I thought I would try out the new arena. Went 0-3 to 3 paladins. Looked at myself in the mirror and tried to figure out where my life went wrong
the way arena now is you either get a complete shit deck or an insanely god like one. I got 7 legendaries in my first pally run

While drafting, he almost always picked lower tier cards. I was like "Noooo, the other card is better in arena Why??" even the twitch chat said "I can't believe this deck works". But Kibler made a great synergistic deck. That's why he is a very good deck builder I guess.
He normally picks a card he likes and builds a deck around it, and makes it work somehow even if its not considered the best thing. That's how he won his first worlds and became the dragon master, he liked the card rift the awakener even in a spell heavy meta, and piloted his big dragon all the way to the top.
What makes a good card in arena is now different that it used to be. Can't go off how drafts used to work anymore
Enchanter I'm really not trying to say that I'm a genius, but I found it odd that twitch chat were saying that. He got continuously presented with zoo options, and he took them. Seemed like good, logical choices to me. If you're consistently presented with a viable strategy/synergy, you take it.
ok so im someone who main plays arena, and ive been on the leaderboard before. i think hes the first non-arena main player who did ALL the perfect picks according to what his deck looked like. yes in the early stages you look at the highest tier cards, but eventually you start looking at synergy over tier. on the hafu-scale id say this is a 10-win deck with a chance of 12.
Exa roc You know you can about synergies all you want and how he did or didn't pick the right cards but he's playing hearthstone so it all comes down to rng on initial hand draws, Mulligan's and draws lol. You could go 0-3 with the highest rated deck of all time if you have bad luck.
Kripp showed how nasty aggro decks can be in arena when he drafted a hunter that was one of his worst decks of the season by the numbers and got 10 wins with it. Everyone drafts greedy with value in mind because they know a lot of matchups come down to having the better deck.
Strongside well partially better deck and more how will you use those selfsame cards, what are you going to have the most meta compliant deck possible and yet still get your teeth kicked in by someone who just has an answer to it all or someone who uses their cards wisely.

11:10 this part confused me because it looked like a misplay... Like "why didn't he attack face before defile?" Until i realized after re-watching that the attack was just edited out...
The new Arena draft is fun and all, but seems less balanced than before. There's no limit to how often a powerful pick is offered, so some people get 7 legendaries while others get none. Still needs some tinkering, a little less variance would definitely make the new draft way better than the old one ever was.

ofc but if you're drafting a controlling deck and get no more than a Curator and run into an opponent with Kazakus, Lich King and Baron Geddon, you lose.
What would BoJack do You cherry picked those cards. Same if you are running into multiple copies of that deathrattle Wyrm or bonemares.
Except you are offered roughly the same amount of legendaries as before. And as stated below I would still much rather have good cards than be offered patches since legendaries don't necessarily follow the power level thing as other cards since they are always paired with other legendaries.

Is a deck similar to this actually viable in the meta not in arena? It looks like a more fun deck then the typical zoolock
Depends. His deck has a lot of questionable cards like cursed revenant and duskboar. Also keep in mind MOST of his opponents did next to nothing turn 1 and 2 allowing him to set up a councilman on curve and protect it since in a nonconstructed world killing a 1/5 that grows with no board is next to impossible.
Today I learned; a group of Councilman is called a council. Who knew?

Hadi Muhammad I think he picked the courier because it’s more of a value card and he was running an aggressive minion based deck.
Yeah , i tend to pick value card , because i play a lot of mage and priest in arena .
His thinking was this: my deck is one where I try to get as much stats on board as quickly as possible, so I can hit their face and kill them before they can a) develop a board to contest my threats and b) get to their big value cards and board clears to stabilise. Courier, a 2/2 for 3, is totally the wrong card for this game plan. Courier = slower/more long term value. You pay for this value in lost tempo, i.e. a 2/2 for 3 is bad compared with a councilman, which in his deck is like a 4/4 for 3 after a turn or two.
However, if he had been given lots of defiles, drain souls, despicable dreadlords (i.e. board control tools), and/or lots of couriers, stonehill defenders, blood reaver guldan (e.g. slow, low tempo, high value cards), courier would have absolutely been the pick.
The key thing to learn is that the 'strongest' standalone card is not always the best pick. Once you've picked a few cards, if you can identify that your deck is leaning towards one gameplan or another, then you should look at how well any card fits into that gameplan as well as just looking at how good the card itself is.
