This performance is the only evidence that anyone needs to show why he is the greatest guitar player in the history of recorded music...
I agree. Hendrix and Van Halen are on their own planets.
So very true!
The solo has never been matched or bettered by another guitarist
@@donjohn2695 my buddy said jeff beck was better. We no longer speak.
@@mattdelany6799 beck was amazing also I saw a interview with Jeff which he said when he first heard Jimi he thought about finding something else to do for a living because he couldn't believe what Hendrix could do but Jimi also was a huge Jeff beck fan
I was at this show, and I think eveyone's jaw just hit the floor when Jimi played this. Consider that this is just about 50 years ago, and to this day nobody can touch the genius that was Jimi Hendrix. Note the delay between the end of the song and when people start clapping - we were all just stunned.
What a great memory! Thank you for this recollection
Wow! I wish I was there!
LUCKY!!!!!
It was a moment in time that God blessed us with through Jimi that night
That was Hendrix‘s final album that live performance with the band of Gypsies
Easily one of the greatest performances in rock history. Not only does Jimi play a phenomenal guitar solo incorporating rock, blues, and jazz, but he also recreates the sounds of war with machine guns, planes dive bombing, explosions, and screams of terror. A true masterpiece performed during the Vietnam war timeframe. Sadly he died about 10 months later.
We also have to be thankful to the people who recorded this, amazing job.
Greatest live recording of all time!
And you also realize its only the second song in the set, and also did 2 shows the day before and did one more this same day. What energy. The songs for groovy children compilation from the Filmore east shows are a testament to his live abilities. You're literally hearing what no other human is capable of.
The Inglewood Forum tapes probably have one of the crazier versions of machine gun but the audio is so bad. Props to those amateur recording dudes that brought their home rigs to these concerts cuz that is all we have for evidence of what this guy could do.
This wasn't Jimi's first go at replicating the sounds of war with his strat. He earlier did it with his take on the bombs bursting in the air segment of the Star Spangled Banner.
What's sad is Jimi didn't make a penny off this masterpiece - The whole album was to settle a civil suit against former management - There will never be another Hendrix 🎸
The BEST guitar playing ever right there. No argument.
But, but, what about.. Never mind. 🤔😂😂
That's just an Opinion but I can't deny that it's WICKED!!
I agree with you man
For me three men changed guitar playing when they picked it up…those to me are chuck berry, jimi hrndrix and of course Eddie Van Halen
He was the best there ever was and the best there ever will be
GREATEST PERFORMANCE IN HISTORY. Yes, I yelled it. That high he hit is impossible. I have never listened to a song that made me visualize an event like this. The helicopters, the machine-gun fire, the people yelling for help. I heard it all without a word. Only one man can do that; Jimi. Talk to them, Jimi!! Let them know.
100 %
Yeah I agree the Beautiful sound I have ever heard.

Best comment ever, buddy ! I love when people get it…..
As a lifelong, fanatical Hendrix fan, it warms my heart when I see our people that truly GET IT! I love this!
Oh my god..yes we do..the singing of the strath..the attack its so damned Hard to do..Jimi is a feeling
that's exactly what I wanted to say.......... for folks who weren't around at the time (1969) it's great to see that there always will be some people willing to listen to something completely different from everything else. I don't really know just how Jimi Hendrix did this but it is one of the greatest artistic statements ever made by one of the true innovators in music as an art. I have been listening to this song on and off for about fifty years and am still overwhelmed by what I hear. No kind of studio effects or technology, just bare bones artistic expression. And to Asia and BJ....... it was quite apparent that you were actually moved by what you heard. I loved your reactions.
Same
I saw your episode on Eddie Van Halen & although he was brilliant & certainly had genius about him, you have to understand, Jimi did this within a three year period changing almost completely the language of the electric guitar, while also writing innovative & classic songs. Nothing against Van Halen , he surely innovated, but with Jimi , the musical well was just a tad or 2 deeper.
Dam that's good
That was one drum set, one bass guitar, one Stratocaster and one Jimi made all that sonic wonderfulness….. in 1970. No fancy gear like today, that was all Jimi.
