Hi Bryan newbie here, with the management fee, is it only deducted whenever you purchase shares? Or do they deduct it every year per $1000 invested regardless of whether you buy more shares or not?? How exactly does it work?peace...I mean peach😊
Hey mate! The management fees are accrued daily so there's no specific time of the year where it gets deducted. Each day, a portion is deducted directly from the ETF itself. So there will be no out of pocket charge to you. Here's an article that explains it more: www.betashares.com.au/education/how-do-etf-fees-work/
@@stumed526 A200 has 0.04% MER fee as compared to 0.07% VAS and BGBL has 0.08% as compared to 0.18% of VGS. Betashares is also Australian and i would prefer to support Australian business any day over any other country!

Hey mate thanks for helping us, I liked and subscribed once I am looking exactly to learn how to invest. I have one doubt, like if I invest in those two funds VGS, VAS as you mentioned, and go through the broker you have also mentioned… Why in the broker site like as soon as we clicked on the link to created an account it looks like it’s a single share!?? Like charging per share!??? I thought if I chose those two funds it would be all the single shares in there, isn’t that right? I mean I thought if I do only two transactions they would charged me per 2 transactions and not how many shares are in there!!!? I thought we just choose those 2 funds and go from there, right, but why is charging per share?? Imagine I want to invest in one hit $10k in one fund like VGS and $3k in VAS, so the broker would likely to charge me for two transaction?? Or for each stocks including in each fund???
Hey mate, the broker doesn’t charge per share. It’s per transaction/total value. So for this broker in particular, if you want to buy $10,000 worth of VAS it will charge you $3. If you want any less, it will be still be $3. If you want VAS + VGS then it will charge you $3 per trade per ETF. Hope this makes sense.
Why do you think VGS and VAS combo is better than say VDHG and or VESG which seem to organically do a similar thing to the combined portfolios with higher historical growth? Thanks 😊
VAS + VGS is comparable to VDHG. I must order the former since it’s 100% shares and I can control the ratio. VESG is 73% so it would overlap a lot with VDHG and you can’t really compare it to VAS + VGS since there is no Aussie exposure.

Yes, you can use Vanguard Personal Investor. However, I prefer using other brokers since this one is not chess sponsored and IMO it's very biased to towards Vanguard products. I like flexibility.
@@BryanInvest ok so moomo or pearler? But is there a fee to add monthly payments? So if we invest 5 k in vas and vgs and then 1 k monthly do we get charged a fee plus management fee
@@d.j.z.j Either is fine. Just go with the one you like. The management fee is not charged out of pocket. It's automatically taken from the value/share price of the ETF itself. You'll be charged a brokerage fee everything you invest into a parcel of VAS or VGS.
I currently use Stake, is there a disadvantage if I move over to Moomoo and start buying ETF's from there and have ETF's in both Stake and Moomoo or just continue to use Stake?

Hey mate, if you already have Stake then it's fine. You can keep using them. They are also a good broker. However, if you feel a bit of FOMO with Moomoo (and their bonuses 😉), you could always sign up and see if you like it better than Stake. And if you do, you could transfer your shares from Stake to Moomoo (it's quite simple): www.moomoo.com/au/support/topic6_488 There's no disadvantage having multiple brokers other than you having to track multiple accounts. I have several ETFs in multiple different brokers myself and don't have any issues.

Interesting question. However, a bit hard to calculate accurately because the top 10-15 companies are constantly changing. The ETF is market cap weighted. So say company 30 does well, they could get into the top 10 and that in turns makes the entire ETF grow in value. So I think it's a tough question. However, I do notice in Australia, many of the big companies usually remain the top companies over the long term.

Depends on your aim. I do a bit of both. If you're planning to retire at the 'normal' retirement age then putting it into Super is very tax efficient since you'll only be charged 15% for up to $30K per year. Check out my video on salary sacrifice: ruclips.net/video/9dKnnk5jpVQ/видео.html
Peach. Hi Bryan I just started investing. However, I got a letter asking my TFN from Vanguard or they will be deducting the tax at “maximum “. rate at the moment 😮 Is it okay to provide it? Or do I really have any other options? This means I have to give my TFN to every stock company to invest. That doesn’t sound confidential at all 🧐
Hi, yes it’s standard practice to provide it. Otherwise, by law they may have to withhold the maximum amount. It’s like providing your TFN to a bank every time you open a new savings account.
VAS contains most if not all of the companies VHY has + some growth companies that could be bit more risky. VHY is focused on high dividend paying companies so the ETF itself naturally pays a higher dividend but less ‘growth’ potential.

Hey Bryan, I bought 127 units of VGS when it was at peak. It declined 5% the next week. Now it’s slowly increasing, will it affect me in future? Or is it best to buy when its price is falling?
Short-term price drops are normal. If ETF fits your long-term goals, buying more when prices fall can lower your average cost like set buy orders at specific price levels. This allows you to purchase when the price hits your target, ideally near the mean. Consider diversifying with other investments to manage the risk
An ETF is something you want to hold onto for about 10+ years. It's a long term strategy. The advice is to not be swayed by the movement of the stock market and continue to invest routinely.
Hey mate, the two people above me are correct. Don't look at short term prices. You'll drive yourself crazy doing that (coming from a guy who checked several times a day when he first started). The whole purpose of dollar cost averaging and investing long term is to not time the market but to get the average of the market. Having said that, I do buy a bit more on days when they are on discount. Again, it's a long term strategy. Stick to the plan.

