An observation: Older generations 'Hell No', while younger generations 'Let's think about it'. He wants the oil and arctic, this could be a checkmate with the current state of economic affairs. Younger Canadians have ZERO hope of making it in today's Canada, but there is a ton of opportunity if we merge. Older Canadians do not want to give up their healthcare they've been paying into. If healthcare can be handled at state level, and Canadian states get representation in government then this could be a very big kick in the economic butt that Canadians need. If this keeps escalating I hope we can abandon the knee jerk 'no chance in hell' view and at least have a conversation. I'd be open to hearing what the USA would propose.

You do know the losers of the civil war lost their right to own property and voting rights? Take a look at Puerto Rico. The US would rape our natural resources, not use our state of the art processes and attendance to conservation, safety and site clean up. It would be US business that would run Canada - not Canadians. There is zero advantage. There is an advantage in getting rid of the Liberals. Yes. Canada needs massive help and Trump is the only way back from the current conditions. For example working for 35 years in the USA and paying in the full amount for Social Security you would retire with about $3 grand USD a month. In Canada you get $1,433.00 CAD a month. You could buy a house with the retirement income in the USA. In Canada you struggle to buy food. Choose one or the other.

You think the Americans don't have affordability issues. How much do do they pay for health insurance. As much as Derek has some wacky thoughts in the past his numbers on the trade in balance are fairly accurate. Both countries benefit from this trading relationship. Any partnership is based upon trust. Trumps history of honesty and integrity is terrible. A history of not paying his bills is legendary. The many small contractors who worked on his properties in New York that got stiffed. Trump is unable to honour any kind of an arrangement without the need to screw someone along the way. This has been well documented. Yea maybe some mutual benefit to different kind of economic partnership but not with this guy. Maybe four years from now with an honest broker that you can trust.

You are correct. Also, the US is a corporation too, since about 1870. Similar for Canada. That was the real reason for the American Civil War, though you never learn that. The abolition of slavery in the U.S. was just a nice result, but was not the real reason for the Civil War.
Canada, on paper, has never had an official head of state since Queen Victoria passed away in 1901. Britain gave Canada the ability to develop their own system, but that never happened. We’ve simply defaulted to having the current British monarch as head of state. I think the turmoil with Trudeau, means Canada will go through some changes. Certainly a smaller central government would be a start. And a return to Jesus. A belief in God, means you care about corruption. We lack righteousness in today’s society.

The U.S has 12 carier fleets, 470 ships total. WE protect 🇨🇦 Canada. 90% of you guys live within 150 miles of the border, your entire economy is nothing more than trading with us, you're a default tributary state. You exaggerate the tiny differences between us in what Freud calls "the narcissism of small differences". You're affected by what we do even more than your own government. Except without a say in anything. Becoming the 51st - 60th states, would give you 1/6th a say in the senate & another 40 house seats also about 1/12th. There's nothing that says states can't have a single payer government healthcare or give up the metric system (I hope we adopt it). Switching to the U.S dollar would make every Canadian immediately 30% richer. What am I missing? I'm not seeing anything but upside.

It shows the year end report of the "business corporation" of CANADA'S earnings. And the head office address is listed there as well in Washington DC. This is why Trump is not letting this go about merging the two "countries." It is time we were told the truth and it will benefit both countries immensely! USA, MEXICO, & CANADah should unite as one power. USA virtually owns the Panama canal (they built it-and gifted it to Panama-they ought to own it outright); then they ought to share it’s profits with the country of Panama and the newly united three countries (Canada, Mexico & USA). Also to cut down on cartel between South America and Central America, the newly formed powers (Canada, USA & Mexico) should make a highway through the Darien Gap between Panama and Columbia, forcing all drug smuggling to be monitored and curtailed by police & army. Also put in a very good ferry service between Panama and Columbia.
The drugs the US have criminalized ought to be decriminalized making them not profitable to the cartels. Permit safe legal use of opiates, cocaine, psilocybin, ketamine, LSD, and all other (under the knowledge that all drugs are not bad) safe under supervision drugs, in medical facilities (clinics and hospitals-designed especially for the mentally ill who were oppressed to their condition because of greedy government’s oppression). They need to make healthcare universal, paid by our taxes and fundraising. Our lands need healing. 80% of people suffer from some form of mental illness due to governmental oppression and abuse of powers.
