I think you're right to assume riot got scared. Heartsteel had extreme expectations there's no way they're gonna match the same level of hype or enjoyment as KDA or true damage. Honestly i think fans would much rather have returning bands come back rather than have new ones, which is unfortunate for heartsteel.
i dont like the slo mo rapper in true damage could have done without that part, killed the fast pace dancy fun of it, i usually turn the song off at that verse. kda lyrically can be pretty weak depending on the song DRUM DUM DUM DUM DUMB and personally tired of hearing their best song over and over on beatsaber. I def preferred heartsteels paranoia. i dont even like the kind of music created by pentakill. so they are covering their bases for all their fans and that doesnt bother me.
I find it pretty funny that people always say "its just as good as K/DA and True Damage". But no one talks about Pentakill. Even though its the only Runeterra Band to actually have complete Albums and 3 Albums at that.
Was just about to say something along those lines. The sad part is, Pentakill will always be more niche, due to being in the genre that is losing on relevancy more and more. Not to say it will fade out, it just won't be as popular, which we all know how corporations are looking at. At least the concert was great and the music is fire.
That's because while Heartsteel/K/DA/True Damage are all also Riot virtual bands, they aren't the same type of project as Pentakill. Pentakill has so many albums and songs because they're way more focused on the music itself rather than building their characters and giving them detailed dynamics between eachother. Case in point, they only have 1 music video, despite their vastly larger number of songs, and I don't think we ever got promotional key art of them interacting in a character building way during their comebacks. Meanwhile, the other bands are moreso audiovisual projects, where the song is almost like a complement to the characters themselves who are the actual focus of the promotional campaign. Of course, that's a spectrum in itself, with Heartsteel being the clear more visual focused group while K/DA and True Damage sit midway through.
@@mr.shreddergaming1940 They were all made to sell skins at the end of the day. Especially Pentakill on it's conception actually, since the skins came before they had any songs at all, so they were just a metal inspired skinline and that was that. The difference is that aside from the sales, the other bands focus more on telling a story/providing compelling visuals while Pentakill is fully music centered, so without having to worry about MVs or extensive promotional materials Riot can turn all their efforts into music, which is why they have more songs. And it's fitting for the music genres they go for, pop and hiphop groups are usually more known for their visuals than metal groups.
unfortunately, metal is an increasingly more niche genre these days, however I think the quality of pentakill is very good nonetheless. I remember I was listening to the 3rd album on repeat when it first came out. But none of my other league friends knew it was even a think when I mentioned it to them. They just thought the new skins were a sort of update to the older ones or something along those lines. I think Riot has always had insanely good music production, even outside of league, their music for Valorant is also full of only BANGERS. If Riot would in a sense take music production for these "virtual bands" even MORE seriously by doing full albums you'd see popularity skyrocket. People know about KDA who've never played a game of league in their life, which goes to show how popular they got. I'm confident given the proper support that True Damage and Hearsteel could become just as big.
If I’m being honest, I could see Riot Games flipping this around. To me, the way Heartsteel messed up, kinda fits their style. Heartsteel didn’t feel like a prestigious group like KDA, but rather an underground group that’s starting to gain traction. Dudes tryna make music, they messed up, and they’re gonna get back on their feet. I feel that Riot could low key just make this apart of their lore. They could have Heartsteel members join a discord call and talk about how they could do better. I don’t know, but It feels Riot could pull a 180 and say that they did this on purpose. Idk, I’m optimistic I guess lol
Cool idea, but I don't really think the higher ups would go like "this fucked up? yeah make an all out comback", they would never take that risk. They did that shit with kda, you know why, and it KINDA paid off. Kda is mainly carried by pop stars, so the comeback was settled to be a hit. You really don't have that with HS.
@@iwontspreadmisinformation knowing riot, the possibility is kinda huge since they commit alot to a project that has a massive potential, and a boyband at that? after they already created a girl band? riot is notoriously known to invest a sht ton of money for marketing even if the project doesnt deliver the expected outcome. they are owned by tencent lmao they basically have endless amount of money, and its easy to see they can commit alot of resources to making this "boyband" succeed its predecessors, now the number one question is, is there enough fans or fangirls or just support in the community in general to motivate riot in committing resources to heartsteel?
The Baekhyun LeBron of kpop comment really made me laugh but I would like to emphasize to the people who don't know, he really is that big of a deal. He's like the Justin Timberlake of Korea if I had to make a comparison. He's part the boy group EXO but mainly promotes now as a soloist. EXO was BTS' main competitor for years even after having multiple members leave the group. Like Destiny's Child vs TLC kind of shit. Baekhyun is known for being an amazing singer like he can seriously sing. All this to say that it's extremely disappointing his leverage wasn't used the way it could've been.
seconding this! EXO was the BTS before BTS was even a thing. They were the biggest group at the time. It's a shame Heartsteel didn't pop off as much as it should given that he was a main part of the group.
@@furaha7737 exo walked so bts could run. until exo basically went on indefinite hiatus with all the members needing to do their military service, exo was beating bts at every turn. bts has done great for themselves and for kpop, but theres no sense in downplaying how impactful exo was before them.
My theory is that they had too much high expectations (hoping for a KDA 2.0) and when they saw that people were more excited to see new jeans (from my friends perspective.) I watched an documentary about riot games and their business plan is basically sacrificing one thing for the success of another ( ex. hard pivot towards valorant when it was released, leading to their infamous 127+ skins in 1 year instead of balance changes move.) But I do agree with this video overall, they had so much potential since unlike KDA, I was more interested in their lore rather that the song itself and that + a good song would have skyrocketed their fame.
new jeans performances also disappointing for me. They should just stand stills and sing. The dance just don't fit the song. 2019 show just so good we need another one to meet the standards.
