Some time in the late 90s on a snowy day, I was a little kid riding in the end car on the inbound Heritage Corridor. The conductor let my brother and I see the cab. I got to blow the horn. We passed a stopped BNSF autorack train with ATSF and BN livery units on one side. On the other side an Amtrak flew by like Metra 112 at 5:07. It looked so similar.
Roger W. Fields. My old Conductor. I hope he is enjoying retirement. Although I've seen this view over a million times, it still bring a smile to my face. Great video.
Way back in the late 80s/early 90s, I lived across the street from the Harlem Ave station. A front row seat to the dinky parade everyday!! Thanks for sharing this!!
The past main line of the Santa Fe Railroad to/from Dearborn Station. At 8:31 , the train passes St Anthony Hospital on the left (Douglass Park). I had my last major surgery there in 1957 (Tonsillectomy), lucky me. Back then, in the children's ward, you could listen to Steam Whistles from trains on these tracks. Yeah, I'm old. Near the hospital is old Route 66. The hospital recently announced they will build a new building close by and leave this 1800s location.
They should clean the ice and snow out of that bell. In the 1800s railroads used bells going into and out of stations to warn cattle off the tracks. It stuck ever since, but only in the U.S..

Thank you for one of my favorite cab rides. What more can I ask for,Trains and Snow on the old "Q" all one needed was the few Burlington's E units.

0:48 a metra locomotive that is now toast lol
Did they stop using those them? I saw they also repainted a bunch of locomotives to honor their older ones from the 50s and such.
@@garrett7931 actually the locomotive caught fire in June of 2019.
Rail Brothers Productions oh wow that’s unreal. I’ve recently started to get more into trains so not too up to date on everything like that. Thanks!
@@garrett7931 your welcome
@@garrett7931 actually Metra 210 was recently rebuilt and returned to service in December of 2020.
That clicking sound is very annoying.
That's the bell. Doesn't work well in snow.
Sounds like a washing machine off balance.
That is an EMD steel bell with a clicker
