I've been using AI for 5 or so years and never knew you could average 2 points ! I always did the painful method of making a new middle anchor point and deleting the side ones
However a few things, you could have used transform to make multiple cop8es and jus expanded the shapes, I find that easier as you can also change the space between the lines
Also there is a rounded corners options in illustrator. I think that could simplified the task of making the round corners all at once instead of doing It one by one

you can haste the process of average the nodes using ctrl alt j
This is a great technique. I did not know about the average command. :) Really interesting to see other applications of this techniques.

When i tried to make them into a compound path i got "cant make a compound path. All objects in a compoundpath must be paths, and they cannot be brushed or part of an object"
And "The filter produced no results. Please select two overlapping paths" was what I got when I tried to intersect the two. And theres NOTHING out there to help me with my problem.

2 times I followed the same way you did but when I want to Intersect (pathfinder) "The filter produced no results. Please select two or more filled and overlapping paths." error pop up
anyone can help?
Make sure you convert the text into outline. Select the text, then go to Type > Create outline, and select all the objects then Pathfinder > Intersect.
This was the first video that I watched of yours, where you taught this in Inkscape. I’ve come a long way after watching that.

Hey Nick, I had to hold down alt to get intersect to work. Did I do something wrong?
Hey Nick im using Illustrator 2020 but when it comes to that point of intersection when i use my pathfinder i get a prompt saying " Filter produced no results. Please select to overlapping paths" yet i have followed all your instructions
Make sure there is actually only 2 objects and the letters are converted to path. I was having the same problem but then I realised that I was using more then 1 letter, so I had to make a compound path with all the letters. SOlved my problem
click alt and then intersect

You have to have at least 2 objects selected. Sounds like you only have 1 or none.
try alt clicking the intersect button

For the last step, you can select many of the points you want at the same time. Just to same time hehe.
Great Video! But I get an error saying that the filter produced no result, please select two overlapping paths inspite of selecting both of them. I am new to illustrator , kindly help :)
I just had to keep selecting it. I think it had something to do with grouping or selecting. I quickly restarted and made sure I wasn't click away when I wasn't suppose to until I got it to work.

Select the N and lines design then click intersect
@@anuragsinha2636 Had the same issue, my problem was that i tried with 2 letters at once. i did it again with one letter and it worked perfectly. there is a link in the comments below that might help too

how did you separate the points that had little cuts into them? when they were connected through two lines ?
This is awesome. The only prproblem I'm having is that I'm trying to do it with a word, not just a letter. So when I hit intersect it says "filter produced no results. Please select two overlapping paths"...so excuse my ignorance but is there a way to do this with more than one letter at a time?

I have a mac and almost all of the commands seem to be different - but it is incredibly difficult to follow along for a newbie like myself - it has taken hours and I am bogged down (again) at the pathfinder section...
