Hoist that rag yeah baby yeah!! I just love Mr Waits singing and Mr Ribot's guitar here. Theyre even better live. Just ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. DELECTABLE. SUPERB!!! BRAVO!!! 💋💋💋
This was such an inspirational song to me when I first heard it. I was going through tough times, and Hoist That Rag was my go to as well as so many other Waits' music
I just love him. I love the guitar here. It has a BRILLIANT Spanishy feel to it. And I just fall with it everytime I listen to it. Marc Ribot is amazing. Bravo. Go on you good thing!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💋💋💋💋
@@marilynmonroe2675 in 2012 a friend of mine had to pick Ribot and his Cubanos Postizos band up from the airport at Barcelona to bring him to the gig, he got nervous driving through the narrow streets of the neighbourhood of Gràcia and, when reversing, smashed one of the windows with the band still in the van. he said they were nice about it.
considering what, was he ill here or something? this is one of my absolute favorite songs, and i think this performance is amazing. i was in amsterdam in 2004 but i was focused on drum and bass. what a fool ive been.
One of the greatest performance i have ever seen in my hole album producing and live staging life. This is real. This is not your typical generation z "press the button" djs, this is real men with real heart and courage to show their soul after drinking a few whiskeys..
i love this song, what an amazing performance. just needed the horns and a choir on the chorus haha other than that, its such a beautiful take on the arrangement

@@patriciofernandez2711 You see: music, actually the art as a whole, can be interpreted in many different ways. We can assume that Tom Waits, when creating "Hoist That Rag", had on mind specific message, but at the end it doesn't really matter that much. What truly matters, is how YOU - the receiver - will understand it. So for some this song is about war, for others (like me for example), meaning is much simpler. It's just about overcoming bad circumstances, in other words: about "hoisting that rag". I think this is how for some this song can be inspirational. I mean, come on, don't you hear it? It's an ugly, awful and gritty song, yet somehow hopeful and encouraging.
This song is, without any hyperbole, *Metal as fuck*
Sounds like a poltergeist chain-gang at the bottom of the deepest mines of Hell. I love it!
What a picturesque description, I can totally see it.
Tom waits and marc Ribbot perfect combo
HOIST THAT RAG! What a treat to see a live version! Thanks

What a genius!
Es una combinación de sonidos que hacen de ello una canción espectacular; entre música latina y un rock bizarro pero muy bueno!
Wow this sing, the voice damn
Never had the chance to see him!
tom my friend you are best

I heard about this song from the movie "A Most Wanted Man" with Philip Seymour Hoffman......R.I.P. Philip
I just watched that very movie, which lead me here.....wow 👌
great performance, good quality also, all things considering

this comment made me cringe so hard my skin rotated

This actually sounds more like the original recording of this song. Tom remastered it in 17 and the arrangement was completely different, lol.
@@alexanderkelley2556 The original version sounded dirtier and grittier and didn't have the brass section.
Would be so cool, heck yeah
You know what to do when the baby cries. Hoist that rag.
His sons on percussion, Mark Ribot, (Primus) bass player.
Les Claypool?
That's not Les (from Primus).
Not here, though Claypool is on the album version.
Christ Almighty!!!!!!
There's a child here playing percussion.
focalized thats Mr Wait's son-Casey darlin 💋💋💋
Yup his son
Perfect play: three questions: 1. Is this Tom's son on the drums? 2. What is the name of the guitarist? 3. Tom waits for what?
1. Yes, that's Tom's son Casey on the congas.
2. Guitarist is Marc Ribot.
3. No one.
1. Brain Mantia on the drums with Tom's son
Marc Ribot takes half the stage for a reason
Genius!
Can anyone tell me the name of the camera operator for this video?
Porque q a voz do alvin nao é a dele né denis ???
Dude! Zoom in on the guitarist wtf!
Качество звука - полный отврат.
Top shel, Tom!
im just imagining a pirate, working all day and night and in battles just doing pirate things... on and on and on lol

Not trying to be rude, but how is it inspirational? It's an anti-war song, the only way I think it could be inspirational is if you were George Bush.
@@patriciofernandez2711 you are rude
