since i’m someone who isn’t a content creator- i have developed an absolute love for samples recently. they’re a way for me to satisfy my curiosity for trying a large variety of makeup without collecting a bunch of stuff i don’t have room for and definitely don’t have the budget for.
I did same thing a few weeks ago and took items to a women's shelter. The administration lady said they are so useful and appreciated. Sometimes beauty items are not what people think of donating to places like this. Just an idea 😀👍🏼❤
Hey Lauren! I don't paint my nails much at home, but i have nail polish that i super love, so i just take it to the nail salon and ask them to use it - it's actually helped me get even more use out of my favorite polishes and give me more options than they usually have (more fun, different colors/ finishes)

I have double ended brushes yet NEVER reach for them and have decluttered after having them in my 'travel necessities' bag for like... 2 years? but, Agree! would love to see a must have brush selection from Lauren!

Try putting the brushes into 3 separate organizers. 1 clean and ready to use, 1 dirty to be cleaned, and one out of sight with the brushes you have used. After a month, look at the last organizer and declutter from there! It may not be a lot, but it shows you what you realistically use.
Lauren today I had my vitals test for first year nursing and I have to redo it (so does like 1/2 of us) and I CRIED when she was giving me feedback. SO EMBARRASSING why must I always cry. Believe me when I say I need this distraction.

I'm a retired retail executive, spent 32 years doing everything from being a part time sales associate during high school to VP of stores/operations, to being an executive in a very large IT firm, travelled all over the world selling technology and consulting services to the most wealthy powerful people in the world...I cried at work, in meetings MANY times. Very early on in my career I was in a meeting I was still quite junior but was working my tail off to move up in my company. I was being hammered on by the President of the company I began to tear up, which made him even angrier, my mentor at the time who was the CIO looked at the President and said " Mark, you do realize that the same PASSION that drives Brooke (me) to give 150% on every single task we give her, is the very same passion that causes her to tear up sometimes?"...I will never ever forget that minute. No one had ever stood up for me in my career, no one had ever put this so succinctly in my life. I am a crier and that's perfectly ok! I still gained the respect of my peers and those who were much more senior than me by doing what I said I would do, by being honest and always sticking to my own moral code. Some people cry, some don't. I really hate that I was made to feel so weak for so many years in my career because sometimes I would cry. I also determined that when I was more apt to cry I was likely extremely over stressed, lacking sleep, my time of the month- so hormones so out of control and we have ZERO control over that. So, that day in that meeting I made a decision that no one was ever going to make me feel embarrassed or that I was weak for crying. Some people cry, some people shout. Some people don't say anything but leave and go smoke a fat one in the bathroom or take 3 shots of vodka in the break room. Crying is as natural as sneezing. I hope you do not ever let a situation where you cried make you feel anything but, you were feeling real feelings in that moment and that is how YOUR body processes those feelings. I know you're going to nail that exam next time ❤
It's gonna be OK. Get together with some of your classmates if you can and practice on each other. I'd rather have a nurse that had to try harder than one that breezed through and maybe missed something important.
Lauren, your declutters are actually the only ones that I'm able to watch and enjoy watching that don't give ne major Anxiety. I just got a drawer chest to reign in the makeup that's all over my place, and start organizing stuff into there (and declutter as I go) - at 5 am this morning 😂. Thank you for the inspiration ❤!

YES ! Only the liability of germs is too high - need to sign a release of liability etc. Lawyers cause so many problems ! I would be so happy to take those brushes off her hands.

42:21 I store my brushes, lying flat in drawers, organized by what they do. I even have a special drawer for my expensive brushes! I had to do that because I have a cat who thinks the brushes are cat toys and when you spend $100 on a brush, you don’t want to find it behind the couch in a dust bunny! 😂😂
I have everything in a drawer when they're clean, separated by function. Once I use something, I put it in a decorative cup on my desk. Then I clean the used ones every other Sunday and put them back in the drawer once they're dry.

I've thrown things out I needed to let go of and even made some extra cash selling stuff on Mercari. It's a nice feeling seeing things go out the door and my house becoming less full of stuff. ❤
Seeing you go through those nail polishes was sooo nostalgic! I could name most of them by just seeing the colour. My obsession with nail polish which was fully fuelled by RUclips lead to me training as a beauty therapist and to do nails as a job so they have a special place in my heart ❤
I have a huge nail polish collection. I’m glad you didn’t get rid of Pacific Blue! Super rare. So is illa. Butter London is trash, I purged virtually all of mine.
Man, Pacific Blue sure takes me back. I've gotten rid of a lot of my bail polish as I barely wear it anymore with it barely lasting a day or two on me. But, that was one I really loved.
Love your nails. I turned 18 and work with food in august and i feel like all of a sudden i want to clean everything (i mean really, why do i want to clean our kitchen drawers constantly) so this is always a fun watch

I use glass yoplait oui containers for my brushes on my vanity. Yes. Yougurt containers 😂I’ve tried everything and that has been the best solution for me. I keep a hard snap cup case for my stage makeup brushes. It comes apart once I settle into a dressing room. And I keep all my travel brushes in a bag with a microfiber towel so I can lay out all my things in a hotel room.💜
For the foil samples, to make it easier to use I just put them with my regular skincare or makeup that way I can see them on a regular basis and use them up
I store all of my makeup brushes in kit bags so that the dust and dirt can't get to them. So easy to wipe down to clean. I bought from an irish makeup brand but have seen mykitco and similar from other brands 😊❤

I think the "cool girl" brush thing you mentioned might actually be more the case that if you have extremely limited tools, you learn how to get the absolute most out of it, techniques get mastered, etc. Just a guess!

