All this beauty standards talk is so bogus to me. I can't see it as anything but the projection of not the collective taste, but the collective body dismorphia.
In real life no one does actually care, no one care about these traces in a partner, but all of a sudden it becomes a thing when you start obsessing with media and thinking about editing your own face.
The best example of it is heroin-chic. I know it's pre-social media, but, my point is that the whole aesthetic was completely detached from desire. It was a thing created and popularized by woman and gay men who saw the female body as a set-piece for their "art".
Also, I think "democratization of the beauty standard" is just sincere appreciation of the body, not this objectification.
Mostly gay men, there’s a reason a lot of models are androgynous twinkettes.
