India and Russia will soon sign a formal agreement for the manufacture of as many as 7.5 lakh AK-203 rifles at the state-run Ordnance factory Project Korwa, in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district.
According to the plan, the rifles will be manufactured under the Make In India initiative. The demand for the guns will rise once the central police forces begin using them in place of the INSAS weapons.
While initially India and Russia were in talks for the manufacture of the AK-103, they eventually chose the AK-203 - a 7.62x39mm caliber rifle.
The AK-203 is a derivative of the popular AK-47, used by military and groups across the world ever since its launch in 1949.

@Eden Hazard no dude it is provided only to some special forces not every soldier. Each and every soldier should be equipped with best equipments like waist and pads and helmet and even insas is outdated now. Facing terrorists with insas is almost suicide. It doesn't kill terrorists with one shot. My dad and brother and cousins are in army and soon I will join too. I have never seen them with any modern equipment and they don't even get too I asked them
Yes bro you are right. But it's impossible to provide them all assault rifles in short time. So first of all they should focus on providing these guns to bsf and army. Because they need the most. They use modern assault rifle they found from terrorists. It's really shameful. They are our pride. It our governments responsibility to provide them the best equipment. They couldn't face Chinese soldiers with that insas rifle.
@Eden Hazard yes bro you are right. It is not possible to provide them assault rifles to all of them. So they should provide it to bsf and army first cause they need the most. And give those insas rifles to police forces till then. And replace them slowly when they can. Our soldiers cannot face Chinese troops with insas rifles. And this is the truth because you don't know when it will stop working. And most of assault rifles used by our soldiers they found those guns from terrorists. And that's the bitter truth. I really feel shameful that our soldiers are using rifles of terrorists. Our government can't even provide them assault rifles. No use of buying missiles,jet planes,and tanks if our soldiers don't even have rifles

As an operational cop I can suggest@ Ak_47 andAk _ 57 is best then AK_203 as material used is rubber and is not durable and walnut wood is best. Ak_203 Indian made stops a lot during operation but Russia one is best and works as hot knife 🔪 in a butter. Indian made Ak_203 is less durable in metrical used and finishing. Everyone in Army prefers Russia Ak_57or47 rather then Indian Ak_47/57/203
Yes, because of metallurgy.
They have serious knowledge over metal used to make a firearm, which we leg., So our ordanance factories can adopt newer technologies but its less experienced metallurgy experts not able to differentiate presious metal and low quality metal.

Different rifles work for differemt purposes. I think SIG SAUSER, will be a sniper cum assault rifle, while the AK 203 will be the standard issue for the indian army

Rishabh Sharma Bro sig sauer 716 is a DMR(Designated marksman rifle) good for medium range to long range combat. Whereas AK series are purposefully made for close quarters.
Wrong reply. Sig 716 has 55 mm round so range little far and more accurate. Both are in assault role. Sig is for counter insurgency troops. India recently ordered sniper rifles
SIG Saure 712 is for front line infantry troops and AK 203 will be standard weapon for all soldiers of Indian army. SIG Saure 712 is more powerful than AK 203.
