Ahh I’ll have to join the discord! Been enjoying the OG story since I got the full edition for Christmas. My team has just been full of digimon I like xD
question here, from someone who never played digimon story competitively: aren't the piercing skills WAY stronger than any non-piercing skills? you know, def-piercing, int-piercing etc? if no, how so? are they disabled/nerfed in hackers memory competitive?
Good question. In Hacker’s Memory, there’s this item called Memetan Replica. It *completely* blocks piercing damage, but the game will only give you one, so you have to carefully choose which member of your team will benefit from it the most. And are piercing skills better than non piercing skills? The short answer is yes. The long answer is: they are consistent, but their potential hits a limit. There are times when a non piercing move can do much more damage because it’s hitting targets with weak defenses. If a strong ATK skill hits a target with low DEF, then the numbers are typically bigger than a piercing skill. But there are lots of other variables that can affect these numbers too.
The funniest accident was the discovery of KingEtemon. I got him from a farm mon not expecting much, and his signature skill was hilariously good. He’s now in my lead team

I'll admit it's a good guide however I'm not much of an online player I'm just looking for digimon that have combination of high defense and high attack since I tend to "brute force" my way through enemies in story mode. Still this guide is very helpful and very professional well done. Also my main 3 digimon or "frontline" digimon as I like to call them since I always use them at the start of a battle consists of Alphamon, Omnimon and Magnamon
Hey Koori, got a few mons and was curious as to what cores and teams you'd recommend using them in. I currently run a core of MarineAngemon, Tentomon born Lilithmon, and Sistermon Blanc, with Rosemon, Angewomon and Ulforce VeeDramon
um an't memory cap 245 once you get all the memory/memory-dx chips? Heck i'm just finishing up chap 7 and already at 75 memory. and there is still enough chips between where i am now and end of story to get another 170.
So, I am VERY new to the Digimon franchise at all, let alone PVP. I think I would take just battles with my friends, no tournaments and random stuff. I don't know. I have two questions. 1) I know this is maybe not the intention, but you kinda made it sound like every digimon would have almost the same attacks. (Other than signature, of course). Could you say something more about this? 2) I looked at some SS and built this core of MarineAngemon, Leopardmon, and Kerpymon Black. I haven't done anything like planning moves and other stuff. Can you comment on this core, please? Thank you. :)
1) Oh, it’s definitely the intention. In the Cyber Sleuth games, *any* Digimon can learn *any* skill. But of course, every Digimon is unique from one another. Within the context of competitive play, you should give your Digimon skills that cater to their inherent strengths. 2) I see what you’re trying to do with this core, and I like it. That said, all 3 of your picks have naturally low defenses, so they can feel a little squishy. But since you also have well-rounded coverage, you just have to make sure your core can cover for each other.
@@KooriPlays By 1, I meant it seems like the pool of viable skills is narrow, so you are pretty much having the same skills over and over. I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well here... :P Anyway, thanks for your answers here. With the core, you're right. I balanced the types, but they are all magic users... I need some Attackers. At 60 Memory between those three, I can get like two more at about the 20 range. Maybe some damage reduction too.
Out of curiosity... I notice a number of teams use primarily Ultimate and up, while still slipping in an In Training here and there. What are some Champion and under Digimon worth considering, if not as a core then as a decent Filler option?
Great question! Ultimates can keep up well enough against Megas while still having a cheap memory cost, which is why it’s easy to include them. In-Training are also decent because ALL of them have the Free attribute, which means they don’t take super effective damage. Champions are Rookies are harder to fit because their stats can no longer keep up with Megas and they tend to have type-effectiveness issues; too frail to take resisted hits and too weak to fight back. Rare exceptions like Hudiemon are ok, because she has Free attribute and she has an abusive signature skill.
@@KooriPlays I was thinking that marineangemon would be a must, I have rosemon bm currently, later on when I use cherubimon vice id prob need to either somehow that character reversal or a good data type attacker? Or a support?

I think they’re fine. See if you can get one of them a move called “Character Reversal”. It will let your Beelzemon hit Vaccine types super effectively. The other solution of course is to simply have a Data type in your team as well.
@@KooriPlays thank you! I chose Lilithmon as she can go through Gatomon's and Renamon's lines. For supports, do you recommend buffers or debuffers? And which would be the better path to get one?
@@Mirrorjade21 Overall, I'd say Lilithmon. Her piercing skill is stronger, and her Support Skill helps you manage your SP better. She's an excellent partner for your MarineAngemon. Still, Beelzemon is a better partner for your Rosemon BM because both will improve the self-healing, but I just find him to be rather expensive and he runs out of SP more quickly.
Ok so my background is in Competitive Pokemon (VGC Doubles aka the official ruleset) and when I looked at Pvp Battles for Cyber Sleuth, unlike Pokemon VGC (and Smogon) I noticed that Cyber Sleuth doesn't have a species clause and you can use multiple of one digimon on a team at a time. I wanna ask: 1. Why is this the case? 2. Why put more than one of a Digimon on a team at a time and is it practical?
To answer your questions: 1) I don't know (: 2) Great question! So, in Cyber Sleuth, EVERYTHING stacks. This includes your passive skills. So, when you have the same Digimon present in the battlefield, their passives will stack together. With very, very few exceptions, passive skills typically affect ALL your active Digimon (on your side of the field). So, when you have 3 of the exact same Digimon out at the same time, the same skill will TRIPLE in power. That's why some teams run triple-Imperialdramon DM because they have a skill that increases Defense and Intelligence by 10% (which immediately becomes 30% without any boosting required just by having three Imperialdramon DM at the same time). Is it practical? Overall, no. Free Type Digimon can get away with this since they can't take super-effective damage (they're neutral). However, it becomes very difficult to pull off when you attempt this with Digimon that are *not* Free Type.
@@KooriPlays Thank you I think I understand. Another question about stats. We have stat modifiers in the form of EV training and IV breeding. Abi I understand is basically like EV training.
