i think the scariest part about a story where a serial killer murders 5 children, makes a ROM and hides clues as to the locations of the rotting and decaying corpses, most likely sending these ROMs to the victims families, then killing himself before the police apprehend him is that he got away with it. unless you're me and head-canon that the murder accidentally trapped his soul in his own ROM as Sonic where the souls of the kids lie with all them inhabiting Robotnik (which explains the erratic notes and behavior, it's 5 Children controlling 1 body), in which they then proceed to torture John's soul by destroying Sonic in similar fashion to how John killed them. a cycle that will repeat forever.

i like to imagine that the children had possessed sonic so at the final section of the song, after they hear that John "freed" himself, they start going batshit crazy attempting to escape the game, which is why they start glitching out so much
Even though the freeing himself from the game part is confirmed false, I still like to imagine he pulled an Afton and escaped his hell, still doing what he does in the real world while the 5 victims rot in the game themselves. This would evidently be what makes them attempt their chance at freedom last minute.

A thing that got me is the fact that the song tell a criminal case in the middle of a Sonic-themed song, but the idea of Top Loader that a murderer is saved even if he killed 5 children is incredible.
A terrifying thought to think about is how this could all be real. A murderer killing 3 minors, and 2 unknown people, then making a glitched port of Sonic, which may have been his favorite game in his childhood, and sprinkling pieces of his crimes throughout it. And then to think he got away with it, even confessing to it. And the fact he reached "eternal salvation", and "the one who watches" has collected his debt, AND being "finally free", means he probably killed himself. That's the terrifying thing. It's the fact it could be real because everything I've said has the chance to become reality. Although small, there's still a chance. THAT is the horror, and story, of Top Loader. A man killing 5 people, making a game port about it, and killing himself to get away with it. Truly horrifying.

I adore realism induced horror, since it gives off even more fear than “haha funni demon possess blue hedgehog and bleed out of eye go brrr”, since it’s like “shit man this could actually happen”. And Sonic NES is the quintessential example of this, alongside EXEs like Starved.

Finally, a accurate Top-Loader chart, about Sonic has Passed creepypasta, wait it got remastered.. wow really liked the effort of the chart and the voice lines of Fatal Error talking about deaths that happened in this universe, and liked this new lore about it
I like to think Sonic is like Golden Freddy in this ROM, multiple souls trapped into 1 body, each time he glitches is as if they are fighting for control over the body. By the end when hes just a glitched out mass of pixels I imagine its the souls merging into one larger unstable force and Robotnik represents John since he cuts off the souls and begins to glitch out himself, the motif of Fight Or Flight could also be him hunting the children down eventually killing them (Aside from Alice)
Actually, the murderer possessed sonic, and the kids (presumably) possessed robotnik who proceeded to torture "sonic" until now. I believe that the reason they freaked out at the end is because they tried to entrap the murderer inside sonic further leading to shit destabilizing even more.

Afrer coming back from the official version of Top Loader, this version feels dry in some parts of the instrumental. But honestly, both versions are really great for what they are.

I like to think Sonic is like Golden Freddy in this ROM, multiple souls trapped into 1 body, each time he glitches is as if they are fighting for control over the body. By the end when hes just a glitched out mass of pixels I imagine its the souls merging into one larger unstable force and Robotnik represents John since he cuts off the souls and begins to glitch out himself, the motif of Fight Or Flight could also be him hunting the children down eventually killing them (Aside from Alice)
Actually, the murderer possessed sonic, and the kids (presumably) possessed robotnik who proceeded to torture "sonic" until now. I believe that the reason they freaked out at the end is because they tried to entrap the murderer inside sonic further leading to shit destabilizing even more.

Afrer coming back from the official version of Top Loader, this version feels dry in some parts of the instrumental. But honestly, both versions are really great for what they are.
same, while the v7 one sounds way more chaotic and energetic which fits sonic and the fact that it got changed to a joke creepypasta, v4 has a weirdly more somber, sadder more despairing feeling, which fits since this is about the case of a child murderer of 5, this is no joke

The thing is, this isn't just some "evil hedgehog kill fox and echidna" this is something that could actually happen, someone goes insane and kills 5 or so people/kids, then makes a unlicensed clunky port of a game that could have even been the kids' favorite game, sprinkling subtle hints throughout every level to what he did until you find out what this truly is like some fucked up scavanger hunt you didn't ask to take place in, the fact is this isn't just a creepypasta, I feel like this is a genuine warning to people (especially kids) anyone can be a truly sick, and mentally fucked individual

it would be cool if by determined times you finish a song of the mod, you get images (pixelated to avoid Gore) of the crimes but they have something hidden on them, and solving everything, somehow you become able to play the song.
Top-Loader was gonna have images of gore for the victim reports! Sadly it was scrapped, because the gore doesn't match the descriptions.
