paul simon and art garfunkel (simon & garfunkel) were a folk rock duo from the 50's & 60's. they did an evolved cover of an english folk song believed to have originated as a bard's tale from the 16th century. the lyrics have been modernized over the centuries and this particular medieval sounding melody was written during the 1800's. then paul simon gave it another makeover by melding the lyrics to his song "the side of a hill" into the old folk song.

Oh thank you so much for this! But a great Christmas present... Simon and Garfunkel resurrected this but it's a very old English folk song back when people used to make music with each other. I agree with you it's like he has a subwoofer attached to him somewhere. I really never heard a voice like his. I did want you to know there is one of these gentlemen who is given some extra time and a song and it's a marvelous song it's in Korean it's called If I Leave. Apparently it's from a TV series but it deals with the breakdown of the Korean monarchy land Japan took over. It's really remarkable I hope you listen to it. Your very first reaction made me think, "Huh?", but by any chance, have you ever heard the original Simon & Garfunkel song? I'm sorry if I misunderstood this. You live in North America and it's a super famous song, so you've heard it at least once, right? If you've never heard of it, you absolutely should. There must be a lot of sound sources in RUclips. Simon & Garfunkel's original is just two people, but it's more detailed, deep and beautiful.
I never lived in North America in my life, lol, I'm from Brazil and grew up in Africa, so most of my pop knowledge comes from you guys who suggest videos and I learn as I go.
