This airline has, in my opinion, the most beautiful livery of any airline. Props to you for filming anonymously, so many vloggers splash their face everywhere in the assumption they'll get special treatment eg Sam Chui (who I personally can't stand).
I enjoyed your video. I really like the way you layout flight information in the comment section of this thread. I haven't seen such descriptive information anywhere else. Its excellent !!
I totally stacked your last two videos together to binge watch lol. Loving the content and great video First time I flew Vietnam Airlines was a flight from SGN to DAD. It was back in 2005, I was 16, and I recall it being on quite old equipment. VNA has come a long way and its nice to see. Thanks again for sharing!
Went twice on Vietnam Business last year and loved it. Thinking of going back to Vietnam instead of Thailand in September. The pork hock in the lounge - let me at it!! Great video again Thank you🙏👍
Great review of Vietnam Airlines, Kevin! I thoroughly enjoy flying with them and agree on your point about their consistency and friendly crew. One point I feel needs improvement is their ageing A321 fleet and probably the lack of IFEs on those that are used for international routes.
Yeah I agree, for these short hops they're fine- but for 5+ hour flights to Japan, you'd be sat twiddling your thumbs if you didn't have a well stocked library on your own device. Thanks for watching 🩴
i searching for flight review channels but i dont get satisfaction from that.but this thannel is what i expected.i like to watch different type of flght reviews.your presentation and commentary is soo professional 👌
I have never thought i would miss Vietnam before but this video make it!! Really enjoy when you bring me touring the airport also. Can’t wait for the next one. When I took the vna domestic flight, I am not sure that they provided a cup of bubble tea for the passengers or anything. Seems like they just passed the cart and on one get the drinks.
I love Vietnam Airlines. The staff are so courteous. And they gave me a decent meal even though it was just a one-hour flight. In other countries mostly in Europe, they only give meals if the flight is more than 4 hours. Perfect video, you are a good reviewer, very fair. Thank you.
I flew Vietnam Airlines many years ago (their a350s were brand new, that's how long ago it was) in business class and they were amazing. One of the most underrated airlines in my opinion. The only poor experience was the business class lounge, too small and very very packed. Otherwise, great service, reasonable food and the hard product was very good.
I flew this exact flight in January, 2019. Perfect flight and ON TIME! We did experience a gate change while I was waiting at the gate but no worries. Plenty of time to trek to the new gate area. I stayed at the Amanoi resort in Nha Trang. I recommend that place for one of your next video reviews.
I’m waiting for Amanoi’s pricing to come back down to earth. They nearly doubled their standard rates in the beginning of COVID and haven’t readjusted yet.
Pre-Covid $850-$1000 was pretty standard. Once Vietnam’s borders were closed it went up to a flat $1600++/night. Now, while there are some crappy weather months where you can get it for $1000, $1350-$1900 seems to be their target range.
The original Air Vietnam "Hàng Không Việt Nam" (partly owned & operated by the government of Republic of Vietnam) was active from 1951 to 1975 using a fleet of Boeing aircraft consisting of a number of Boeing 707s and Boeing 727s, DC4 & DC3 on both regional and international routes from Saigon to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) ,Bangkok (Thailand),Vientiane (Lao) and Hong Kong and Paris (code share with Air France).North Viet Nam had a Civil Air Authority but did not operated a civilian airline until it captured Saigon in 1975
North Vietnam did have an "Airlines" before 1975, but they're used mainly to fly high ranking officials to China, USSR, and the eastern bloc, civilians were allowed to fly domestic flights but very rare because tickets were either nearly impossible to obtain or are too expensive, kinda like the USSR way of life. After 1975, they started using captured Air Vietnam's fleet for domestic flight, they didn't have many since most of Air Vietnam's fleet has been flown outside of South Vietnam for evacuations before the takeover, the (only) 707 that they took over (originally belonged to Pan Am) sometimes makes it ways to Moscow in the 80s.
