  • After a very long time, here is Laminate Sample #43a - and it's about a kind of chopped strand mat that has stitching instead of binder and is epoxy compatible. It's also about Gurit Kerdyn PET core, which is made from recycled material. See links to materials below. And it's also about me struggling to stick my bag sealant tape because of very a slippery release agent! There is going to be a #43b, which will have the same materials, but will be infused. I am going to go into more detail about the core and resin uptake there.
Sorry for the 20 month delay in making more videos! I'm working on bunch more and hope to get back on a regular-ish schedule.

Mylar is PET, it is a release film in the manufacture of filament winding, because the resin does not adhere to it, so it would not work here either.

What kind of destruction? The science kind or the fun-to-watch kind?

@@ExploreCompositesmy vote for simple "bridge" test (you stand on board bridged between two cinder blocks) and the "guillotine" with anvil instead of blade for impact testing....:) love the channel!

Can that core material with kerfs running in both directions be able to conform to gentle compound curves? Great video as usual!

It doesn’t compound bend as well as it looks like it should - but it’ll do a lot of bend one way mixed with a little bit of bend the other way… it would struggle with too-tight a sphere!

What is the part number for the mold release?

Not sure - it is Zyvax Watershield - I think there is only one version of that product. Its a VOC free high-slip water based release.