The 127 skins per year have nothing to do with valorant. And LoL have been way more balanced than it ever was. So much so that you can actually see reddit post saying it was boring cause everything is too balance
I really hope for the return of Heartsteel - yes, they were screwed by Riot, but they still did INCREDIBLY well. And remember - All Out only got so much content BECAUSE KDA was a banger. Not everything is lost yet haha
Nah, they didn't hype it as much due to the serphine controversy. The fan base is too parascoial. So very much an L take, sorry, my guy. Roit played it safe and made nearly all the fan base happy.
I've only heard from people talking about it but the Seraphine issue sounded like a parasocial nightmare. Not making their premier all Boy Band be allowed to reach that level is definitely smart. When you see how thirsty people can get over animated hot guys, especially ones with these personalitied, it makes sense to tone down the hype.
I like Heartsteel the most of all bands. Love the boys. I only wish Riot let them sing. I get that rap is popular, but why is it that whenever a guy is supposed to show his skills, it has to rap.
The reason why they didn't hype up Heartsteel as much was because of how the whole Seraphine debacle gave people a bad taste in their mouths. The parasocial aspect and cynical advertisement put off a ton of people. The entire thing was using mental health as a gimmick to sell a skin for a champion who had a super rocky connection to the league universe as a whole and screamed "I WAS CONCEPTED AS A SKIN FIRST, CHAMPION SECOND!" So yeah nah, Riot cut down on the creepy parasocial aspect by simply going back to something more akin to that of KDA's first release. Heartsteel wasn't fumbled, although it was not given nearly as much love as it should've in terms of their key and splash art, everything else was done to a good amount, and I am confident enough to say that most of the Riot fanbase feels this exact way as well.
they definitely weren't confident in heartsteel at all, which really bummed a lot of us out who were hyped for it. they got the og four guys involved; sett, phel, ez, and kayn, and then gave them two more responsible members to keep them in line, and all their dynamics work so damn well!! i think they had everything to succeed but didn't have a lot of faith in it. i hope the success of it can contribute to hopefully some kind of comeback like k/da where things are pushed a little further to make it an undeniable banger. also.... i think ppl are overreacting about the "parasocial" thing tbh. same thing with seraphine; everyone knows these characters aren't real, but what's the issue in having a connection with fictional characters when that's literally the point of making good characters??? yes, some people can definitely take it too far, but it's just for fun! if someone's enjoying themselves harmlessly, i don't see the big deal in that. the loud minority can be intimidating, but i think heartsteel is great for what it is... i just wish we could've had the hype for more than just under a month.
Wait, K’sante is responsible? Also I see where you’re coming from in the second half of your comment. The problem isn’t that the majority of people can Roleplay in good fun, nor is it the people who get parasocial (that will happen no matter what), it’s the way they talk to fans that specifically endorses/promotes parasocial interactions which can be exploitative of people’s emotions for money. Again, is there a loud minority that gets blown up a shit ton? Duck yeah. However, the fact that they’re *specifically* looking to use that behavior is still fked up I will clarify I mean this more in Seraphine’s case as honestly I don’t see this holding as much water to Heartsteel
The seraphine thing was more because of the whole mental health thing that they pulled up, less so on the parasocial bit, although that definitely affected their choices
I'm still confused why they included members who don't really add anything sonically to the group. It's basically a 4 member group lol {I've at least never heard of a boygroup were two of the members are ONLY a composer or producer without being featured in the music itself.} - AND they didn't let Baekhyun hit one of his legendary SM high notes after the bridge, a crime e.e
Because they did it before with Yasuo in true damage, he had no vocal part in the song.(even thought it wasn't specifically a boy group we could argue that riot has done it before with him). I also don't think that affected HS negatively.
Honestly, I hope they make a return to Heartsteel to try and redeem the band with a new song. While yes, they fumbled with the band's start, they still can do more with them instead of letting it die. The same with True Damage as both only have one track (that is known of) and would LOVE to see more.
I know my comment is not likely to stand out but the hype of heartsteel on twitter with artists, stan accounts and shipping is unreal. There is a ton of fun being had and community engagement. These guys are super well loved and the skins likely sold very well because of it
Fair point. But I think the people engaging with that stuff are the very niche minority who are properly deep in the sauce like you or me. Like the average league palyer wouldn't see that.
I'm one of those people and I gotta say that this video and comments made very confused because from my pov they are incredible popular 😂 i was a small art account and now i get a lot of traction consistently with heartsteel content. but outside of my bubble, didn't they break records in terms of views, both for the MV and worlds? idk they dont seem like a fail to me
I think why Heartsteel fails is that you don't even know what genre the band is trying to do, it sounds like K-Pop, it got Rockstar in the lyrics, the rap is fire, there is no dance although the song is danceable, they include the composers as members? Huh? Yone and Aphelios don't sing (the composers) and yet they are included just because they are hot, K'Sante's part when he sings the chorus is voiced by Ezreal (Baekhyun) and it seems off when he sings it. The art style of the video is phenomenal but the direction of the video is messy for example; the one where they are fighting at the pit using motorcycles, who is the enemy? It is clear that Yone and Aphelios is dragging the Chariot that K'Sante is driving but what is the purpose of what they are doing? They are just running in circles. They crashed and suddenly Aphelios is in vessel with water? What is going on?
