I love this, Jackie! I'm so glad you chose to do it in only black and white, because I was so curious to see how they turned out. They remind of x-ray pictures actually. I'm inspirred to try it out for myself. Such a great way to practice composition and differences. I also love the way you talk about your art and the choices you make, it feels light-hearted and makes me view my choices with more ease. A great gift!
i get sad when someone says they can't draw or paint, because they are holding inside themselves the unique thing we SO want to see on that paper: the artist!! and their own special one-of-a-kind marks, color choices, approach... 😊❤❤ ps: love, love black and whiite and contrast too!! love your collage work!!
I agree! I like to think that those folks who hold back just aren’t ready to try *YET* ❤️ Perhaps it’s only to make myself less sad, but I like to think that people who are interested in creating will eventually find some way to express themselves 🤞🤞🤞
I love the way you work, it inspires me to go to my gelplate and make lots of new prints. I agree... it doesn't depend on supplies, it's all about creativity. New subscriber from The Netherlands, thank you!
This reminds me of grid journaling (which I ❤️)! I appreciate you reminding us this was sped up bc these really do take a long time🙄⌚. I enjoyed watching and listening 🤩.
So.. mid-way through I became the guardian of the upper left-hand corner.... "pick me, pick me", I'm screaming at the screen. "Jackie, can you not see me? Am I invisible?" So I was RELIEVED when you acknowledge the lack of love... LOL.... Another great share of your talent. Be well.
I started using a Liquitex super heavy gel for collage work mostly because I have a large stash of gels and mediums and I want to use them. I like it because the collage doesn't buckle so much when drying.
Yes! I noticed that nothing buckled at all when I used the heavy gel! I don't mind little wrinkles here and there because I like the added character & texture it brings, but with the heavy gel I didn't get any wrinkling at all. Nice to have more control over when I add texture and when I want it 100% smooth!
Great as always Jackie, both the art making and the Ted talk :) If you ever decide to offer a workshop in painting collage paper I would totally pay for it (and FYI if you ever want to tone down the shine of the acetate I've found Golden Soft Gel Matte works well)❤
Shiny overhead plastic…acetate. I believe I have some in my stash! Haven’t had time yet to do the “blind” collage session as you discussed with me in another comment this week bc well, you know, L.I.F.E….sigh…
@@jackieschomburgart well check the box…blind collage #1 in the collage book done. Do I love it…process yes result of this one, meh… but I’m learning to embrace ugly in my art (sounds good huh?). Seriously, I’m learning to let it ride for a day or two before I take my next steps vs rushing to “fix” something. TFS this technique!
I love that reminder. "You are the only you." 👍
It’s true! ❤️❤️❤️
So glad I revisited you. Thanks for no distracting music.
Ha! Yes, I dropped the music long ago. Glad to have you watching ❤️
