  • Today I wanna share my Halloween mini clipboard on a vintage book with you that I've created for the Tim Holtz IDEA-OLOGY HALLOWEEN 2023 release.
It all began with a mini clipboard, but as it often - and especially with idea-ology - happens, my creativity got the best of me, and the project escalated into something bigger. In this video, I'll show you how I built the entire structure and reveal some tricks on how to modify the amazing idea-ology pieces to create a unique Halloween look for your own projects.

WOW! I was so excited to see Tim look at your make. I know he's so happy you are on his team. You are amazing. When Tim said he had a 2nd make from you,...I was shocked. And they are both mind-blowing. Yours were the best!!! And that meansa lot, cuz you are in great company. I think all the makers are going to dig deeper into THEIR creativity, to keep up with you!! You are an inspiration. Even to Tim Holtz!!! I loved watching him examine your pieces. I've watched YOUR part 3X so far. You have reset the bar for all makers!!! Even us!! It seems your own creativity has found a platform you can really thrive on. You go girl. Maybe now you will trust your own talent. But stay sweet, Luise!!!

Ok, I watched this whole thing. When I saw this make on Tim Holtz yesterday, I was overwhelmed. So, thank you so much for your process video. Part of it I could discern from looking at it, but other parts...well, there so much there! Yes, I think this could fall into "junk journal" because I feel that junk journals are repositories of imagination as well as a type of decor. My daughter has the journals I have made for her family on her coffee table. She says her family and friends love looking at them.

I’m not sure I can say anything that hasn’t already been said, Luise!! Gorgeous, stunning & magnificent! So you! I’m so glad that Tim has added you to his list of incredible designers, you very much belong there! I was thinking at the beginning of this video, when you were talking about Halloween being pretty different from anything you know, that there might be something that is a little bit comparable?! Our versions of the Grimm’s fairytales are a pretty watered down Disney version of the original stories! But the originals in German are far scarier & darker! Perhaps down in your subconscious feelings & memories, you were channeling them: Hansel & Gretal & their evil grandmother & Snow White & her evil stepmother both come to mind; both take place in a deep dark forest which is scary & full of traps!! Whether there is any resemblance there for you, you certainly have a creative mind & you are great at making your dreams come true with a little help from Tim & his merry band of creators at Ideaology, Ranger, Sizzix & Stamper’s Anonymous! I’m betting they truly love you! Thank you so much for sharing so many fun details of the making of this fantastic sculpture! The colors & textures are amazing! Make more, please! Erica❤ you won’t have any trouble decorating for Halloween, now!❤

WOW! When Tim said they had added a new artist to Idea-ology I wanted it to be you!! YEAH! What an amazing job you have done. I think it blew Tim's mind. It is so 3-D, a book and windows and the cut out areas. The amazing amount of purple bubbles and flowers you used was awesome. I don't know when you find the time to do this and your other artistic posts from Rome. It was the best thing on the RUclips live. Hello Luise! I watched this twice it was so good! You asked what to call this type of creation. I would call it book art. Some book art you can open, but some you don't need to do that at all. I wouldn't call it a junk journal, only because the trend is to create signatures and to decorate pages, etc.for junk journaling. However, there are people to use books to create sculptural pieces as you have done, you may have seen people folding the pages in a certain way, so that they make designs when all the pages are added together as a unit. I think that yours is a great make. I was sad that Tim didn't pull out the card on the side of the book. But I am glad I got to see it in your video. Did you know that they make purple candy corn? This is why Tim said he liked that flavor, or something like that. You did a fantastic job. I am such a fan of what you are doing. Bravo! 👏🏼

I am so happy that Tim recognized what you can add to his enterprise. I watch the lives for ideas I can apply to junk journaling. I am not interested in all the vignettes. They are clever, but not really something I want to own. Then I saw yours and I am going to make one, not Halloween, but I am thinking of a forest fairy altar. You are an inspiration!

Great make❤ LOVE IT. Love your explanation of it too. So Halloween is a huge fun holiday in America. It is actually All Saints Eve. All Saints Day is November 1 also known as Day of the Dead. Day of the Dead is celebrated more in Mexico but many in the USA continue Halloween into Day of the Dead. November 1 is celebrated especially by Catholic folks as a saints day. Many of the Christian holidays were set to take the place of more pagan days. To me, my family and friends we love Halloween and Day of the Dead together without regards to any religious affiliation either way. We incorporate sugar skulls from Day of the Dead into Halloween. Lots of people decorate like we do for Christmas with indoor and outdoor decorations. Kids and many adults dress up and have parties. It’s FUN and creepy for those who like creepy.

Day of the Dead is definitely a thing in the USA too. It is celebrated on Nov. 1 and 2. In a nutshell, it is believed that at midnight, the gates between heaven and the living is opened so that dead ancestors can visit with their living family. ❤