Well that's what bored guys do. They do random stuff and break shit. Chaotic but not malevolent. KDA has the refined feel to it. True damage as the Gangster atmosphere. I don't know much about pentakill that well
I personally really liked Heartsteel when it came out and as a Baekhyun/Exo fan I was hyped but looking back at it the song was a little too generic but it definitely was catchy and good enough but as an EXO fan I'm not satisfied on how they used Baekhyun's vocals. As others have said the main problem with heartsteel is that it's confusing, it's hard to pin point what are they exactly going for. Honestly I would love if they went for the rock/metal genre or R&B / Hiphop One thing I loved ab the live performance is that non-kpop fans wanted to bring down Baekhyun cause they thought he was lip syncing when he was just singing live as usual 😭 I do think there was a backtrack during the chorus but I could still hear his live vocals
I really like HEARTSTEEL!!! The dynamics between the guys are great, imo their relationships are much better portrayed than between the girls in KDA. And yes, I completely agree with you, if the song had been premiered during the ceremony itself and more content had been released at that time, it would have been much better. (but I must admit their tweets, discord calls, bloopers video, or arts of them dressing up, going to the mall, etc. are great) On the other hand I believe that we will see Heartseel again in a few years with maybe the actual EPs like kda and Pentakill did (but before that, there may be new True Damage content coming up - going with chronological order that would be it or a new music group ). Heartsteel fans also provide very cool fan content themselves. I've never been into fanfiction or fan songs, but Lost In Silence - a fan song for Aphelios for fanfic is great!!! (very relaxing elevator music with sad lyric haha)
Nah...don't think TD is coming back, they were a major flop, CO-ED projects are really hard to pull off, and the pay off wasn't great so I am assuming next year might be HS again
Also i mean they never built up the importance of heartsteel with KDA they did so much promotion where with heartsteel they did none it just came out like uhhh and the song itself was mid calscruby did cool and thats about it
Riot doing dirty to anything which isnt named KD/A. I still remember Pentakill Lost Chapter skins not having borders or icons because "it was not a major event" THEN COVEN WAS THE NEXT SKIN LINE AND IT HAD BORDERS AND ICONS???
Just opinion of someone who is just biased over other bands... Heartsteel slaps. That's what I want to say. Sure, I loved True Damage performance, KDA lived in my for months and Pentakill is just hands down the best. But come on. Boysband. Of one of the coolest boys in the game. My only issue is that Kayn's and K'sante voices doesnt match that much as Ezreal's and Sett do (Baekhyun doing gods job there). I wish they had more songs.
The song was "B A N G E R" the longest thats been stuck in my head out of all band/group riot ever released (except for conqueror). But the weird thing i realized is that, they didn't really felt like a boy band. Probably because of the music video. They were "living the life" instead of having dance segments. And the skins also didn't felt like from a boyband except for ez. I don't hate it tho but it did felt different. 8t was amazing to watch the bts tho. It's also one thing that i keep on repeat that i forgot its a league song in the first place.
First KDA was leaked (splashart) and skins were on PBE before finals and MV, True Damage was also revealed by skins being on PBE first (+trailer) and socials promotion was a extra when wr already knew about them, KDA AO was leaked because of gaming accessories collab art (not too major thing though, just spoiled Seraphine inclusion), technically only Pentakill III wasn't leaked, because Riotgamesmusic first teased it by changing profile pics and bg, before PBE skins reveal, and after that for 2 weeks we had a ARG and concert announcement.
It's really simple, they remembered what the audience who actually play LoL are like, not the ones who browse Twitter or Reddit. So they rushed them early to generate views and sales prior to opening ceremony.
I feel like Heartsteel flopped because of its priority on *selling* the skins. The band consists of Ezreal, Ksante, Kayn, Aphelios, Sett and Yone. It's nothing but moneymaker champions and 'oh, this champ needs a skin.' I cant lie, Ksante and Ezreal feel like the most genuine skins let alone thought out- from the outfits to the concept. I've never seen a skin so haplessly made and forced than Kayn.
@@sincro233 Kayn has a random eyepatch that came off at the start of the video and never came back. I do not remember or recall seeing shadow assassin at all in the MV. In game, his animations are unfitting and his voicelines are uninspired. At least Seraphine was about coming up and becoming K/DA. True Damage Ekko was voiced by a new VA (Thutmose). Lastly, these VFX bring nothing new. We've seen these VFX on Vi and Caitlyn's Valentine's skins. Rundown: - MIA Shadow Assassin in MV. - Dumb eyepatch, also MIA in MV. - No actual story or new actor for his VO. - Reused VFX from skins in the same year.
1.The VFX are completely new 2.the eyepatch is Rhaast his alter ego so when he takes it off rhaast taking over and thats why it was Rhaast singing his part 3.there is a story its that kayn has an alter ego stage self just like slim shady and the reason SA isnt in the music video is because its a WHAT IF side of the skin if he never let his alter ego take over the voice lines are alitte less but thats because the memory for the skin was at max because of the effort that went into the VFX and animations which feel clean as fuck and fit well no new voice actor is perfect as a kayn main we did NOT want someone else doing the voice
1:12 ...As it turns out, music videos tend to be the type of videos that tend to be rewatched, which, you know, may explain why it has a high view count Also, stuff like Starwalkin' while arguably bangers, could still be considered a "miss" by the music team because it wasn't at all what League players expected, ie. missing their target audience. Additionally, while you could blame it on being scared, I think it's entirely possible that they just had no time. Not only are they prepping for Arcane Season 2, alongside having GODS from NewJeans (which, I don't follow kpop but I hear they're extremely popular so they probably really wanted to cash in on that), and we also know that with the start of season cinematic that they are already starting to fall behind a bit, it's reasonable to conclude that they just had less time. They also couldn't really delay it to the next year because that would clash with Arcane.
