If Khadija was a successful business woman, owning propery, employing men, a widow who I must assume inherited quite well, who chose Mohammad herself, if all that is true before Islam, what exactly changed?

You should search / read about how she was treated! After her previous husband's death, she was treated extremely poorly, and even Muhammed pbuh was treated poorly after they married because he married a widow. (If I'm remembering correctly 😅)
Khadijah (RA) was a successful women ma sha allah , it was not to be the same about all the women , quraan generalises it to all 'muslim' women. Hope this answers your question.

He forgot to mention that according to Quran men are allowed to strike women if they disobey ( Quran 4:34) . Prophet Muhammad also said that testimony of a woman is worth only half of testimony of a man. When asked why, he answered in Sahih al Bukhari 2658: The Prophet said, "Isn't the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?" The women said, "Yes." He said, "This is because of the deficiency of a woman's mind." He also said that no country will prosper that has a woman as a ruler.
Now if that doesn't sound like someone who doesn't have a high opinion of women, I don't know what does.
The strike is actually false as the word itself has 72 different meanings in Arabic, it wouldn’t make sense as it would contradict what prophet Muhammad said, I would love to go deep into this but you can research about this
The Quran doesn’t say strike women that is misinterpretation of mid evil socially conservative men
The Hadith also is false there several other Hadiths which tells men to treat women well
An explanation on why the Quran states that a woman’s testimony and/or intelligence is worth half a man’s would be nice. No matter how old the Quran is, if it’s the word of God, surely it shouldn’t suggest something so inaccurate.
I didn't understand the pary where she asked what were the reaction of the people during the revelation. I think that's a crucial question bc it's show the mentality at that time and it would be interresting to compare to our society

I am very new to islam, but could this be because of peoples lack of understanding of the Quran? If its not being read in Arabic, then how can we tell that anything we read from it is true. Scholars know this, but do the people that set the standard for culture truly understand the Quran? It just seems too complicated for an entire society to grasp without making fatal errors in their morals.

