@@LessExpensivefix As dirty as the fluid was, I always drain the torque converter as well and all you need to do is pull the return line that comes from the radiator and disconnect it and start it and let it drain into the pan for about a minute or so.
Hi I had my 100K miles 2017 ford expolores FWD , not sure if the previous owner changed the gears fluid, do you recommend to do it normal way , or refill one liter and waste one liter over a week or so ..please advise ?
First thing you have to do you have to check the transmission level if it's full or is low then if everything is good go any place has a big OBD to check your transmission cold maybe is a speed sensor is bad or if you have abs lights on if ABS light is on too mean you can cause the problem
I had to put a little less than 4 quarts after letting it drain for about 15 mins. You might wanna do it twice, once later in the day after driving since I think it holds 12 quarts total.
12 codes on Commander for a machine to flush the transmission but when you use drain and fill you have just to collect the oil they come from a transmission you have to add the same
@@Arturo-im1nh The Haynes repair for 2011 - 2017 manual says 11.1 quarts dry, but I think that includes torque converter. I don't think just draining the oil will release the oil in the torque converter. I haven't changed mine yet and am looking more into how much pumping it out takes to refill. Up to 11.1 quarts of fluid for V6 tranny 6f50/6f55. If you drain it replace what you drain do the procedure here with engaging gears then check again. If anyone that works with the pumping system could answer it would be appreciated.
@@kentuckywindage222hello thank tou for the explanation and the same thing i saw on google for Automatic transmission fluid, but if you did the transmission oil change let le know how many L u did, thank tou
When do you have a transmission seal you cannot check the transmission level just we have to do change the fluid start the car and shift the transmission each gear 10 seconds reverse 10 seconds natural 10 seconds drive 10 seconds back so natural 10 seconds reverse 10 seconds parking let the car run about 10 to 15 minutes until transmission gets hot then shift at time the same process and you make sure just adding only 4 quart of transmission fluid Max life how do you know is 4 quarts you have to do a drain and fill and you match the fluid the one coming from the car then you add the same thing if you didn't watch the video I explain everything there
The whole transmission hold almost 12 quarts but we do this technique join and fill if the car has a lot of mileage you know wants to damage the transmission on your shock the system so we drain and fluid and we add and if you want to do it another time yeah no problem but you have to test the car if the car drive with no problem before change the fluid one more time this is only solution if the car has a lot of mileage and never been serviced before
NEVER, EVER use multi-vehicle transmission fluid in a Ford vehicle. ONLY use the type of Motorcraft transmission fluid specified by Ford for your vehicle's transmission.
Thank you!
Thank you,
Thank you ser 👍
This video is literally perfect, I won't be spending the $250 to have the dealer do it 💀
Just $30

You forgot the leveling procedure once the new trans fluid is in. It makes sure you have the exact correct amount of fluid.
Please explain...
When is a good time to change it for the first time
Ford recommend to change the fluid every 30,000 miles from the factory
150.000 miles under normal use. 30.000 if pulling a trailer
My ford manual said that it doesn’t need to be change only the back is that true
How to check oil level?
This is the problem if you have a seal transmission you cannot check the fluid level
how many liters we have to put back after drainage?

Hey so no tranny filter on these ?
No filter
Ok thanks brother for quick response gonna do this tomorrow

Its inside the case, the trans has to be removed and split to get to it.. Just change the fluid at normal interval and you should be fine.
This mechanic did not start up the vehicle to run the trans pump and recheck the oil level.

Using Max life transmission fluid
Why?
I had a crown Vic that was slipping at 160k miles. I changed the fluid with Valvoline Max life and she shifted like new even when I sold her at 210k
I've got a 13 5.0 4x4 f150 with 300k miles. I use valvoline atf and it shifts beautifully
300,000 Miles is too much for a transmission you should never touch the transmission
It’s not 4 quarts and a half it’s 4 and a half quarts.
To anyone watching this completely incorrect method and fluid type. Here is the correct way on a Ford
