It looks like the plumbers plug is attached to some sort of male reducer fitting for the threads that’s probably why he’s using the plumbers plug to remove that, it happens quickly in the video but you can see it moving.
little hard to see in video but did the dye vanish around main drain? it looked like it didn't pull the dye in? and was it leaking in the other area or did you just clean up the brown dirty areas for a better looking pool bottom?
