It is a function performed for the first solid meal given to the child.not considering cerelac etc.the child is introduced to normal food, which she is going to have herafter.for this also a good day and time is marked and the ceremony is done.normally it would be Prasad like kheer.both the grandparent couple feed first, following which the child is blessed for a healthy life.on the same day things like gold , silver book , pen, music etc are placed in front of the child.It is a simple belief that whatever the child touches first would be her field of expertise in future.so whatever your options are, you can place, like stethoscopes, or anything