You could consider buying clear full cover tips and making your own press ons. You could get plenty of use out of your polish collection and save money on the salon or buying press ons. If any of your polishes are drying out a little opi thinning drops will revive them ❤
i rarely paint my nails so i have a base, a topper and a metallic purple. so decluttering nail polish really made me learn that this is all i needed to keep. very cathartic.
for my brushes, i actually made a holder years and years ago. i took a shoe box and cut the top off, and painted it. then i took toilet paper rolls (or cut in half paper towel rolls but tp are more sturdy imo) and painted those. then glued them down inside the shoe box. then i decorated the outside with some lace and flowers i got from michaels. it's held up well and i love it tbh. i have more bigger label rolls from work that i'm contemplating making a second one.
For Brush storage I use the etoile 5 divided box. But they have a cover and keep the dust out. They are expensive. I do have a lot of brushes. But I find they are good quality and worth it
the samples remind me of a section from marie kondo's book! she suggests starting with them too so that you can work your way up to the stuff you're more attached to
As someone who travels a lot samples are awesome because they go on my trip but they don’t come back home leaving me more room in my luggage for souvenirs and gifts
Loved this 😍 That Moda brush with the long flimsy bristles is my absolute favorite for applying highlighter! It just applies it in such a natural way because it almost melts the product into the skin because it goes on thin. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but it’s one of my favorite brushes.
I didn't realize how much everyone loved nailpolish back then until you started naming all those brands and names and I got major flashbacks lol. Loved the video (as always) 🤍🤍
I use 3 pen/pencil cup holders for my brushes. I separate them by eye, foundation and then face brushes in general. It makes it easier to find what I’m looking for.

I wish I had all the brushes you has especially the BK beauty ones . Keeping the annoying samples especially the deluxe ones are my issue like if I really want to try something I'll use it and put the rest aside like I'm ever gonna use them then all the sudden clutter. I have found some HG products through samples so I guess I'm not complaining but the crap foil ones suck I don't even bother to pick out them anymore.
I ordered the crystal brush holder from Lurella, it has 5 sections and a top that comes over to cover them - that was my main draw because I hate how if I clean all my brushes and have them in cups they start to get dusty etc even if I'm not using them. This way they stay fully encased so they will stay clean until you're ready to use them.

I have some similar brush spinner things. I got 3 , 1 for eyes, 2 for face, then I have one of those bead brush holders with 3 separate spots for my natural hair blush, bronzer and highlighter. I like that it has a lid but I squish my brushes sometimes.
I travel for work sometimes, so I love having samples of my favourite products so I’m not packing a lot! Usually as I get samples I go through them and pass along the ones I know I won’t be using.
As an average woman who wears makeup some days and not others, the sheer volume of this seems coocoo bonkers. I have a little bin in the bathroom for everyday stuff and a large makeup bag for the bolder color eyes and lips for rare use. The amount of stuff that you need to do this job on RUclips is insane.
Totally jealous of all your brushes- I’m loving Mac and Sigma brushes and SLOWLY buying them one at a time since they are so expensive and I am stay at home, homeschooling mom
You inspired me to go through my nail polish to see how many I have and what I can get rid of but I do paint my nails myself 90% of the time I only do spa nail salons twice a year for birthday and holidays when I get gift cards to go there so I’m going to keep way more mail polish then most people need so….I have 148 nail polishes I’m downsized to 120 I feel like that was a good number I was trying to go to 100 but I couldn’t say goodbye to that many 🤷🏼♀️ still feels like some kind of progress

I ordered the crystal brush holder from Lurella, it has 5 sections and a top that comes over to cover them - that was my main draw because I hate how if I clean all my brushes and have them in cups they start to get dusty etc even if I'm not using them. This way they stay fully encased so they will stay clean until you're ready to use them.

I have some similar brush spinner things. I got 3 , 1 for eyes, 2 for face, then I have one of those bead brush holders with 3 separate spots for my natural hair blush, bronzer and highlighter. I like that it has a lid but I squish my brushes sometimes.
I travel for work sometimes, so I love having samples of my favourite products so I’m not packing a lot! Usually as I get samples I go through them and pass along the ones I know I won’t be using.

As an average woman who wears makeup some days and not others, the sheer volume of this seems coocoo bonkers. I have a little bin in the bathroom for everyday stuff and a large makeup bag for the bolder color eyes and lips for rare use. The amount of stuff that you need to do this job on RUclips is insane.

I use extra mugs that don't fit in the cabinet as brush holders. Unless the brushes are minis, everything fits perfectly.

You inspired me to go through my nail polish to see how many I have and what I can get rid of but I do paint my nails myself 90% of the time I only do spa nail salons twice a year for birthday and holidays when I get gift cards to go there so I’m going to keep way more mail polish then most people need so….I have 148 nail polishes I’m downsized to 120 I feel like that was a good number I was trying to go to 100 but I couldn’t say goodbye to that many 🤷🏼♀️ still feels like some kind of progress
