I have the same problem at my Burien house. Installed the Stainless Steel mesh guards last summer. But with the damned fur needles, about 80% of the water is wicking over the edge as the needles build up. I dropped my gutters lower to increase the pitch of the gutter guards, but that didn't help either. Not sure what the heck to do!!

We've only ever found one product that works on fir needles. Check out MasterShield. It's not a DIY system but if you want this gutter clogging solved it's the one to investigate. Most other products are made for leaves.

All you have to do is spray off the pine needles once every couple of years with an ordinary garden hose. No product is flawless. But Gutter Helmet is definitely the most top of the line exterior overt irrigation protection system you can have installed on your home.
