    MATT : I have a brass 1.7 Ultron 35mm and I love it. Sharp , and beautiful the aperture is superb and the focus so smooth and precise , as a matter of fact , my 90 F2 APO ASPH Summicron ... her aperture is not as lovely to adjust as the brass bodied ULTRON , again I have the brass model , and even 2 hoods in brass for the lens , so yes I love that lens , oh , and it is beautiful on an M Leica too , I think it would be ravishing on am MP in black paint too. Hi Matt
    Ah, there's the video you meant However, I think the Ultron 1.7 is a bit too big, even if it's supposed to be sharper. I got my Nokton 35 1.4 II in the S:C version today. And later I will get the Flektogon 2.4/35mm M42 which I will also use on the 240 With this one the closest focusing distance is 0.22cm which is also very interesting, as I already had it I can only report very good results and it is also very sharp from open aperture. If you ever have the opportunity to use one I would like to recommend it to you. Also a very great glass.👌👌

    Fascinating video, as always, Matt. I must admit though that you confuse me. Quite some time ago you sold your Carl Zeiss 50 ZM because it was "too sharp", yet in your videos you compare sharpness of various lenses. Now, I'm keeping my CZM 50/2 regardless, but could you please explain how the Zeiss is "too sharp" while you seek sharpness in other lenses?

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  5 месяцев назад +4

      Thanks Chris and fair point! My passion is film so I like sharp enough lenses to use film so then the final image has detail and isn't a mushy mess. I'm happy with soft lenses on digital. I only really used the Planar 50 ZM on digital back then and some models I met didn't have skin that could hold up to that lens. I didn't have vintage lenses or mist filters to turn to in those days so all I had was "too sharp". Now I'm older and wiser I still seek out the best lenses but I apply there right too for the job. Sharp on film, soft on digital quite often for female portraits.

    I find this sort of express review quite useful to get an overview, though I wish you would separate out results from the SL and the M cameras much more clearly and consistently. Though M lenses will work fairly well on the SL, they are designed for the M and work better on the M. Though for your own purposes the results on the SL are very relevant to you, they are not so relevant to M users. It tells me a lot that the two voigtlanders are more or less the same at infinity on the M, but is confusing to hear you say that the f1.7 is better at infinity, when you mean it is better on the SL only. Please try to keep the results more clearly separated.