Very good point
he had effects on the guitar and his rig, but yes the amount of space this trio could fill up is not easily recreated nowadays.
Preach. I agree brother.
Effects? 2 or 3 100 watt Marshall stacks, a Univibe pedal, a Crybaby Wah Wah and a Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face. Those were his effects. Compare his rig with today's guitarists.
Go at!!!!
Been listening to this song for several decades. When he holds that note for several seconds, it sill gives me goose bumps.
Me Too Bruh!!! Me Too!
Till the day I leave this earth..that first note in his solo will give me chills..
That note has to be most Raw note ever played🔥
Hell yea that’s my favorite part. He sacrifices him self in every song he plays. This one especially.
Been listening to Jimi for 50 years, goosebumps and trying to catch my breath right now.
Same here!
Still can’t turn it up loud enough !
amen
Like a woodpecker with a headache.
Same here for 50 years and I still get goosebumps.
7:27 the speed and intensity of the licks he's playing still gives me goosebumps to this day. *Freakin' unbelievable*
My favorite part......
For me, this is when the turmoil is hitting and confusion and calling for help are happening. I love your comment.
@@raiderfan71269 Mine also, its mind blowing
yeah it's machine gun bursts... he never plays like this, just straight even note spacing shredding like this.
One of the greatest tracks ever recorded imo
Imagine this was a live performance. He actually recorded 2 versions in Filmore. Both are on spotify
I had the great fortune to see Jimi perform this at the Fillmore East. I was not at this performance, but rather at the first show on New Years Eve. Me and my buddy sat in the 4th row on the left side of the stage. Truly memorable. I saw Jimi a total of 4 times before he died, the last time at Randall's Island here in NYC. RIP Jimi, we miss you forever.
If Machine Gun live from the Fillmore East doesn't prove Hendrix as the greatest, most influential guitarist of all time, nothing will. So far ahead of his time, magic flowing from his fingers, incredible artist at work. Millions of guitarists still want to emulate him, and just cannot.
This performance is a true and one of a. Kind expression that from the 1rst time I heard it when I was 11 or 12 to this day hits me just as hard if not harder than any other song performance. Jimi Hendrix was put on this earth to show us how its really done PERIOD
FACT!
That’s why Eddie never gave him proper props.
Haven't heard this for a few years, I'm crying. Jimi reaches the parts of you others just can't (heart, mind, whatever). This is Jimi's Mona Lisa.
Ditto
I agree, in spades. still brings tears to my eyes as it did when it first came out.
Little Richard said Jimi made his toe shoot up into his boot
I agree its his best performance. I wasn’t a big fan of the band of gypsies but this is his magnum opus
Robin Trower mentioned Machine Gun as one of the most influential songs of his life. Another that he mentioned was James Brown - Think!
One of the most soulful anti - war songs ever made you can really hear the sounds of war here. Band Of Gypsies is one of the greatest live albums ever made. ✌
This has a Double meaning it was anti war (Government) and also Pro-war Jimmi was a Big Black Panther supporter, despite what you might have read
@@ssm1052 definetly not pro-war...
@@sprinterproductionshd3061 it depends who's listening. songs mean different things, to different people.....war was being waged on his people...just because Jimmi never PUBLICLY expressed his anger, of the treatment of his people.. doesn't mean...the pain, and anger wasn't there. Example ...."stand right next to a mountain. CHOP IT DOWN WITH WITH THE EDGE OF MY HAND" In the streets a chopper Is a machine gun, and it's used at the edge of the hand...."then I pick of all the pieces, a make a little island (Haitian revelution) might even raise a little sand" mean trouble aka revolution.. Devon Wilson, Faye pridgon, Betty Mabry aka Betty davis, all had ties to the panthers, at one time or another...
@@ssm1052 he sure has anger in his music like all the other emotions too but jimi would never advocate for any type of violence. He would not stand for war. He only fights with his fender axe.
