    Hows the edge retention on the knife ? Is it any good ? Been thinking of making one myself but just need some confirmation that the steel is allright to work with , thanks allot 😁

      Thank you very much for your comments! It seems to work fine until now... Basically I use it to cut small pieces of wood (kindling) as you saw on the video.

    Я понял, что ничего не понял. Эта шина не литая, а склёпана из нескольких частей. По сути, после того как он её пообрезал и заточил, эта мачета должна раслоится на три части.

      Believe me... I cut a LOT of wood with this chainsaw bar before transforming it into a machete. It was not working any more...

      @@RustisGoldThat bar looked like it had seen a lot of use, sometimes mine would get to the point that they need to be replaced and I just toss them...This is a great idea to make them into a useful tool. I wish I had seen your video 35 years ago

    I highly doubt chainsaw bars are made of any kind of steel that's suitable for making a blade .

      Riveted ones are usually high quality stainless heat treated on the guides, one piece are tool steel. At least that's what good name brand ones are.

    Did you do any sort of heat treating or tempering of the blade before you put a handle on it??

      No I didn't...This metal bar is hard as a rock and flexible at the same time. It seems to be working properly for the moment.

    Beautiful and classy at the same time...If I was still living in the bush I definitely would be making them..maybe not so deluxe as this one but all the same functional...thanks for the great video...from an old BC faller/trapper....BS; Epoxy putty makes a strong and easy-to-do handle and you can even make it match your exact individual hand grip by squeezing it with your hand before it hardens up.

      Thank you very much for your comments! You are right I could have done the heat treatment but chainsaw bars are such a hard material that I thought I could skip it. After all I only want to use it for cutting small pieces of wood for starting my fireplace.

      I thought, as long as you do not heat the metal while grinding or cutting over 350 degrees F or so, you will not destroy the original temper and it will retain an edge well without extra heat treatment

      Yes it's the 5 minute epoxy type. In my opinion I think it is the best type of glue. 😊👍