I don't think Riot was scared of repeating the Seraphine release. I would say the problem lies with people at the company constantly changing. Marketing people responsible for Heartsteel were barely 20 year olds rather new hires (like under a year I believe). It's same story for me when it comes to the lack of consistency with splasharts, cause they prefer to pay coins to freelancers, every time picking someone else, instead of having artists at riot for long. So really, the flops happen because the company can't keep up consistency, since rotation of people working there is constantly changing, so no one can properly track what and how worked in the past. And honestly? I don't think Heartsteel flopped at all! The amount of fanarts and fanfics are still coming out now in the middle of December. Fans still are in the brainrot. While KDA didn't linger for that long afterwards. And please, let's not compare numbers of MV views of a 5 year old video with a month old video - of course the one that is up for longer will have more views. If you want to compare you need to check how many views KDA had after a month.
ik some ppl who bought the ENTIRE fucking set (they don’t even play the freaking champs) just cuz of settphel, kaynez and shit, i still can’t believe it 😭😭
listen ngl i only let my friend drag me into leauge bc of heartsteel. I did go feral over good looking fictional men... (all my tiktok reposts are about Kayn, Ezreal and Aphelios..)
biggest issue for me is that the song is just bad, they set the bar way too high for their music stuff with k/da and pentakill, now every subpar song just gets faded, kinda like the following albums of pentakills
Nope I don't think is due to Seraphine. The reason I think this happened is because of corporate greed half-assing everything. I imagine Riot suits saying "Oh, KDA and True Damage, did great? Just churn out a boy band, we don't have one of those" Just look at those splash arts and TB-Skyens breakdown of it. And yeah, the elephant on the room, the models. They thought they could get away with it as they did with KDA.
The performance was lame cos riot didnt have the hindsight to pick great performers or ppl with huge stage presence to make Heartsteel. It's South Korea, they had newjeans on the worlds track but the only person used to that level of spectacle onstage was Baekhyun, and even he was kinda lost there
I feel like they could honestly just give Ekko a solo career and bring back one of the two rappers. OR I was thinking Tyler The Creator would be a great option if he ever wanted to do it.
Something funny and depressing is Riot hype this new band 0 compare to kda or even true damage, only the fans of the concept for boyband and the settphelios shippers carry the hype, it was the worst debut, and they have a really interesting character choices (ngl we though varus or zed will be chosed but it was not bad to add yone and k'sante) but even with that they didn't make more with them, it was just a discord call, some images and the cinematic, that's all they make for a concept fans REALLY wanted to SEE and HEAR The music they make it was ok but not amazing or visually stuning, it was just "boys doing things", they don't even have a choreography (and yeah true damage didn't have choreo too but this was the oportunity to make a boys choreo, they debut the song in the COREA WORLDS, the country of kpop, and they decide to make a rare mix of backstreet boys + Idol concept), splash arts were average but not fancy or pretty, they look like splash arts for 950 skins in 2015 (only aphelios and kayn look "good", Sett is the worst)
Tbh people where just craving a K/DA and True damage comeback (especially true damage bc they only have one song unlike K/DA and penta). Pair that with a new boyband, scared of taking risks, band memberes and skinline name leaked way before, the meh marketing around it and having to compete with fucking NEWJEANS. I'm not suprised it kinda flopped. And as a wild rift player. It flopped even harder there... Riot released the heartsteel skins without Aphelios and K'sante being in the game. Which is weird bc K/DA all out was only released on wr when sera released there. K/DA ALL OUT also had a pretty good event with nice free rewards when the skins released. And the only reason they haven't released the true damage skins (besides senna it was her release wr skin), is bc Qiyana isn't on wr yet. So seeing riot release heartsteel without K'sante and Aphelios felt so damn weird. They didn't even get an event. It just felt like they where trying to cash in a quick check before the hype died down which sucked. Especially bc again people on wr from my perspective mostly wanted the pop/stars K/DA skins and the rest of true damage. Anyway im done talking... great video btw!
out of all the songs paranoia is my favorite one theres just somthing about it and the music video on top of that just kind of gives off vibes of goofing off with the boys , obviously its not gonna compete with the horny bait that is kda after all sex appeal sells but to me paranoia is unmatched in terms of style
This is why I didn't hear anything about this, I didn't hear anything about the group. I only heard the song when my yt shorts kept giving me chips from the ceremony. It's disappointing because the song is fun but was just pushed really badly
They didn’t advertise the skins around the same time they were releasing they had such a huge gap in between the videos and the skins. Also the splasharts are low effort and the concept art had much better outfits that tied the band together. They just played it too safe and flopped
I liked heartsteel but i do agree that its underwhelming compared to its other bands. I wish they do something better with heartsteel. I really wanted a boyband for the longest time. Also the performance in 2023 was also underwhelming it was a flat stage, you can barely see the dancers.
I wonder if the problem is because they are men, and people simp more for the girls? In any case, I think you are right, there was a long hanging with no content for a month until ceremony. If they had wanted to go super mega hyper pro, they could have released a second song during ceremony without saying anything and would be suprise mfkr factor. I'm a big fan of the band (actual adming of the latin america facebook fan page) And they deserve better, or a second song or something more, My friends and I felt kind of empty after the ceremony, because their song was too short, and we wanted to see more, yes we can even by pass the cgi thing, we just wanted more content. OR holograms as in true damage.