@@sprinterproductionshd3061 you seem to be going on conjecture...dig deeper, and find out his relationship to the black panthers, at a concert he dedicated a song to them...which was voodoo chile...often songs written by black artist have double meanings, like the negro slave spirituals of the...he was the producer of the last poets album, and many of them was black power movement affliated...on the outside to many he looked oneway, but his heart was with his people...you are right it was in his music...ie the star spanled banner, with its violent distortion
The man made his guitar sound like a carpet bomb, a machine gun, explosions. The drums are like rifles shooting.......this is why jimi hendrix lives on forever
As a lifelong guitarist, all I have to say about the history of the guitar is that it can be broken down into two periods; BH and AH, before Hendrix and after Hendrix. This cat changed EVERYTHING.
Eddie didn't do ANYTHING that Jimi hadn't already done. 🤣🤣
@@nigelsanford7136 EVH’s sound and style was the biggest paradigm shift since Hendrix. He sounded nothing like anyone before him and the proof is in the pudding. Look at guitar playing in the 80s and look at guitar playing before EVH. Look at the change in the level of virtuosity. He completely raised the bar, and it’s not even debatable. Sit down.
@@KickflipGnasty there's no difference in virtuosity from 80's vs the 60's/70's... 80s just has a bunch of loud douche bags in leather.....EVH is nowhere near the skill of Jimi Hendrix.....
@@nigelsanford7136 The guitar approach was much different. You’ve just given yourself away. You clearly just don’t like EVH, because he did things that Hendrix NEVER had the chops for. Silly discussion.
@@KickflipGnasty nah, you're just a racist, mad that the greatest guitar player of all time is black. Heavy metal was the death of real guitar playing. The 80s is a fuckin joke, the most emberassing era of guitar playing.
A genius, a virtuoso, and a messenger. He carried a message of freedom and love.
His guitar work really puts you on a battlefield in Vietnam, with rocket and gunfire from all around. Uncomfortably beautiful.
Even more astonishing at 13:00, is when you can hear Hendrix starting to emulate the sound of a "Dan Bau", a traditional Vietnamese instrument...
I read a story once about the live performance from which this song was taken...Hendrix was to play two shows to be recorded for a live album. In the first show, he performed as he always did, playing the guitar behind his back and with his teeth, banging the guitar against his amplifiers, windmills, back bends, all the legendary stage moves he was known for. Afterwards, he asked Bill Graham, who was the concert promoter, how he had done. Graham replied tersely: "It was fine." Jimi was taken aback by the lackluster response and asked Bill what was wrong. Graham reminded Hendrix he was being recorded, and said he felt all the stage antics were hurting the overall sound. When Hendrix returned for the second show, he stood stock still in one spot, and delivered an incredible performance, sonically. He left the stage near the end, and found an elated Bill Graham, and asked him: "How was that, motherfucker!" Then he returned for an encore, which was fifteen minutes of non-stop bump and grinds and twirls and leaps and movement and every trick he could think of.
I heard the same story. Fantastic!!!!
An apocryphal story. All four shows (not 2) were recorded, filmed, and lots of photos taken there's no pictures or film of him doing any of that.
The more likely reason is the band was under rehearsed, a handful of rehearsals over a 2 week period, and hendrix wrote a new songs that were more or less in an embryonic state as well.
@@rebeccabailey527 O.K. But my story is a lot more fun than your's...Heh...
@@rebeccabailey527 Most of the 4 shows can now be found on a 5 CD box set called Songs for Groovy Children (Also in 8 vinyl, I think), It is brilliant, listen to it often, there are 3 versions of Machine Gun, all slightly different, but great.
Wow, I never heard that story. Never saw him live, I was 9 when he died but it still seemed like he was around cause they kept putting out new Hendrix albums after he died & I always snapped them up. It wasn't necessarily "new" stuff but it was new to me...
This is beyond great guitar playing this is mystical, this is something flowing through his soul from his fingertips to the strings through the pickups and out the amps
Yeah, I always loved all of Jimi’s music, but the guitar in this performance reaches me in a way I can’t explain. It haunts my soul.
