I upgraded to the iPad Mini 7 from the Mini 6 for Apple Intelligence, though it’s not groundbreaking. It does have more storage, which was helpful since the new iOS 18 software update consumed most of my 64GB storage.
@Ampedup562 - That’s totally fine and I’m glad you’re happy…remember best upgrade is the one that’s best for you. For me personally there’s just not enough there so I’ll wait for now ☺️.
I think it’s worth upgrading. Apple intelligence is good with the 18.2 beta. It’s more storage and noticeably quicker especially when gaming. Also snappier when browsing. Battery life seems better too.
@Lucien-t7w - The best upgrade is always the one that’s best for you so there’s nothing wrong with upgrading. I just personally don’t see the advantage but again if I didn’t have the mini 6 I’d think differently. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it ☺️.
Lucky for you. I just plugged my G-Drive SSD in Mini 7 to load some 4K footages recorded by DJI Osmo 3. The Mini 7 have not showed the Folder containing those footages cause of large size folder. How da h-ell Apple!!!
I look at this a lot differently. After having the mini 6 for 2 years, and now trading it in for the 7 it cost me less then a can of pop(soda) per day. Yes it sucks that I need a pencil pro but I already have one for the 13” iPad Pro.
@scottshultz7645 - Every scenario is different and in your case that’s perfect. Nothing wrong with the upgrade in fact I actually decided to switch all together to the 11in iPad Pro.
I’ve just upgraded from the 2019 5th Gen, so it was definitely a worthwhile upgrade. It really complements my Product Red iPhone 13 Mini. Just wish it came in the same colour. Thanks for the content.
@pug_63 - Cobgrats on the upgrade! It’s totally worth it in your scenario and I’m sure it will work well for you for many years ahead. I agree the 13 mini and iPad mini are a perfect pair and both devices more people should experience. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽.
I had the 5. I love the form factor of the mini. So I went ahead and got it. I’m part of the problem. I did justify it because I got the pencil pro in the hopes that next year I’ll get the 13 inch pro. For portability though, I’ll always have a mini. I don’t need pro stuff in my purse. I did have 9.7 pro as my first Apple. Would’ve stayed with that forever if they hadn’t stopped making it.
@vernabailey3671 - Coming from the 5 it’s a great upgrade it just doesn’t make sense to me going from the mini 6 to the 7. You’ll be happy and I totally agree with you the form factor by far is perfect. I’m the same I just don’t have use for a pro iPad, the mini is sufficient enough and provides me a great experience on a daily basis. Thanks for watching enjoy your new iPad ☺️.
Im coming from the ipad mini 5, so the mini 7 is a HUGE upgrade for me. If I was coming from the mini 6 however, i can see why some are bummed about this update after 3 years. But then, the ipad mini has always been the forgotten stepchild of the ipad family. Always getting minor updates every 2 or 3 years. The mini 6 was the one exception to this trend when it got a complete redesign in line with the ipad pro form factor. So i can see why some people were thinking this update would be bigger. But i think the mini 6 was an anomaly. It would have been nice to see the ipad mini 7 get an oled screen with 1,000 nits of brightness, face id & thinner bezels. I guess thats not gonna happen until the ipad mini 8 in 2027.
@Regantdarcy - This is a great upgrade for you and yes I certainly agree. The last mini upgrade was a hit and after holding out for a couple years I really thought Apple would make this a big jump too but unfortunately not the case. Appreciate your comment and you watching!
Very nice video totally agree with you but personally I think Apple are really taking Apple users for granted it’s all money with them . Last years basic I phone 15 isn’t included for Apple intelligent it that I want it , I’ve the basic 15 and my mini 6 and I’ll be sticking with them outstanding video 😊
@marymadigan9707 - Yup that’s the right thing to do this year overall has been a letdown. Honestly only exciting products have been the Mac updates. Wait it out and upgrade later it’s the better move for sure. Thanks as always for watching I appreciate you ☺️.
A heads up everyone, this iPad mini 7 is NOT compatible with the gen 2 pencil for those of us who upgraded from 6. What a phenomenal let down considering I learnt this after purchasing rather than the 4 apple employees I spoke with. Wish I’d seen this videos before.
@hallyudesi3910 - That’s unfortunate they should’ve told you that! Yeah most people just jump to the fact that it’s compatible with the pro pencil but disregard the fact it won’t work with a gen 2. That’s a huge reason why I didn’t bother upgrading since I’d have to buy a pencil again and render this one useless. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it ☺️.
@jeysmoothies - Link is below! Thanks man it’s just not worth an upgrade from the mini 6. The controller is g8+ and I really like it because it can be used with multiple devices. amzn.to/4exyH9q
Hey Q, i'm getting the base ipad 10th generation for xmas. I know the 11th generation base ipad is rumoured for 2025 spring time, but would mean I wouldn't get that till xmas 2025. Do you think I should just go with the current base ipad?
That’s what my thoughts were since the very first mini came out. I gave in and bought the mini 6 last year and I think the best decision I made. My M2 Pro gets the specific use but Mini stays with me all day long. Give it a try.

Agreed.. hoped for better hardware, less bezel... my 6 will suffice till it dies..
@deckard9732 - Agree the mini 6 is great and definitely not worth switching out until you have issues. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it ☺️.

The previous gen aren't even the performance comparison baselines anymore. ESPECIALLY with Macs and iPhones.
@lazayvion - Yup you’re totally right brother! Thanks like always for watching 🙏🏽.
Siri is still way behind.
Can you link the iPad mini controller?
Also thanks for giving an honest review + I was thinking of upgrading but you saved me some cash

Hey Q, i'm getting the base ipad 10th generation for xmas.
I know the 11th generation base ipad is rumoured for 2025 spring time, but would mean I wouldn't get that till xmas 2025.
Do you think I should just go with the current base ipad?
@fasn279 - Go for it, it’s a great iPad and gives you a bit more screen to work with than the mini. It’ll be a good Xmas gift for you 😌.
Does ipad mini 7 have Media Engine?
@elbert5208 - unfortunately it doesn’t :/
I've never had an iPad mini. It just seems like an awkward size. More like a really big phone rather than the smaller sibling of the other iPads.
@Toni_Snark - You should give the mini a try as I’m pretty sure you’ll feel different about it. Truly the best iPad in the lineup.