Why say “people” when you need to say “men” - women are alright simping for girl k pop bands, think about TWICE, BLACKPINK, hell, G-IDLE. Who do you think their main audience is, men? Of course they are men simping for them, it would be unusual for that to happen, but it’s mostly women who are in the fan base. In the West tho, yeah they would 100% simp just for the image, again, look at the LoL audience. So while both sexes are in the fan base, women would prevail. But look at the male k-pop girls: their fanbase, on the contrary, consists ONLY of women. Well I don’t mean that literally, but it dominates much more than women in the girl groups fan bases. It flopped cuz not only it’s k-pop which LoL western audience already dislikes (if not of Kda which was simp factor in the first place), it’s also a boy band instead of girl band - and LoL audience consists mostly of men which I’m sure you won’t doubt. There, you have it.
@@kaworuswife Women are also more likely to be bisexual leaning, as in they can find women attractive even if not romantically. My wife loves KDA cause she thinks they are hot and wants to be them, she loves heartsteel cause she thinks kayn's hot. She has a reason to like both she either can self insert or thinks they are attractive. Whereas I'm a guy and bisexual, I love heartsteel cause I think Ksante, ezreal and aphelios are hot and KDA for the same reason. But on the contrary and as exactly as you say the majority of my male friends think heartsteel is "cringe" "bad" or "weird" they can't express why they don't like it but it's obviously because they A don't like men and B can't or don't want to self insert as a "Kpop guy". So most men will take one look at it and it's an immediate nope cause they can't simp cause no attraction and they can't self insert cause gay bad, so it being a male group eliminated tens of millions of potential watchers/listeners from the very start.
yeah, thats exactly what i said myself. personally im bi woman and I like both hearsteel and k/da's image, k/da all out was the reason I started playing LoL in 2020, I like all of the musical groups equally (maybe Pentakill a little more bc of the Lost Chapter), I listen to all of the groups regularly, even if K/DA is kinda old and Pentakill is not a financial success either, I loved Paranoia as a song and still often listen to it, its music first rather than the image for me so its more or less irrelevant to me, but yeah, K/DA was the reason I started playing to me and yet none of the champs from the band are my fav lol But since the reason of all those groups existing is skins promotion in the first place the "thirst factor" is what Riot was preying on since you know how it is in the community and who gets the most skins, right?@@bradhurst6834
I wish they did more to connect with the band while waiting the music video. Seraphine had a whole social media page and even a comic. There was so much stuff to hype about while waiting the release. They have done good marketing before so why not do it again
Idk chief True Damage was a bit of a flop, but I guess it had to follow KDA so by comparison it was a flop idk. I don't care for them as much. Might just be my opinion
Heartsteel is great and I'm obsessed with them but I think KDA was bigger because kpop is more popular and Paranoia's style is very... well idk, I couldn't even guess what style it is because I'm not a music nerd lol
ALSO TRUE. And I think most people didn't mind that KDA had little to no lore behind it because all they cared about was the characters being hot and singing a banger.@@KUW0M1
All of the Music bands that RIOT creates have lore behind them mostly . Mostly some of their lore is explained to their bio and not to mention the comic KDA mostly.
@lledoluiztabag797 i agree, but i think most people who only watch the video and listen to songs don't actively know about this comic or the lore behind characters. Paranoia allowed the characters to express themselves and show more quirks if that makes sense. I am thinking about a lot of people who don't play League and listen to the music. It is hard for them to interact with the lore if it isn't directly showcased in the videos.
Yeah honestly i like kayn and sett and was excited but somehow the hype just died down right after i watch the mv, like nothing is wrong it's just, idk, the hype just died down for me personally lol
As much as i personally hate the third pentakill albulm i see why others like it. And ive atleast heard others tallking about it, but hearsteal i only heard about the one song from a small post a friend made and that was it. Wtf.
1:36 before i get any further: I was super disappointed actually. When comparing to KDA (specially popstar) the song itself is not as catchy. The group isn't presented as a unit as much as their female coutnerpart. there arent even the same amount of singers representing a champion each ( yea i know producer and song writer.. but still ). And on worlds performance, they werent even dancing. (if it's supposed to b kpop-y, one thing they are known for is their dancing) While the song itself grew on me, even tho it's not rly my style, it still feels lackluster. Even the whole designs and everything are all more geared towards guys, than guy-wanters. 7:41 welp same as everywhere I guess, guy-wanters just always get less. quantity and quality x: to give them the benefit of the doubt: they didnt want heartsteel to overshadow the anthem, like popstars did. but i suspect more its just, it's saver to spend more on the girls (Gods) than the guys(Paranoia). and yes the models looked ass, and the performances of the singers didn't look unified at all, they were all super seperate, doing their own thing... felt rly random they were supposed to have the highest budget yet this year x: didnt see that 9:37 my opinion... so when can we see smexy guys doing smexy things (dancing?)? (instead of just being goofy dumbasses) but i like heartsteel from the POV of the fanfic and shipping fandom. Mama Yone ftw
"riot music team deliveres starwalking is pure shit, its literally unlistenable, aswell as gods, community agrees that starwalking is shit and that gods is shit, community almost unanimously agreed that that is shit, and no i am not talking about kpop fans that liked it i am talking about people who grind ranked 12 hours a day that actually play that game, they are community, people who liked the song were just bystanders, gods was made to appeal and to get attention by people who will never play league, but why make it anthem of its biggest tournament then? that's a fail and same logic applies to lilniggaX and starwalking
Frankly I didn’t like the champions they chose. The only ones I liked were Ezreal, Aphelios, Kayn and that’s it. Also the song K-pop they chose was boring for me. I guess I was expecting a boy band with a different genre.