I have one muslim female friend and her parents force her everyday to wear hijab and if she refuses to wear they beat them.....Does Qur'an say this to force women to wear hijab or burkha...if they are not wearing does it mean that she is not a good women....?
Hello! I think this is a very unfortunate instance. I myself wear the hijab by choice, but I don't believe it should be forced on any woman by anybody. Also, I don't believe that the piety of a person in Islam should be judged upon a simple piece of cloth. Hope that helps. Have a nice day!
An Honest Unbiased Person who have understood whole Quran, knows very well, that Last testament of God which is Book of books and Truth of all Truths "Glorious Quran" clearly, very clearly honors respects and Protects Chaste Woman more than Man. But there are countless Fabricated Hadiths of Sunni and Shia sects which badly abuse woman. These so called Hadith books of Shia and Sunni sects have used so bad words for Woman=The Mother of Humanity that we are not writing here that words because we are afraid, our comments might be deleted. That kind of all Hadiths are indeed injected in Hadith Books by hypocrites of People of Book like Yemeni Rabbi K'ab al-Ahbar and Yemeni Rabbi Wahb bin Munibbah, and defeated Zoroastrians in order to defame Great Man 68:4 Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him).
Shaykh Rashid Rida (we are sure, Sister Safiyya knows about him) was the Top Most Scholar in Sham/Egypt in the Era of GOV of Uthman Turks. He writes: There are hadiths which we Muslim grade as Sahih but that Hadiths were Forged by hypocrites of People of Book. He is also Author of Tafseer Manar. Years ago, a brother of Hasan Banna of Ikhwan-al-Muslemeen wrote a Book "Cleansing Bukhari and Muslim from useless Hadiths". He wrote: hundreds of so called Hadiths in that two Sunni Books are fabricated and must be removed from that books. Even if we read Preface of Sahih Muslim, as Ibn Salah has pointed in his Muqaddemah that Muslim bin Hajjaj the author of Sahih-Muslim wrote "Ma indi Kull Shi Sahih". And I have just recorded which is Popular lore among People. So he also recorded in his Book "all black dogs are Devil".
Because not a single extra-Quranic Hadith was certified by Prophet and even never by Four Guided Caliphs; so, Logically Rationally and Legally we cannot classify that all extra-Quranic Hadiths as Sahih/Authentic.
Mark Mathew Luke and John are not scriptures but 4 mutually contradictory Hadith books of Christians. But from 2000 years old Tibetan Scrolls, we read one full Sermon of 2nd last Prophet of Deen-Islam Isa (Peace be upon him) in the praise of Woman. That Sermon must be read by all especially by men. Yes: If we read and understand whole Quran only by Quran's own internal Tasreef 18:54; (which mean: verses explain each other in multifaceted forms) it becomes Clear that Sole One Task which was given to Messenger of God by God was TO DELIVER QURAN clearly to People. So it is highly unreasonable to think, that God called Prophet Mohammad back even before the Quran was compiled as Book. In Quran, God calls again and again QURAN as BOOK. Besides; we see tons of Historical Reports and even over 50 reports in so called Hadiths Books: that Prophet forbade Army to carry Quran with them to the Lands of Enemy. But how Quran could be carried; if that was not in a Physical Form as a Book! Also we read in many books that when Prophet appointed Ibn Hatim as Governor of Yemen, he advised him: "Do not touch Quran unless you are Clean". In fact in same words, there is Verse in Quran, where God has ordained Prophet "No one should touch Quran unless he is Clean". Now point is: How can we touch some thing if that thing does not exist in a Physical Form! Even in Book of Sunni Sect "Bukhari" we read: After death of Prophet when people entered in Room of Prophet, they saw their Only Quran between two Bindings. Oldest Islamic history book of Ibn Hisham tells: In life of Prophet when Caliph Umar (not Muslim yet) entered in his house, he saw: Her sister was reciting a Book. Umar RA asked him, what are you reciting? Give me I want to read it too. But Sister told Umar RA, I cannot give this Book to you unless you take a bath and clean yourself. Umar took bath, and when he started to read Sura/Chapter Taha, he said: It cannot be from any Human. So he embraced Islam. This also shows: Quran in written form was present in life of Prophet.
Kindly also note: Paper was invented 800 years before the landing of Quran. and 500 years older than Quran "New Testament and Old testament" were found in ruins of Qaraman Library and Nag Hamadi Library of Essene=Hawaari (see Quran 3:52 too), and that all were in written form. So, People were writing their scriptures even 500 years before the landing of Quran.
So, there is tons and tons evidence that Quran as BOOK was present in Life of Prophet. After his death, 4 Caliphs just reprinted same copy and distributed in whole Islamic Empire. You can read tons of references in this Page about compilation of Quran: wp.me/p4GOwI-lv
And this is Fact: that during life of Prophet and 4 Guided Caliphs, there was COMPLETE ban on the writing of extra-Quranic Hadiths, Sunnah or Tafsir (exegesis of Quran). That ban was broken after year 722 A.D by Persian Imams of Zoroastrian Origin. Six Hadith Books of Sunni sect were CONCOCTED 250 years after the death of Prophet, and 4 Books of Shia sect were Concocted 300-500 years after Prophet. That books are mere Crude Gossipy history. There are true reports in that Books but there are also tons and tons of fabricated Reports in that books. *So, a wise will never build his faith on Gossipy History but only on Book of God.* God has said in 15:9, 17:88, 41:42, that God himself has taken responsibility to protect Quran. This is why, God has Put millions of Huffaaz for the Protection of Quran. Today we have over 50 million Huffaaz who memorize Quran cover to cover. If you call one Hafiz from Greenland, other from USA, other from Spain and other from Saudi Arabia; all the four will recite Quran with same words. Is it not a biggg miracle! Yes: Its witness is Quran because when a Person with Honest totally-Unbiased mind reads and understand last and final Book of God Quran, as a Researcher: He/She for sure realizes:
1- This Book cannot be from Human because it is verbatim Book of God. It is Only the scripture in which God talks to you directly. For example we read in Quran 50:16
"NOW, VERILY, *it is We* who have created man, and *We know* what his innermost self whispers within him: for *We are closer* to him than his neck-vein." (Asad)
2- Person will realize that From Adam to last Prophet Mohammad PBUH, all Prophets and Messengers of God preached Same One Message which is Deen-Islam. Deen mean: Divinely Prescribed way of Life". Islam is not a Religion (theocracy, MullahCracy, Imamo-Cracy etc,) but is Deen.
3- If Reader /Researcher of WHOLE Quran has Bright Conscience and is Honest to himself/herself; then there is over 90% probability, that after understanding Whole Quran, he will embrace Path of all Prophets which is Islam. *But if someone is destined to Hell already due to his/her stubborn Attitude; no one can guide him.*

I agree that Quran gave women many rights they did not have in the dark ages of arabia. But it should not stop there. Many shariah laws should be updated now in terms of inheritance now women pay bills just like men so they should receive equal amounts. Also divorce laws among others.

Most peaploe are confused whit words. Thye think qoran demeans or opresses the moslima while its the other whay around. Most don't even know that Allah swt and his messenger peace and blessings op on him order moslims to love there mother three times more than the father. The women is excused from the battlefield. What ever the moslima inherits is hers whlie the moslim is orderd to spend on his partents him whife and children. And also the poor the yatama and the so and so on. Allah in Quran said marry upto 4 woman than how Prophet Mohammed married 11 and one is child bribe Aisha and other one is adopted son divorced wife. More than that Quran said follow Mohammed this. means marry 11 and could disobey order of Allah about marrying upto 4 . Even further in about Mohammed we read that Aisha said she has never seen anyone suffer more pain than the messenger of Allah and Mohammed couldn't walk also before his death is disgusting. How strange it is know through Quran that Allah saved Jesus but not Mohammed ?
