When i tried doing this for the first time i went o. The curb and hit the gas in reverse and hit a i was like fuck my car nooo but thankfully notjing happened
I haven't had to parallel park in a long time. When I first got my license I was always nervous about it because where I grew up people seemed to always park on the street with barely a car's length between them.
If you managed to get in without hitting anyone, you were lucky if you had a foot of space to play with. Which made getting out even more nerve wracking with anything besides a compact car.
easiest way to do this, is get side by side with the park. Stop, look behind you, (blind spots), turn the wheel 1 TURN, begin reversing, once the symbol of their car is in the middle of your passenger windown, STOP, turn the wheel all the way to to the left, and reverse. EASY!
im taking my test in litterally 2 hours. and have never parallel parked in my life lol. wish me luck tho

What do you mean by failed it? Do you mean you just didn't park correctly or did you bump into curb/cones? I have to take my test in a week, and I know the parallel parking is gonna screw me up.
honestly, i rolled up on the curb and almost hit a tree.
Once your rear passenger door is even with their rear bumper... (this is not clear and the video does not show where this point is) to start turning the wheel. I will try.

I think it's vague too because vehicles are different in length.

Yeaaaa if you lived in the suburbs this would apply. I live in the city and spots have a fraction of that space and you have 2.5 seconds to park before someone starts honking lol
Informative...so besides "Taking it slowly," which is a must, I always turn the wheel first before the letting the car move, people don't realize that your angle of attack changes if you are in motion, thus it can become harder to judge the corners and the curb. If you "cut" or turn the wheel as far as you can judge to enter the correct angle of the parking spot that gives you the best chance of completing the park in as least amount of steps as possible, it becomes easier and easier over time.

I took my driving test about 4 years ago, i didnt have to parallel park. And actually i have never had too even long after having my license
I know parallel parking is hard, but it's a good thing if you can do it! You can have more parking options.

But isn't it a shame that you can't do it? I mean if some emergency or other unexpected thing happens that requires you to move to a place where parallel parking is inevitable, you'd have to refuse to drive for that reason. Sigh.
I don't think it's shameful to not knowing how to parallel park. But like I said, it's still a great skill to learn! Especially if you travel to very dense cities, you might need it. My grandmother have been driving for almost 20 years, but she never had to parallel park. Unfortunately for me, I have to parallel park like everyday because I don't have enough space for my car in the garage.

My boy, it's clear. When you see that you're close to the bumper of the other car you should turn the wheel to the side you're parking in.

If you start turning toward the space too soon, you can hit the bumper of the front car with the right side of your car. I suggest lining up the end of your rear mirror with the other car's rear mirror, or their wheels with your wheels, before turning the wheel.
Everyone listen up.... You can and will pass this test... So I was getting ready to take my test... But I had been practicing with my moms car for weeks till I got good at parallel parking... So I go to the DMV in Texas, then the inspection of the car came, lights, etc... Last minute guys says sorry there's a problem with your insurance I can't take u out get another vehicle... So I'm like ok... Go to insurance they trying to charge me over 100$ dollars... So I borrowed my moms friends car a tiny tiny car... Went two days after with no knowledge of her car... Pass the test easy as easy can be... So I say to you its easy..really easy...failing makes u more confident... Trust u got this

I live in Stanford CT and the parallel parking spaces are never that big for me, this was kid of helpful but really all you guys did was state the obvious
in romania, this is part of the driving license test, and you have to do it perfect out of the first try, you are not allowed to do maneuvers once you get in the parking spot.
its so easy doing parallel parking especially while driving some small ass tiny car but all my life I've only drove big duly trucks it was challenging but I still passed the test

Thanks for that bit of information. I almost forgot that they made rear wheel drive cars since it has been many years that I drove one. Sounds like it would be worthwhile to rent a rear wheel drive car if I do have to take another driver's test in a couple of years.

Haven't parallel parked in almost 2 years, it's just so tedious, but I gotta take my test today. 😕
Lesson of this video is if you follow the advise of multiple voices for one simple task, you will definitely hit the forward vehicle's rear bumper like the flash card dude did in the video.
My problem is still knowing when to turn the wheel all the way to the right. I either back in too sharp or not that sharp when turning the wheel to the right when I start....then I end up having to adjust slightly while car is backing in and turning steering to right and left repeatedly as neededly...