You missed the “good ole days” when the flights were actually to Nha Trang (up to about 2003). I could literally walk to my hotel as I used to stay at the guest house in front of the provincial police station about a five minute walk from the terminal. Unfortunately the airport was limited to smaller planes like the ATR however I also remember flying in smaller Russian jets like the TU 134 to Nha Trang in the 1990s…
I know there have been a couple trip reports on them recently, but I can't imagine filming without their prior consent would be tolerated, so It's probably a non-starter for my current format. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft Oh man! I definitely respect that though and your commitment to staying anonymous I think there is a chance you probably could film on El Al without asking permission though I certainly understand why you wouldn't be interested in taking your chances on that one
My most recent experience with El Al was when a plain clothes security person told me to put my camera away. This was years ago before the channel. I was taking a photo of my Air China 787, which happened to be parked next to an El Al aircraft. We were in Newark 😂
You missed the “good ole days” when you flew directly into Nha Trang (up to about 2003). I could literally walk to my usual lodging being the guest house in front of the provincial police station. I miss those days.
Vietnam Airlines is currently the only airlines flies domestically in Vietnam that uses ULD (Unit load devices - In this A321 case, 3-4 AKH), which makes luggage loading/unloading much faster and more efficient than the competitors.
I can’t comment on VJ or QH A321s simply since I haven’t paid attention to it- but I know for certain all VJ and QH A330s and 787 respectively use them.
Since they’re using the 321 on medium haul routes to South Korea and Japan, I seriously want Vietnam Airlines to start thinking about upgrade their interior. The 321 is capable of having lie flat seats and there are airlines already doing that, and IFE should be standard. That would keep at least their medium haul dedicated 321s up to their 4 star standard. That aside, solid video Kevin! I would definitely look forward to having you onboard on one of my flights soon.
Upon boarding VN1344 a couple of weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the check in agent had assigned me an exit row. Let room for days! 😍 (Amiana was awesome btw, besides the way too hot ocean pool).
That’s what we (read: me) like to call the Expat Special 😅. I routinely need to ask checkin agents not to put me in an exit row (bc VN crew don’t like it when you attach things to the windows in those seats).
Actually before 2022, gate 15 and 26 were gate 8 and 9 International terminal (gate 15 domestic was used by both 2 terminals). From 2022 to now, both gates subordinate to domestic terminal.
In the flight stats, is the 0:55 the scheduled flight time? Because I thought i remembered it usually to be the actual flight time, and in this case it wouldn't make sense for the gate to gate time to be shorter. Excellent video nonetheless 👍
@@tfft Ah, that makes more sense lol. One more question out of curiosity: Why did you choose Thursdays and Saturdays for posting? Its unusual because they are so close with a big gap between each week. Or is it just your practical personal schedule? Keep up the great content!
Hello Kevin. Interesting vid, as always, thank you. I'm assuming you are resident in Vietnam. I have been there seven times and only the pandemic has thwarted me from having enjoyed 9 or 10 visits . I love the place. I've flown VNA both internationally and domestically several times, and agree, they are very consistent and enjoyable to fly with. I've flown into /out of HCMC, Hanoi, Dalat, Danang and Nha Trang (which I love) and I'm considering a holiday up there in September/October. It is a little unclear from your recent vids but is it still compulsory in Vietnam to wear masks on planes and in airports etc? Regards from NZ
In the airports no, on board technically yes, but it's no longer enforced unless flying to another country that also requires it, such as Korea (though all crew are required to and around half of pax will as well).
@@tfft Cheers thanks. Appreciate the heads up. Wearing masks has been common place in Asia e.g. Vietnam for a while, due to city air pollution, so I guess its just a continuum of that. They don't work for me so your feedback is helpful.
A 39-minute flight, and you only got offered a bottle of water or a moist towel, do better, Vietnam Airlines, at least make it a cold bottle of water 🤪. Jokes aside, honestly, for such a short hop, l wouldn't expect much more than being thrown a snack or drink as the FA's run down the aisle to take their seats again for landing. I was blown away by the number of flights each day between Hanoi and Ho chi Minh city and at Luna New Year that can be 100 each way per day, that's organisation on a whole other level, lm impressed. 👍
I'm not sure organization' is the word you'd use if you were at the airport during those days haha. Think, Amsterdam during their worst meltdown last summer 😂 But yea, organized or not, the number of flights they pump out of that tiny domestic terminal is impressive during LNY- especially keeping in mind Vietjet has almost as many flights of their own.
Dear Kevin, I hope you can put some video when the planes take off and landing of each airlines you report, so we can feel that we also there fly together with you. Sorry my English not so good 🙏❤
