  • Hi all! I hope you're all doing well. Since school is over and I have more (ish) free time, I figured it was time I film a video about my experience having a baby in law school. I was pregnant for my whole 2L year and just finished my 3L year with my sanity and grades still intact. It was hard, but definitely worth it.
Please feel free to leave any questions below, and I'll try my best to answer them.

I was pregnant through 1L and had a baby in 1L summer. Starting 2L with a 7-week old next week! Hope I survive!! It's good to hear you say it is doable! Haha

There’s also a massive difference between being a father and being a mother for most people, let’s be honest. Mothers are typically the “designated parent” even if they’re in law school. Dads in law school are not worrying about who is gonna watch their kid while they’re in class or how they’re going to stay up all night breastfeeding or bottle feeding every two hours and sleep enough to be focused in class. The “designated parent” is doing that for them

I’m still two years out from law school and will have a 6 year old when I start. I pushed it off until she’d be in school bc I was terrified of having a young infant or toddler while in law school but even with a 6 year, it’s still daunting. Seeing moms like you doing the damn thing is a huge inspiration that I can absolutely do it

Thank you so much for watching! And yes, despite the vast amount of videos on RUclips, there’s not too much on being pregnant and having children during higher education

Thank you so much for this video. I am currently doing my Masters in Housing and am currently 33 weeks along. I have been stressed on I will handle studying when baby comes but your advice on accepting all the help I can get and not try to act like a super mom, my family is willing to help so I will definitely be taking them up on that. Please do a video on being pregnant and studying. I am South African by the way😊

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You're in for such an exiting and wonderful time! And can do! I'm struggling to remember how I managed to get through school when I was pregnant, I had such bad pregnancy brain and struggled focusing but I managed to get through it so I'm sure I can dig deep for some tips. Good luck on the last weeks of pregnancy and labor, I hope it goes smoothly and that you get to enjoy time with your new little one

thank you so much for your vlog! 💖 4mos pregnant and 2L wews haha looking forward for more helpful videos! is there no negative impact to baby's development? while studying in law school, this will be my first baby 💖

Congratulations! And good luck! The first bit can be very difficult - I'm 4 months pregnant with my second now and I am almost starting to feel better. Do you mean any negative impact on the baby's development from being pregnant in law school? I wouldn't think so. People go through pregnancy in so many different ways and under much more difficult circumstances. Law school is stressful, but at least you're (hopefully) safe and getting the medical follow-up and help that you need. Good luck!

Did you not work during your 2L summer? Summer would be the best time to give birth, but my biggest concern is the timing of giving birth. It seems difficult timing-wise to have a 2L summer internship and still have enough time to spend with the baby and to recover after birth! Luckily, after 1L my school's classes are mostly at night which is perfect with my husband's work schedule to allow us to trade-off. The recovery period just seems like the hardest to plan out!

Being due two weeks after finals would be TERRIFYING. I’d be constantly terrified that I wouldn’t make it to 40 weeks. I had my first kid at 36 weeks and my second at 38 so if I’d been in that situation I would’ve given birth and had a couple newborn two weeks before finals started or the week of. That’s gotta be stressful just knowing there’s a possibility.
I wasn’t in school when I had my kids but I was working and even then I was constantly terrified I’d go into labor at work and my water would break all over their floor lmao