they were absolutely screwed lol i wish they let the heartsteel members have a full performance instead of newjeans. as a newjeans fan myself and a casual league player i do think that paranoia as the main song for this year shouldve been better promoted and performed in full at worlds instead of it being so rushed and disjointed. gods by newjeans is a side track and while a banger in itself isn't a song to hype a crowd up for the start of an event like worlds
I feel like honestly all of them together they don’t look like a boy band, Ksante looks like his in his late 30s dancing around with a bunch of 18 to 25 year olds. Sett as much as I love him also looks a bit out of place. Their outfits don’t seem too fully match, the splash art is bad, the song is mid compared to songs in the past. These look like a bunch of rich kids wanted to make a boy band, grabbed a random Ksante from somewhere, got uncoordinated/unpolished but cool/edgy clothing and filmed a video, they don’t feel like a high industry boy band like KDA and True Damage feel like high industry groups.
Hope your still reading comments: on paper I get your point on how riot releasing the song before the ceremony was bad because it killed the hype for the song and the band themselves, like imagine if they did released paranoia in the ceremony people will be like : "YOOO that's the song?" "Omg it rocks". They would have had the hype and wow kda had but because early release it killed the hype because like "oh nice paranoia I heard it song before😐" instead of "What is that yoooo😲😲😲". No wonder ma boys has few views than kda with the girls it had hype for their songs (I'm guessing because I wasn't interested in league back than). Nevertheless I love the song I put it as my ringtone and I love my boys just wish that they will get the popularity they deserve...but fr nothing beats kda which I think the best thing to come out of league. The end
I think it's hard to live up to the hype that K/DA and True Damage had, but not impossible..and I think it was also that they only have one released song..like..K/DA and True Damage both had multiple songs to build an audience over time and we simply don't have that with HEARTSTEEL *yet*
I will say I was impressed back when K/DA dropped their first song and it absolutely blew up. Still not sure what happened at that time since it was before I began playing LoL but they really had a huge success even though it was song number one for K/DA.
never really like the bands nor the music of them but it is sad to see that heartsteel was rushed also i know exactly what your channel about section means
the things that disappointed me the most with HS were: 1. the leaks. unfortunately people get too impatient and tend to ruin the fun. leaks are happening way more often now and you can't escape them. i got blasted by the usual twitter/reddit/instagram reposts. 2. music video is too fast paced and doesn't focus on which character is singing, it's all over the place unlike the previous music videos we've had that were cohesive, harmonious and spotlighting each member on their part. 3. they didn't utilize the potential of some characters. biggest miss for me is that they didn't do anything with Kayn's "alter ego" or Rhaast if you will. they could have easily started the MV with Kayn rapping first in Cal Scrubby's normal voice and then have a sequence where Rhaast takes over in a demonic voice similar to what they did with Ekko in Giants where he had 2 parts and 2 rappers. Yone and Aphelios could have had their own part mixed in the MV doing cool stuff like visualizing the melodies they created or something, the original felt so bland tbh and the fact that they used it to overshadow K'Sante's part is a crime, it felt like he wasn't even there. i truly hope they do a comeback and make it better tho because these characters have so much potential.
Riot was the one praying on the death of a rockstar fr

@@frogadicion You cannot comprehend what your comment means to me in this moment. Thanks G
I think you're right to assume riot got scared. Heartsteel had extreme expectations there's no way they're gonna match the same level of hype or enjoyment as KDA or true damage. Honestly i think fans would much rather have returning bands come back rather than have new ones, which is unfortunate for heartsteel.
i found heartsteel amazing. i loved it way more than kda/true dmg
You are saying that as if True Damage managed to match K/DA's success lmao
I have 3 whole albums of pentakill. I'm waiting for the number 4
@@pwpqwq7648 KDA can't even match KDA's success, lmao.
i dont like the slo mo rapper in true damage could have done without that part, killed the fast pace dancy fun of it, i usually turn the song off at that verse. kda lyrically can be pretty weak depending on the song DRUM DUM DUM DUM DUMB and personally tired of hearing their best song over and over on beatsaber.
@@yazzy1666 Feels like Pentakill was made to make music while the others were made to sell skins.
I find this to be such a cool take tbh
Cool idea, but I don't really think the higher ups would go like "this fucked up? yeah make an all out comback", they would never take that risk. They did that shit with kda, you know why, and it KINDA paid off. Kda is mainly carried by pop stars, so the comeback was settled to be a hit. You really don't have that with HS.
I would love this too. I think youre right in the idea that KDA is very prim and proper and I would love to see more messy and underground

Hella big thanks for the context, I'm not super deep in the kpop scene so I was wondering why he was such a big deal.
seconding this! EXO was the BTS before BTS was even a thing. They were the biggest group at the time. It's a shame Heartsteel didn't pop off as much as it should given that he was a main part of the group.

2019 show just so good we need another one to meet the standards.
what video was it?

Nah, they didn't hype it as much due to the serphine controversy. The fan base is too parascoial. So very much an L take, sorry, my guy. Roit played it safe and made nearly all the fan base happy.
I've only heard from people talking about it but the Seraphine issue sounded like a parasocial nightmare. Not making their premier all Boy Band be allowed to reach that level is definitely smart. When you see how thirsty people can get over animated hot guys, especially ones with these personalitied, it makes sense to tone down the hype.
