Just remember that canada is huge and has a ton of cultures in it than whats represented in this video! We have the Inuit up north, the french in Quebec and the east coast has tons of different dishes that are also considered very canadian. What she ate was a good start but nowhere near represents the country as a whole
As a Canadian I was surprised to see them that far west (Banff, Alberta). They started in a small town in eastern Ontario - Killaloe. The ‘Killaloe Sunrise’ was the original topping I believe, with fresh squeezed lemon, sugar and cinnamon. I thought it was just a Canada’s capital thing. So good.
They used to only be in Ottawa, they started branching out maybe 10 years ago so don't feel bad! They only had them on the canal and the Byward market for the longest time
next time you’re in canada, i recommend getting a poutine from harveys! personally it’s my fav place to get one and i love the buffalo chicken one but it’s a lil spicy

In Trinidad, we have Elephants ear which is the same thing as the beaver tail 😂 just sweet fried dough
