The previous week gets my vote - really painterly feel to it.
Brilliant Ian!
Thank you 😊👍
Loved the final photos, especially the last week photo.
Definitely is last weeks foto more pleasing to the eye. More contrast, more vibrant colors and more depth/more 3D.
I agree, i think the light hitting the trees in the background added the extra depth
No doubt, if you open your eyes there is so much to see anywhere. All of my shooting is done in NE Pennsylvania basically. Not only is there a lot to find, when seasons change as they do here, scenes are completely different. And, when big scenes aren't working out, look at more details instead. Lots to see and shoot out there!! Have a great week!
Cheers buddy 👍
After living for more than 25 years in a coastal port in the Cantabrian Sea, I discovered, for photography, some small, but beautiful waterfalls in the middle of a dense forest. And possibly unknown to a large part of those born in the town, who only know look towards the sea and are unaware of the beauties they have in their forests .
A beautiful set of images. The moss growing on the old tree branches was just exquisite. For me the last week shot was the more compelling, with the stunning foliage really popping out against the background of the darker trunks.
So true, sometimes I lament my local area only has woodland, can't see more than a hundred metres as its flat as a pancake and trees everywhere, then I remember not 10 minutes walk from my house they filmed Jurrasic Park dominion, Sahara, James Bond and Avengers Age of Ultron amongst others. I was out walking my dogs the other day following rain and it was still cold and you could see the water evaporating off the ferns, looked absolutely stunning although typically, I didn't have my camera.
Very much enjoyed this video, Ian. Another vote for 'Last Week' (slightly more mid-range contrast, darker areas more rich in tone and color).
I find shooting local is much less stressful, I know if I didn't have a successful outing I can come back later to the location.
That is so true. Thanks 👍
Last weeks shot much preferred!
Good work, Ian. This week's for me.
I've just discovered your channel, I love how you explain in simple terms for a newbie like me how and why you take your photos. I've subscribed already
Ian - l wholeheartedly agree with everything you said in this video except perhaps for me, I favour woodland and more intimate landscape photography over larger landscapes for the simple reason that I feel there are so many more photographic opportunities in these settings. As you rightfully point out, it is not difficult to find new and interesting compositions in a woodland. The idea that there is nothing new to photograph can only apply to the bigger landscape, landscapes which more easily get peoples attention. Good to see another photographer taking his four-legged friend with him on his outings and a Border Collie too. Keep up the good work.
I. too, prefer last week's image because of the warmth.
Me too, Thanks 👍
You inspire again..heading out the door with camera and dog in local area. Thanks for the push. Love image at 11:31!
Love that! 🐾🐾
I cannot say one is better than the other; I like them both. Both photographs have different attributes. The light was better the previous week, but the colours were just different between the two weeks. In the previous week, there was a lower branch of something, left side, that has red leaves; a week later, most of those had fallen. Both are very engaging for different reasons. There are some compositions you could photograph every day and find something new.
Thanks so much for your thoughts 😊👍
I liked the second photo of revisited location much better seemed richer. Great video.
Wow, what a great place to wander around. Am lucky myself to live close to a state park. Walk daily with camera in hand. Shooting in the woods helps me to slow down and be more observant to what’s around me for potential shots
That's awesome 👍
I shoot a lot local too. We dont have epic nature here but I go out if the weather conditions enhance the locations
Thanks buddy 👍

I'm new to your channel. I love your work and watching Luna enjoy the moment! I would prefer that you listed your camera settings with each picture . Other than that, very nice!
Great video, always enjoy watching your channel Ian 👍🏻
Thanks buddy 👍
I wish my local area looked like your local area.😃
Thanks buddy 👍
Love being in woodlands with a camera. Getting off paths and in to the hidden places. Love the image at 9.20 and speaks to me of a Welsh woodland.
Thanks so much 👍🙏
Last week one gets my vote
Thanks buddy 👍
I always found woodlanf photography more difficult, but it was always rewarding. But now I've moved to the tropics and the woodland is completely different. I feel almost like a kid, having to learn this craft from the beginning again.
That's awesome and good luck photographing your new environment 👍😊
Just ordered a Zine and subscribed. Thanks. Hope to make it to Wales soon.
Hi really enjoying your channel and tips , as someone else requested Iwould love to see the settings when you show final photo . Cheers Pete Western Australia
Gorgeous photos-mysterious and dreamy. I agree with you that last week’s light was better. The warmer light kept my attention and invited me to stay in the photo just a bit longer. Well done.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated 👍
Another great episode but I'm a bit gutted with your black Friday deal on your brilliant astrophotography book 😢
Getting ready to head out tomorrow to try my hand at some woodland photography. Thanks for the inspiration. Fortunately, I will be in a redwood forest, hopefully making it a bit easier for me. For the record, I like the newer picture (this week’s) better.
Thanks buddy and good luck shooting the redwoods, i hope you get some great shots 👍
Mesmerizing photographs buddy , wishes from India 🇮🇳
Thank you 😊🙏
"Everything has been done before!" Uh, yeah, Solomon observed that thousands of years ago. Know what else has been done before? Commenting that everything has been done before 😂
The "new" part of any creative endeavor is the unique viewpoint of the person engaging in it, not the thing itself.
Also, there was a really cool rock behind you while you were photographing that first dead oak tree. Could be a really neat shot from a low, close angle.
Thanks buddy 👍
prefer last week it'pop's ..
me too 👍
Nice images. I find it difficult to find compositions but I think it's because I try to find too many instead of being happy with one or two, I need to realise that every shot isn't a keeper.
As for the two of the same composition, the most recent one is my favourite because I think the top balances it more.
Thanks so much 😊👍
Oops, meant photo at 7:35.
I like the pictures showed in this movie, but for me it happens all the time, it never looks near to what i see with my eyes. Mostly there is to much unnecessary in the shot, and different hights all get flat . What is it i do wrong
Thanks. I like last weeks photo better. Both are good but the previous one has a little more color therefore giving it a little more character. This gives I me a more uplifting happier emotion. The current one is more contemplative. This is very good but it’s early in the morning and I don’t want to be deep in thought right now.
Thanks for sharing! 😊👍
Please do not show the black with the white letters in the video, disturpt the images!
What on earth are you talking about??
I'm guessing jancusters is referring to 10:38. IMHO, it looks great. @@aacotyaa
I couldn’t agree more! My time spent walking in the woods in search of images provides amazing therapeutic benefits! And when you get a great photo it’s eccentric better! Thanks for taking me along!
Thanks for watching my friend. 👍
Both photos are beautiful , the ‘’last week’’ one is more of my kind of mood !!!!
I tried this during Covid lockdowns. Unless you do street photography then no hope. We have no decent woodland, all ivy ridden trees including the woodland floor, with very little mature decidious woodland. Beaches are just spances of sand. Intamate and macro does nothing for my photography juices. I tried week on week during covid lockdowns and it is not a good memory. Sorry, but Covid local then really was local. I don't travel much more than 40 miles now and wow what a difference. Suppose it is how you define "Local".
I like "Last Weeks" better due to the pinks of color, just the color impact for me! Both are great and record the change.
Totally agree! I think the sunset had a little more pink in the sky, adding colour to the scene 👍
Nice images. I love Luna she's so goofy 😂
She is haha 👍