Yeah pretty much a video about a nonexistent problem
League players have always been thirsty, letting people roleplay with them made it worse XD
Ngl i think whoever made this vid is mad that its not another kda/seraph clone
did you watch the video? he literally said this
I like Heartsteel the most of all bands.
The entire thing was using mental health as a gimmick to sell a skin for a champion who had a super rocky connection to the league universe as a whole and screamed "I WAS CONCEPTED AS A SKIN FIRST, CHAMPION SECOND!"
So yeah nah, Riot cut down on the creepy parasocial aspect by simply going back to something more akin to that of KDA's first release.
Duck yeah. However, the fact that they’re *specifically* looking to use that behavior is still fked up
I will clarify I mean this more in Seraphine’s case as honestly I don’t see this holding as much water to Heartsteel
The seraphine thing was more because of the whole mental health thing that they pulled up, less so on the parasocial bit, although that definitely affected their choices
I like heartsteel more than kda, i think it was another success
I'm one of those people and I gotta say that this video and comments made very confused because from my pov they are incredible popular 😂 i was a small art account and now i get a lot of traction consistently with heartsteel content. but outside of my bubble, didn't they break records in terms of views, both for the MV and worlds? idk they dont seem like a fail to me
It all seemed like it was a smash hit to me. There were like 100's of reaction videos to the song debut@@voltsm_
I don't know much about pentakill that well
It's really hard to replicate the lightning in a bottle that was KDA.
I'd've loved more Discord calls between the boys though
Said Starwalker was a Banger. Opinion denied.
While I think it's a good song. It nothing compared to paranoia lol.
Honestly I would love if they went for the rock/metal genre or R&B / Hiphop
One thing I loved ab the live performance is that non-kpop fans wanted to bring down Baekhyun cause they thought he was lip syncing when he was just singing live as usual 😭 I do think there was a backtrack during the chorus but I could still hear his live vocals
imagine kayn having a solo music video, like him changing into both of his forms and combining it that would be so cool

yep but imagine kayn changing his form to normal/rhaast/assasin changing his voice everytime@@sakurasepuku4374

Of all languages, dude decided to speak truths and facts. I just hope they dont get abandoned

I don't know which of the two fits less on a boy band scenario, but here we are.

Rundown:
- MIA Shadow Assassin in MV.
- Dumb eyepatch, also MIA in MV.
- No actual story or new actor for his VO.
- Reused VFX from skins in the same year.
1.The VFX are completely new
2.the eyepatch is Rhaast his alter ego so when he takes it off rhaast taking over
and thats why it was Rhaast singing his part
3.there is a story
its that kayn has an alter ego stage self just like slim shady and the reason SA isnt in the music video is because its a WHAT IF side of the skin if he never let his alter ego take over
the voice lines are alitte less but thats because the memory for the skin was at max because of the effort that went into the VFX and animations which feel clean as fuck and fit well
no new voice actor is perfect

oh yea 100% I wanted to legit cry when i saw the 3D models
1:12 ...As it turns out, music videos tend to be the type of videos that tend to be rewatched, which, you know, may explain why it has a high view count
Also, stuff like Starwalkin' while arguably bangers, could still be considered a "miss" by the music team because it wasn't at all what League players expected, ie. missing their target audience.
I liked the MV but tbh it kinda just looked like fortnite with the car scenes to me
LOL ive heard the fortnite comparison before shits too funny
If you want to compare you need to check how many views KDA had after a month.

biggest issue for me is that the song is just bad, they set the bar way too high for their music stuff with k/da and pentakill, now every subpar song just gets faded, kinda like the following albums of pentakills
Nope I don't think is due to Seraphine. The reason I think this happened is because of corporate greed half-assing everything. I imagine Riot suits saying "Oh, KDA and True Damage, did great? Just churn out a boy band, we don't have one of those"
Just look at those splash arts and TB-Skyens breakdown of it.

Something funny and depressing is Riot hype this new band 0 compare to kda or even true damage, only the fans of the concept for boyband and the settphelios shippers carry the hype, it was the worst debut, and they have a really interesting character choices (ngl we though varus or zed will be chosed but it was not bad to add yone and k'sante) but even with that they didn't make more with them, it was just a discord call, some images and the cinematic, that's all they make for a concept fans REALLY wanted to SEE and HEAR
The music they make it was ok but not amazing or visually stuning, it was just "boys doing things", they don't even have a choreography (and yeah true damage didn't have choreo too but this was the oportunity to make a boys choreo, they debut the song in the COREA WORLDS, the country of kpop, and they decide to make a rare mix of backstreet boys + Idol concept), splash arts were average but not fancy or pretty, they look like splash arts for 950 skins in 2015 (only aphelios and kayn look "good", Sett is the worst)
bro skipped a whole Pentakill III ARG promo..
Anyway im done talking... great video btw!
the worst part is that they rushed so hard that the master on youtube sucks, while on spotify is just fine
never thought my comment would make it in a league documentary at 4:57 LMAO
LOL what are the chances
out of all the songs paranoia is my favorite one theres just somthing about it and the music video on top of that just kind of gives off vibes of goofing off with the boys , obviously its not gonna compete with the horny bait that is kda after all sex appeal sells but to me paranoia is unmatched in terms of style
I'm a big fan of the band (actual adming of the latin america facebook fan page)
And they deserve better, or a second song or something more, My friends and I felt kind of empty after the ceremony, because their song was too short, and we wanted to see more, yes we can even by pass the cgi thing, we just wanted more content.
