I wonder what Aztec and Mayan music would have actually sounded like.

Well now I'm down in CDMX at the National Anthropology Museum and I've got a bit of an answer to my own question! Various wind instruments, like flutes, whistles and ocarinas, horns made of conch shells, a huge variety of drums, and various shakers like maracas and things tied around ankles.
I believe there are actually South American folk music Touhou cover albums that get close enough to what mesoamerican music would have been like before guitars and trumpets.

@@krustygraze189 To be honest, although I had that question since I first found this upload shortly after it released, I didn't bother asking it until I got more interested in Mesoamerican culture, figuring I'd be able to answer it soon. Ive actually been working on getting this opportunity for nearly as long as that original comment went up... and seeing as I've now got an internship at the museum itself, I think it paid off. Took quite a while longer than I expected!

@@pohatunuva3771 that's awesome! I found this video and your comment a while ago, and I had really been hoping for replies to your question.
I'm now curious, can you link to a South American Touhou folk album? I've been trying to expand my reach recently but I feel like I'm looking in the wrong places

@@That--One--Guy--ä The stance also looks vaguely like Eliphas Levi's depiction of Baphomet, with an arm oriented upwards and another downwards, and sitting with the legs crossed/raised (in Levi's is both), which in itself could be inspired by ancient depictions of divinity in multiple cultures.

Check the fruits and grains: wheat, persimmons?, grapes. India isn’t exactly well known for those (even though currently wheat is heavily grown, it historically hasn’t been dominant.) Heavy jewelry isn’t restricted to india, or even veils of the sort, that kind of attire is present across an expansive domain covering what I believe would be the regions of the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, parts of the Caucasus, and India. though it wouldn’t surprise me if the artist ended up melding a little Indian influence with the culture of Sumeria or some other bronze age culture. I remember this old doujin ethnic art collection, this may be from that actually.
Also, while it may derive mesoamerican influence, wheat was only introduced by the Spanish, and as another commenter pointed out, the comparisons to baphomet further encourage the idea that this is based on a middle eastern bronze age culture.
Tl;dr: check the crops, this is sumerian

Everything on this channel was private for a while. There was a stretch of time a while back now where the distributors of certain circles (the ones that sell the albums on certain sites / in doujin shops, rather than the actual circles. At least, that was what people thought last I heard anything.) were copyright striking videos. Nobody really knew how that was going to go, and so to protect this channel Nitori made everything private for the time being.
Honestly I don't really know how the whole thing went, but things have certainly calmed down since then and that's what really matters.