I am not advocating it but back then we would get as high as possible without getting stuck there, while listening to Jimi for hours and hours album after album. All hail the greatest guitar player of all time, who's cool factor was off the charts.
I'll advocate
Jimi had an ability to create and control feedback through his Marshall amps that is still unparalleled, no one can touch him
Prince mastered the technique but there will never be another Hendrix.
NO ONE!
Exactly right, nobody could and still can't play an incredible solo with that much feedback.
Mike Bloomfield admitted he had no idea how Hendrix was doing what he was doing. He guessed that extreme volume had something to do with it. After seeing Hendrix he was devastated and didn't pick up a guitar for about a year. '''He knew who I was and burned me to death.''
@@mike196212 This was a totally different sound from almost anything else that I've heard from him and yeah I think alot of it had to do with the volume and the controlled feedback, but I always thought their was a very human element involved, maybe because he was playing with his homies, Buddy and Billy I don't know.
"I got goosebumps all over my body!" That's what happens when you listen to genius.
Still have my ticket stub from his concert. Check out his early stuff too,,,, "Are You Experienced", "Third Stone From the Sun", "Castles Made of Sand" much more....
Third Stone From The Sun...totally self indulgent but an epic mix of beat poetry and acid Jazz. Just love the effects he applies to the whole track. I love the lesser known but brilliant Love Or Confusion, which should be given the same credit as Purple Haze and Voodoo Child in my opinion.
Wow, fantastic memories! That's great to hear.
He did most of his Ground Breaking Work under the Guidance of Chas Chandler, but Mike Jeffrey, did kind of a botch job on the Group, And got Hendrix Killed, Right when I thank Hendrix was getting ready to take Rock Guitar 🎸, playing to a New Level.
He did most of his Ground Breaking Work under the Guidance of Chas Chandler, but Mike Jeffrey, Mass it all up for Hendrix and Band...
Please tell us it's in a frame! Aaaaannndddd you fall down on your knees screaming "We're not worthy" every time you pass it!!!
The greatest musical performance I've ever heard, by the single most important musician in rock history. Listening to Hendrix is like listening to Parker or Coltrane. It's on a whole other level. Pure genius. That solo is unmatched by anyone else I've ever heard. Over 50 years since his death, no musician has got anywhere near him. Plenty have copied him, but nobody can touch him. Imagine being in the audience and witnessing that!
Wow! Good point. It is like listening to Coltrane or Parker. Well done!
Agreed. With colors and textures through electricity. The Electric Church.
It truly was an astounding performance.... Never to be replicated.....
Dave, Thank you, You Listened and it takes Genius to Recognize Genius. John Mclaughlin, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Carlos Santana, George Benson, Les Paul and Many other Jazz Greatests hear Charlie Parker & John Coltrane in Jimi Hendrix. Thank you Dave.
@@heentlasaa9974 You are most welcome Heen.
SRV is a great guitarist, but sometimes I feel like he's trying to follow the blueprint Jimi laid down. Jimi didn't have a blueprint, everything he played was a pure expression of his feelings and emotions. The way he was able to channel through the guitar will never be experienced again. He IS the GOAT!
SRV's playing isn't really much like Jimi's, but he was obviously a huge fan. SRV was much more a Texas Shuffle / Boogie player whereas Jimi's roots were more R&B. Both are amazing, but Jimi will always be the best.
SRV plays technically corect... Jimmy plays with his soul. Both are amazing. I personally prefer the soul of Jimmy.
its not sometimes... SRV is a Great guitarist... but he was trying to copy the GREATEST which isnt bad u wanna be like the greatest but u cant be the greatest... JIMI is the blue print of Electric guitar.. the problem with today is that we all have the internet and we can listen to anything... jimi made his own sound in just 4 years and made the guitar an instrument and not just another sound in the band... jimi was a brilliant different mind.. theres 2 different types of guitarist... "those who said they were influenced by jimi and then liars....
You’re only saying that because he covers Hendrix’s songs. His own songs with his own playing sound nothing like him. Texas Flood, Pride and Joy, and Tin Pan Alley…
None of that is in the same vein as Hendrix.