So most men will take one look at it and it's an immediate nope cause they can't simp cause no attraction and they can't self insert cause gay bad, so it being a male group eliminated tens of millions of potential watchers/listeners from the very start.
yeah, thats exactly what i said myself. personally im bi woman and I like both hearsteel and k/da's image, k/da all out was the reason I started playing LoL in 2020, I like all of the musical groups equally (maybe Pentakill a little more bc of the Lost Chapter), I listen to all of the groups regularly, even if K/DA is kinda old and Pentakill is not a financial success either, I loved Paranoia as a song and still often listen to it, its music first rather than the image for me so its more or less irrelevant to me, but yeah, K/DA was the reason I started playing to me and yet none of the champs from the band are my fav lol
But since the reason of all those groups existing is skins promotion in the first place the "thirst factor" is what Riot was preying on since you know how it is in the community and who gets the most skins, right?@@bradhurst6834
real, the ceremony CGI looked so goofy, I want to simp not laugh
I feel the issue with Heartsteel is that they feel too similar visually to True Damage, this streetwear group with not much to offer from K/DA
I wish they did more to connect with the band while waiting the music video. Seraphine had a whole social media page and even a comic. There was so much stuff to hype about while waiting the release. They have done good marketing before so why not do it again
Anyway heartsteel has become the second most popular group, they have more of 2 million listeners in spotify only behind kda
They got treated better then pentakill😢
Idk chief True Damage was a bit of a flop, but I guess it had to follow KDA so by comparison it was a flop idk. I don't care for them as much. Might just be my opinion
Heartsteel is great and I'm obsessed with them but I think KDA was bigger because kpop is more popular and Paranoia's style is very... well idk, I couldn't even guess what style it is because I'm not a music nerd lol
kda was bigger because theyre females
ALSO TRUE. And I think most people didn't mind that KDA had little to no lore behind it because all they cared about was the characters being hot and singing a banger.@@KUW0M1
They have a lore to be exactly
All of the Music bands that RIOT creates have lore behind them mostly .
Mostly some of their lore is explained to their bio and not to mention the comic KDA mostly.
@lledoluiztabag797 i agree, but i think most people who only watch the video and listen to songs don't actively know about this comic or the lore behind characters. Paranoia allowed the characters to express themselves and show more quirks if that makes sense.
I am thinking about a lot of people who don't play League and listen to the music. It is hard for them to interact with the lore if it isn't directly showcased in the videos.
But Riot teases k/da in battle pass teaser, with prestige kaisa. Not just drop.
7:41 welp same as everywhere I guess, guy-wanters just always get less. quantity and quality x:
to give them the benefit of the doubt: they didnt want heartsteel to overshadow the anthem, like popstars did.
but i suspect more its just, it's saver to spend more on the girls (Gods) than the guys(Paranoia).
and yes the models looked ass, and the performances of the singers didn't look unified at all, they were all super seperate, doing their own thing... felt rly random
they were supposed to have the highest budget yet this year x: didnt see that
9:37 my opinion... so when can we see smexy guys doing smexy things (dancing?)? (instead of just being goofy dumbasses)
but i like heartsteel from the POV of the fanfic and shipping fandom. Mama Yone ftw
Idc I’ve been listening to paranoia on repeat since it came out
"riot music team deliveres starwalking is pure shit, its literally unlistenable, aswell as gods, community agrees that starwalking is shit and that gods is shit, community almost unanimously agreed that that is shit, and no i am not talking about kpop fans that liked it i am talking about people who grind ranked 12 hours a day that actually play that game, they are community, people who liked the song were just bystanders, gods was made to appeal and to get attention by people who will never play league, but why make it anthem of its biggest tournament then? that's a fail and same logic applies to lilniggaX and starwalking
lilniggaX got me lul
Shoulda delayed Heartsteel until Hwei released and replaced K'Sante with Hwei. K"Sante seems out of place, to me, in Heartsteel.
Imagine making updates for the fantasy, lore-rich, MOBA game that makes you who you are... instead of k-pop.
This isn't even Kpop 😭 it would've been way better if they did Kpop.
I still do listen to Heartsteel idk…
Love the out of the blue jjk spoilers
The end
yes. however ezreal is rly cute with the new skin...
K/DA's first song blew up that people who have zero idea of league know of the song
lil nas x is mistake in background music why because listening song zycie jak poemat szymon wydra is the same this song is 15 years old.
The bloopers should of been posted first
TTRRRRUEEEEE
4:49 exactly why heartsteel didn't work.
I personally like paranoia
They prayin for the fall of a rockstar 😔
never really like the bands nor the music of them but it is sad to see that heartsteel was rushed
also i know exactly what your channel about section means
the only way to fight kda is gragas
the things that disappointed me the most with HS were:
1. the leaks. unfortunately people get too impatient and tend to ruin the fun. leaks are happening way more often now and you can't escape them. i got blasted by the usual twitter/reddit/instagram reposts.
2. music video is too fast paced and doesn't focus on which character is singing, it's all over the place unlike the previous music videos we've had that were cohesive, harmonious and spotlighting each member on their part.
3. they didn't utilize the potential of some characters. biggest miss for me is that they didn't do anything with Kayn's "alter ego" or Rhaast if you will. they could have easily started the MV with Kayn rapping first in Cal Scrubby's normal voice and then have a sequence where Rhaast takes over in a demonic voice similar to what they did with Ekko in Giants where he had 2 parts and 2 rappers.
