A bad way predators are noticed is for hunting. I absolutely hate trophy hunters who will just kill a cougar for the trophy. But I totally understand what you're talking about. Another thing that drives me crazy is people who say they care about all animals when in reality, they just care about cute puppies. Not endangered parrots or something.

No. The Dad does not take care of the kits. Even if the mother dies. After the brief meeting between female and male cougars, the male goes off into the wilderness and they never meet again. A male may even kill and eat kits if he finds them without their mother. If the mother cougar passes away, the outcome depends on the age of the cougars. If the kits are phasing out of their teenage years, they have some chance to survive and grow up. If they are younger then they either die or get rescued by humans. Basically if the mother dies, the kits are all on their own.

When I lived in Yosemite, people liked feeding the squirrels and deer. (Feeding wild animals is a big no-no and is actually illegal in the park system. It has a hefty 2k fine.) Which ended up attracting bobcats and bears. Luckily there were just too many people for the cougars. But I was having lunch and watched a bobcat make quick work of a fat squirrel.

Well, it depends. Coyotes can survive pretty much anywhere so maybe. As for cougars, I don't think it would be a steady enough source of food.