@@billrehberg9271 SRV plays with plenty of heart and soul. This conversation is cringe as fuck. You guys are trying to quantify subjective things based off your own uneducated opinions. This discussion was DOA.lol
Greatest live guitar performance of all time. Period.
Lernny Kravitz had a great quote about his first time hearing machine gun..he said " I had to take a nap after i listened to it"
Jimi is a conduit through which the music flowed. Many tap into it but few are brave enough to give themselves fully. He was the instrument. One of a kind and forever my favorite.
Many worthy contenders for the throne, but there is only ONE TRUE KING.

This was Jimi's Band Of Gyosys group. It's Jimi with Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums. An all black group that combined funk with rock and basically created the funk/rock genre. Another great song from that album is POWER TO LOVE (Also called Power Of Soul).
Facts, and Power to Love aka Power of Soul is a great track!

Goosebumps on her arms, as it should be. I've been listening to this for like 50 years and it STILL gives me goosebumps!!!! It's also one more of the Fillmore East's all time greatest performances, akin to the Allman Brothers Band, Humble Pie and others. Buddy Miles is one of the all time best power drummers. A true classic rock performance for the ages. RIP Jimi.

the isle of wright version is very close, maybe my favorit. He's so tired so...and then he plays like never before. But that is a phrase you can't use with jimi, because when he opens up, it's all new again. It's haunting in a different way, like he knows his time is almost up
He wore the headband because he used to put LSD in it and it would melt into his head
what is this version called? is it filmore east?
@@linuxgameplayxp6246 Yes. Recorded New Years of 1970
This song has been used in so many tv movies, movies in Theatre, and on and on. Hendrix' sound is unmistakable. You just know that is Jimi playing from the moment you hear that guitar. Guys like him come around once in a lifetime. Unfortunately, Jimi died at age 27. He was just getting started with his career. Think of all the great music he would have created. At least he left us with some of his genius to enjoy.
Thanks guys
Jimis magnum opus. He has a lot of beautiful structured pieces (little wing, castles made of sand, one rainy wish), and then there is his longer and more story-telling songs, like this work if art.
I'd also include 1983, but this take the cake with absolute guitar mastery and IT WAS ALL DONE LIVE!! 🤩
I'm a 63 year old white guy, but I had this album in the 70s, and nobody past or present comes close to Jimi as a guitarist. Keep in mind that they didn't have all the electronic add-ons to augment the guitar sounds when Jimi was doing it. HE was the reason they invented the wa-wa pedal and the talk box for guitar, so other guitarists could try to sound like him.
I got goosebumps watching you get goosebumps. When Jimi was on it there was nobody to touch him just by the sheer emotion he wrings out of his audience, himself and his guitar. He spilled his guts all over this performance. Thats the brutal horror of the Vietnam war conveyed through a guitar! God bless you Jimi
Complete mastery of the guitar 🎸,it becomes more than music, opens the door to spiritually, through music, jimi was a comet, who showed us mortels that vibration is a medicine that we all can reach, with a little belief of our power of soul, thanx jimi,he was needed by the creator, god wanted to see jimi play, you can still hear him if you stop and listen
This is the true definition of Jimi Hendrix at the height of his considerable prowess. Artistic expression, virtuosity, power, feedback, and blues, coiling and re-coiling like snake full of venom on the hunt. As he strangles, stretches, soothes, and releases an electronic volley of furious sound to define all the senses. He is the splatter painting of Jackson Pollock. Stradivarious with guitar. Picasso working in Cubism. And his voice just enough to deliver the message.
Next up, THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER.
Rock on, brother. Rock on.
Jimi 100% tapped into another dimension in this performance.
Legendary performance by Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles= Band Of Gypsys. ✌
It does my heart good knowing that music like this is being rediscovered by you and your listeners. Hendrix is one of those masters of music who should never be forgotten . Mozart , Beethoven , Marvin Gaye jut to name a few who should always be remembered.
Today is my birthday, and this is my favorite (and only) gift. Thank you so much!
Oh damn my favorite live album ever.
