सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कोलकाता के आरजी कर मेडिकल कॉलेज और अस्पताल में कोलकाता डॉक्टर रेप केस की सुनवाई शुरू की, जबकि इस मामले को लेकर देशभर में डॉक्टरों की हड़ताल चल रही है। कोलकाता पुलिस के रुख पर कड़ा रुख अपनाते हुए सीजेआई चंद्रचूड़ ने सवाल किया, "देर रात तक कोई एफआईआर नहीं हुई... क्या एफआईआर में कहा गया है कि यह हत्या थी?" सीजेआई ने मृतक की फोटो और वीडियो के प्रसार पर भी नाराजगी जताई। उन्होंने कहा, "प्रोटोकॉल कागज पर नहीं हो सकता, बल्कि पूरे भारत में लागू किया जा सकता है। कोलकाता के मामले में, हम इस बात से बहुत चिंतित हैं कि पीड़िता का नाम और मृतक की फोटो और वीडियो सभी मीडिया में प्रकाशित हो रहे हैं... ग्राफिक में उसका शव दिखाया गया है जो घटना के बाद का है... अदालत के फैसले हैं जो कहते हैं कि यौन पीड़ितों के नाम प्रकाशित नहीं किए जा सकते।"
The Supreme Court begun hearing of the Kolkata Doctor Rape Case at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata amid the ongoing nationwide doctors' strike over it. Taking a strong stance on Kolkata Police's stance, CJI Chandrachud questioned, "Until late night there was no FIR... Did FIR say it was a murder?" The CJI also expressed anguish over the circulation of photo, and video of the deceased. "The protocol cannot be on paper but is enforceable across India. Regarding Kolkata, we are deeply concerned that the name of the victim and the photo, and video of the deceased is published all across the media.. the graphic shows her body which was after the incident.. there are judgments of the court which say names of sexual survivors cannot be published," he said.
