One of our traditional sweet corn cake in Romania is one of the most tasty ones. You need corn flour (polenta, but more fine done) a little of normal flour, cottage cheese, fresh cream, eggs, milk or kefir/sour milk or milk, butter, sugar, lemon zest and vanilla and some baking powder. It's called Alivanca.
Sounds delicious, as a NYC Irish-American the only Romanian food I had was Pastrami and roasted pig (my Irish family roasts pigs to like the snout, toes, ears, every part) I never knew corn was popular in Eastern Europe. Very cool, love Romania such a beautiful Christian nation.
Finally someone who actually knows how to make cornbread! I found a jiffy cookbook today while packing, and I threw it away. I told my mom "jiffy is nasty as hell, homeade cornbread tops em all!" Haha Looks delish! ❤ from Texas
The 420 gas electric was supposed to do that so the crow could hop to the right from the left my question is why do it in the first place if it was going to be a issue now? 😭
Jiffy cornbread is so easily hacked and makes some of the most delicious and amazing cornbread you’ve ever eaten! Just made a pan this weekend for about 40 people and EVERYONE commented it was the best they had ever had! You just can’t make it according to the recipe on the box… 😊
she used eggs?????? Mann my thing already on the stove top almost all the way done, and i usually check comments before making something but this one time i didn’t
Ahh! Memories that's how my late granny made her hot water corn bread she used lard instead of butter to grease her cast iron skillet. Sometimes she'd use Crisco
We have like this bread in yemen ,we call it kubbanah ,also there is many ways to make cornmeal bread ,shap as a mini pizzas,we call them malateet, and believe me test so great ,just one ingredient the lady in vedo does not add in her dough , we call it ,black seed ,its same seeds that, Turkish bakers, put them in their dough.any way thanks for this yummy recipe.
It depends on who I'm making it for. A lot of folks don't like the texture of stone ground or coarse, so I will opt for medium (sometimes fine) when I make this for gatherings. I love stone ground, personally though.
@@staysnatched thank you for taking the time to reply. I must admit I do not have anything to compare it to seeing as I am from the UK (sorry) but your recipe comes out really well every single time. Your pumpkin baked oatmeal is great too. I must be one of a handful of Brits who actually eats their pumpkins!
No. Polenta is more like a thick "pudding". Cornbread is actually a bread made of cornmeal. You can eat it with butter, jam or jelly or plain as a side to a meal.
I tried to follow the recipe and thought it turned out perfect until I tasted it. Mine just tasted as if you ate the corn meal from the bag, but just not dry and powdery. Not sure why it turned out like this
One of the best recipes out there. Corn kernels are a terrific addition. Thank you very much!