I am in Morocco I have never seen that much space when I want to park near my office or home. If someone is unable to park in there, I will never let him drive.

Nice answer. Start by going to a driving school. They teach you the appropriate techniques. You should be able to get your license easy. It should be obligated imo.

in omaha all they do is make you drive one block, do a few left and right turn's, to park ANYWHERE in the dmv parking lot. i failed my test twice, but passed my third try.

Pudding first time I failed ! Went back a week later and passed ! 🤗 luckily , I didn’t have to do this only thing they made me do was pull to the side of the road and reverse

Pudding Well, when making a right turn I was supposed to look through my right mirror and turn my head and make sure they’re is no one in the bicycle lane then proceed to enter the bicycle lane, turn my head one more time to back check that no one is coming on a bike then I’m able to make my right turn. What I was doing was not even entering the bicycle lane at all I was just turning she said that incorrect because people behind might think I’m going straight instead of turning and hit me from behind. entering the bicycle lane and going more to the corner let’s them know that you’re turning. I hope you that makes sense to you I suck at explaining 😂 let me know how your test goes !!💕

It's so easy, just align your ass to the car next to you, then do a full turn to the side, and just guide it in, simple and quick. even if you mess up it's easy to correct.
Full turn to which side? You guys u explain not knowing that ,those reading are a mixed bag,,,learners ,,,beginners
well that is good if you want to get 2 points docked at DMV, one, she didnt move her right hand behind the passengers seat when entering the reverse motion and 2. she didnt pull up the emergency brake which all california dmv drivers are trained to look for when you finish your test. so there you go it is a good way to lose 2 points at dmv and possibly fail your drivers test. :-)

I got my G2 road test coming up tomorrow and I feel like I have everything down EXCEPT for the parking. Why do they gotta make you do parallel parking when you never use it?
And what's worse is that I gotta do parking IN A PARKING LOT!!! I can't even remember any of that at all!

Lol well there is an infinity that can auto parallel park iirc. But i mean manual steering (non power) power steering makes the car easier to turn when stationary. A non power assist or "manual" steering car needs to be moving to make the wheel easy to turn.
i hit the curb on my driving test and stalled the engine, but still passed, because i stopped to let someone cross the street and didnt make any other mistakes,

Yes.this tactic works! However. In NW Washington DC. In work truck.with meter parking. Good luck! We all know in DMV area. I have good luck at 14and G.right at 9:30. And Massachusetts corridor at same time. Pay to park on phone u usually can Add 1 to 2 hours on top of 2 hr limit.
If I don't do it right from the first time, I just don't end up doing it right after. It's a one shot deal for me...grrr!

The Places to take my test here, they only give you approx 1ft of length longer then your car, so you have almost NO ROOM to parallel. What do i do now?? It's not fair!
@DarkNation58 Stop parallel to the parking space and put your blinker on until they realize what you're doing.

this isn't flawless parallel parking! the car isn't even parallel with the curb. for anyone about to take their test who is getting freaked out, this is the way that i was taught. you pull up next to the car so that your side mirror is aligned with the other car's driver's door handle. you then turn the wheel one complete turn to the right and back up until you are at a 10:00 angle (and your side mirror completely covers their tail light). then turn the wheel all the way to the left and back the rest of the way in. also if on your test the person opens up the passenger door and asks if you're happy with how close/far you are in relation to the curb, that probably means that you should say no and fix it. good luck to everyone on their tests!!!!! sorry if this confused you further.
Help when do you start turning clockwise some people say as soon as you start backing up and others say when your front tires reaches the rear tires of the car in front i dont get it

Can I schedule two driving test in two seperate DMV locations? Say I schedule one road test in one DMV then at another for the next day in case a I fail the first I will just go to another location. Ik you can't schedule two road test at one location
ah right fair enough :) it just seems like there isn't as much testing in the US but i've only spoken to a few Americans so maybe i'm wrong :)

I reversed to a tree today. luckily the car in front of which I was going to park was parked behind the tree.

i really wish it was so easy to parallel park in India..our roads are fucking smaller and it really becomes difficult for drivers here..
@SilverPaladin2 i did, flawlessly. between cones, in my country we don't have to park amongst real cars during the test. Now i have to park near my house and there are no cones :D