This has been my favorite album of Jimi Hendrix for so so many years favorite jam!
The single greatest, most influential guitarist who ever strapped on an axe. Left handed and right handed, strings strung upside down. There will never be another James Marshall Hendrix...
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just came across this and I have to give much cred for reacting to this. Jimi Hendrix was introduced to me by my older brother (RIP). This was the first song I heard as a 11 year old boy. I've been hooked ever since. He is the Picasso of electric guitar. He was light years ahead of his time. He brought blues to the highest reaches that could be had. I'm 53 now and still wish that he was alive. Who knows what he would've done? There is no one like him and there will never be
My favorite guitarist of all time. What he does in this song alone is freakin phenomenal. Truly amazing guitar work.
Greatest electric guitarist to ever live, hands down.
My Brother in Law was at this concert. He was 17 years old at the time.
One of many fantastic performances by one of the greatest blues/rock performers of all time. Timeless. I have been listening to Jimmy for almost 60 years and love his music as much today as when I first heard him!
Band of Gypsies live - Billy Cox/Bass, Buddy Miles/Drums & Jimi on the Fender Stratocaster Guitar. Rob Grant is Correct, I totally agree with him. This tune blew Miles Davis away after John Mclaughlin introduced him to Jimmies music, he was'nt limited to just Rock & Blues, Jimi jammed with both John & Miles and many other Jazz Greats. An extraordinary & unequaled sound painting. Awesome! Billy Cox stated that Jimi, Miles and him were paying Homage to Charley Patton & Son House when they played this tune. Jimi makes his Guitar Talk. Thank You guys.Very Much. Love Ya
You couldn't stop it. It makes everyone's hair stand up. One of the the best Hendrix solos of all time. The top one of one.
I agree greatest performance in rock history. Been listening for many many years the goosebumps never go away. MACHINE GUN!
Beautifully controlled chaos at the end. Jimi Hendrix and The Band of Gypsies.
An encyclopedia of guitar playing. This is an unreal performance.
Buddy Miles had one of the greatest snare drum sounds ever as well.
So proud to be from Seattle, there’s a major reason this man is labeled as the GOAT
This song is over 50 years old & it's still delivering goosebumps to a whole new generation. Jimi didn't play guitar, he painted sounds, you don't hear his music, you feel it. True art never dies...
Howdy from Texas!
THIS is the song that launched a million guitar careers! Stevie Ray Vaughan and others. Widely considered to be the most magnificent electric guitar ever played. I remember hearing this when it first came out and it definitely had a huge effect on me because I was a veteran during the Vietnam War.
Damn .. took me back to that fascination we all felt when Jimmy was rolling out his masterpieces..
It's JIMI
I know! I lived it! That's how it came out I didn't proof it. Didn't mean to take you out of your way!
I think Jack Bruce of Cream said it best..."Jimi was a force of nature."
When they said he has eric Clapton in the corner shacking while smoking a cigarette was enough to me. One guy said jimi was the only person to beat god😂😂😂😂😂
That’s why he is the Greatest of all Time and Space there was no one like him before there will be no one like ihm after! He Brought music and the electric guitar to an other dimension!
Listening to Jimi is like running a marathon. At first its exhilarating, but then it becomes a little overwhelming. However, if you stick with it you eventually get that blissful runner's high. You have to commit to listening to Jimi to really appreciate it.
I adore Jimi. They asked him once on TV "How does it feel to be the best guitarist in the world?" He answered " don't know, ask Rory Gallagher. I'm the best guitarist in this chair". He was not driven by ego, that's the best part of him. And the music he left behind.
I've been a Hendrix fan since I was 11 years old, and I'm now 68; I only came here primarily to see your guys' reactions, and I wasn't disappointed; THANK YOU GUYS!
