The Williams Brothers were my favorite part of the Andy Williams Christmas specials, and I will miss Andy most at Christmas time. Bob passed away in 2003, but Don and Dick survive. They all had such warm, rich voices, and their brotherly blend is unsurpassed.
I think I could watch and listen to this family sing all day long. It's a shame none of their performances from Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothersnightclub act survive on video.
My parents got me into this era of tv somewhat (Christmas specials and such but so much of it doesn't air anymore so it can't be watched) I am 33 for perspective.
Yes, they are singing harmonies. Andy is singing on top, a high tenor. Bob is singing a low tenor, Don is singing low tenor to baritone, and Dick is singing low baritone. That's how their four voices blend to create one sound.
Beautiful sound. I love their voices! Can you imagine having four brother's in your family; all talented singers and all handsome? Christmas would be even more heavenly.
The thing too Ken is that if this stuff gets watched then "kids" get into it. You are considered an older person if you say things like "kids never can watch this anymore" as "kids" (true 14 year olds don't necessarily know or connect to the world of the 60 something person unless introduced to their music. I remember Donny saying once on a interview that when he did Pyramid that high schoolers in the audience didn't "know that he sang" or "that he had a sister. That was 2000ish? :)
Tim Hainsworth But the song at the very end after the Merry Christmas and the bells thing, right before the clip stops ? I don't think thats an actual song, just something they made for this show. It ends with the lyrics "it's the favorite time of the year"
+The Groovy Files The last song is called "Winter Weather", and it's been recorded by many artists, ranging from Peggy Lee to Tony Bennett. The lyrics were adapted only slightly for the Williams Brothers (from "so the two of us can get together" to "so the four of us can get together").
There is no reason to not encourage the watching of these shows. I even got into old clips this Christmas of Andy Williams as a result of getting into Donny but I wouldn't assume a "connection" of these people to anyone modern as a result of a lot of passage of time ya know? Hope I don't offend you by saying that.
It's not Christmas without Andy and his Brothers!

I love the hokey pipes. The harmonies are fantastic, wonder if I could find any of their arrangements...

RIP Andy Williams
This will always mean Christmas to me -- too bad kids don't have this to grow up to anymore. Now we have 1000 channels and nothing on.
LOL!! I had to laugh out loud because it is so true. A 1000 channels of NOTHING.
them fellers sure enough can sing...by god!!

Anyone know the song they sing right before the end ? Or maybe was just a song they made for this show.
Carol of the Bells, Merry Christmas
Tim Hainsworth

Thx for info gonna check it out :)
They aren't singing any harmonies. The harmonies are from the back-up. The brothers are in unison.
