Lumberland always struck me as something that'd be hard to pull off live, but they crush it as always. Love to learn more about the song's writing, too.
Yeah, in the way to the show, my friend and I were saying "It'd be great to see 'Lumberland' live, but that's never gonna happen." Cut to our jaws dropping. It was only the fifth time they'd ever played it live - stoked that they've added it to their repertoire this tour and that we got to see it happen!
I was so thrilled they did it, because my friend and I were talking about songs we'd love to see live but hadn't over the 18 shows we'd seen collectively, and we wrote DoL off as "Never Gonna Happen... But it would be awesome." And it was!
@@jrpipik they tried Darlings twice with the Horns before this year, but the three-part singing wasn't added until now! First Flansburgh tried it alone
@@L0REN0R2Z0RR0 All the voices really thicken the mixture, so to speak. Both Dans can sing very well, I'm surprised they don't take advantage of it more often. I've even heard versions of "Birdhouse" that Linnel sings alone, not even with Flans doing the descant.

Best DoL performance I've seen so far!

TMBG don't do enough three-part singing. Just terrific!
For real! I'm so glad this seems to have been added to their repertoire for this tour.
@@wyvernxk7 When they have them, they lean on the "we can only pull this off with horns" material like this.

@@jrpipik true, though I don't know if Danny's voice works for harmonies
I was at that show! Remember the AC broke and it was like a million degrees in there