I got this album when it came out ,,this song at that moment in time Jimmi playing ,,it's the power of the soul,, the power of the universe is happening at that moment in time ,, it takes it out of Me today to listen this even today,,it's pure energy of the soul,,you see at time there was not only a war in Vietnam but in every major city in this country ,,a lot going on,, and jimi got it all out for us ,,what we were holding inside ,with his guitar ,,RIP brother ,,,,
Thank you for reacting to the greatist guitar solo ever. This is Jimi at the hieght of his powers bending time and space and showing us a deeper world. Godbess you. It's a joy to see young people finding great music. Jimi changed the sound of guitar and all of us have bennifited. Greatist guitar player ever and second place isn't even close.
The Vietnam War was the social backdrop for 60s and 70s music, Jimis' inventiveness shows that there are no guitarists of his caliber today. Great reaction!
Love how he starts the solo with that incredible screaming sustained high note. Any other guitarist would have slowly build to that note over the length of the whole solo. But for Jimi, that note was just blast off point.
Jimi loves that note. I’ve always thought of it as his ‘Cry of Love.’
@tessmage_tesseraman jimi was good enough to make a nun moist and drop acid 😂😂😂😂😂
@tessmage_tessera 😂😂😂😂😂it’s was very sad he wasn’t accepted by the black community. From my understanding blacks though of him is wanting to be white but what makes me love him so much is that he didn’t care and had the balls to live his life. Just like me
That was drummer Buddy Miles singing the chorus, while Jimi sang lead. I had several of his albums of his band, Buddy Miles Express! The sixties were wild times, and i'm surprised i even remember them!
The first few minutes is my all time favorite guitar work. Amazing. Jimi is still THE man. 🤘
Loved watching your reaction after you heard the single most powerful note ever played on an electric guitar at 4:29 . Heard it 1000s of times, and I still get goosebumps, too.
All things considered, I think this version of Machine Gun is probably the best song ever. Not only Jimi's awesome guitar, but the oriental bass line of Billy Cox and of course, the machine gun on the drums by Buddy Miles. 3 guys on a stage, just amazing
He was also speaking of the wars that was going on in the cities in America not just was overseas
I believe they left this earth and entered another dimension in this song.
Thanks for uploading this im a 70s baby born in 1972 and I remember my dad playing his music so I grew up listening to all the greats unfortunately he passed away in 2015 but you guys brought back so many memories great job.
That's why they still call Jimi the "Greatest Of All Time"! As awesome as this track is my favorite from this live performance is "Power To Love". Jimi was having a great night. Still can't believe we lost him so prematurely, over 50 years ago under suspicious circumstances.
yeah massive loss. i weep for what Jimi would have written, recorded, played if he had made it past that night. What we would have had the amazement of listening to. fly on Jimi
If you don't get goosbumbs, if your hair doesen't stand straight up...if your hair roots doesen't itch when that controlled feedback kicks in at the beginning of this solo...then you're most likely dead. This is a milestone performance. Been loving it for F'n years
David Gilmore was wearing one of Jimi Hendrix's guitar straps when Pink Floyd did the Pulse Concert shows alot of respect for this Man!
This amazing performance casts such a spell… it’s not just Jimi’s incredible guitar playing, it’s also some kind of magic! There will never be another guitarist like him… he truly was a gift to the world.
Hendrixian Blues... greatest guitar solo ever. IMHO the roots of metal in this performance.
It's called Nuclear Blues..
LOVE your facial reactions to every bend Jimi throws out in this masterpiece of a performance. I react the same way you as guys do every time I listen to it... Thanks for sharing 👏
Respect for listening to the whole track. Jazz great - Miles Davis, felt and loved Hendrix's performances of machine gun. Hendrix issued the ultimate challenge to any aspiring guitarist with this technically innovative and random expression of passionate spontaneity.
If you search RUclips on this song by Hendrix , you'll actually see him play the whole song on stage In Color. Now that will be an experience for the both of you 🎸 🎸 🎸
Jimis music extended from his soul, directly into yours!!
Asia>>she has such a beauty as great is her sensitivity hearin' the powerful Jimi's screaming guitar.
This is Elsim writing you from SouthernWest Europe.
Bravo, you are a wonderful woman. And, long live Hendrix !
Greatest live performance I've ever heard
Welcome aboard. Dude is and has been the truth since introduced to the world in 1966. Keep it going.