I mentioned a few in the video but you could consider some emerging market ETFs. Some investors may look at specific trend or industry like Semi-conductors, AI, or Cyber security. The companies in these industries may be risky on their own so they may look at an ETF that tracks these types of specific companies.

I had both from 2021 to 3 months ago. They did VERY little. Not much more than you’d get in a fixed term savings account. Made about 6% each year. If I had put it into Microsoft, Apple, Meta, Google I would have made ~100% in 3 years.
Haha if it were that easy to predict the winners, everyone would be rich. VGS is up massively. Don't forget, even if their share prices don't go up, they still pay a dividend so you are still getting a return. Also, you shouldn't look at an ETF's 3 years performance and dismiss it. That's not how it works. On this channel, we look at the long term.
Hey Bryan, why VAS at all? when there are much better performing etf's in the world. Is it because you live here? The little Australian market is mostly overpriced banks and a few miners.
Basically yes, because I live here and I understand the companies I’m investing in. Plus Aussie companies are notorious for paying consistent high dividends.
Yes! This is very similar to VAS + VGS. The only thing missing is a bit of exposure to other markets like Europe, Asia etc. However, this is not a necessity.
@@BryanInvest I've never really understood why people invest in emerging markets.. they don't have the returns of here or USA... I guess I might be missing out on something
My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.
Thats when you hire someone to manage your money. You need a (CFP) straight up! personally, I would invest in ETF's and also love investing in individual stocks.
I took charge of my portfolio but faced losses in 2022. Realizing the need for a change, I sought advice from a fiduciary advisor. Through restructuring and diversification with dividend stocks, ETFs, Mutual funds, and REITs, my $1.2M portfolio surged, yielding an annualized gain of 28%.
Certainly, there are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Aileen Gertrude Tippy” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.

Bryan, you're a peach. Always love watching the informative content in your videos. I'm getting to the point where I'll be setting up a retirement income stream to supplement our two defined benefit pensions we have coming in (July next year). I was thinking a 70/30 split of VGS/VAG would be a good option from what I've seen on a few of the channels on RUclips. Mostly because of the diversified hedging and the fact that the U.S. market does out perform our local market quite considerably. Thanks for the info and see you next time.

Vanguard offers both ETFs and Managed Fund options for both VAS and VGS. Why do you suggest ETF over the Managed Fund options?
Better flexibility. You’re not tied to Vanguard. I want all my stocks to be in the same place so prefer to invest with a chess sponsored broker. That way I have the option to transfer my stocks in the future if I change brokers.
I watched one off your older videos and you stated moomoo wasn’t chess sponsored, when I signed up and online they say they are chess sponsored , can you confirm please , that would be great

Hi Bryan newbie here, with the management fee, is it only deducted whenever you purchase shares? Or do they deduct it every year per $1000 invested regardless of whether you buy more shares or not?? How exactly does it work?peace...I mean peach😊
@@fnqwaz5816 It is deducted annually.
I would love to know this as well
Hey mate! The management fees are accrued daily so there's no specific time of the year where it gets deducted. Each day, a portion is deducted directly from the ETF itself. So there will be no out of pocket charge to you. Here's an article that explains it more: www.betashares.com.au/education/how-do-etf-fees-work/
Hi mate I find your videos really helpful. I am planning IOZ200 and VGS as my portfolio what is your thoughts. Thanks.

I can’t tell you where to invest but from your criteria, the only ethical vanguard ETFs are VESG (international) and VETH (Australia).
BGBL+A200 for me!
Good combo! 💪
Why do you prefer BGBL+A200 over vgs and vas which he mentioned. I am trying to learn and like to get different perspectives
@@stumed526 A200 has 0.04% MER fee as compared to 0.07% VAS and BGBL has 0.08% as compared to 0.18% of VGS.

@@stumed526bgbl and a200 and very similar etfs to vas and vgs except they have much lower management fees
But vgs has 0.18% fees and vas has 0.07%. Wouldn't it be better to invest in ivv with 0.04% fees or vts with 0.03% fees
Or for the asx 200, stw with only 0.05% fees

Yes, they are all Aussie domiciled. Usually you can find it on their website, factsheet, or just google the ticker symbol + domicile.
Hey great video mate.
At 7.44, is it $3 per share or per trade?
Thanks mate. It's $3 per trade up to $10,000.
What about ishares s&p 500 etf (ivv) ?
Definitely an option. A lot of the companies overlap with VGS.
Hey mate thanks for helping us, I liked and subscribed once I am looking exactly to learn how to invest.
I have one doubt, like if I invest in those two funds VGS, VAS as you mentioned, and go through the broker you have also mentioned…
Why in the broker site like as soon as we clicked on the link to created an account it looks like it’s a single share!??
@@BryanInvest thanks 🙏 you are the man. God bless you
Why do you think VGS and VAS combo is better than say VDHG and or VESG which seem to organically do a similar thing to the combined portfolios with higher historical growth?
Thanks 😊
VAS + VGS is comparable to VDHG. I must order the former since it’s 100% shares and I can control the ratio. VESG is 73% so it would overlap a lot with VDHG and you can’t really compare it to VAS + VGS since there is no Aussie exposure.
Can we just use the vanguatd websitw for vas and vgs

@@BryanInvest ok so moomo or pearler? But is there a fee to add monthly payments? So if we invest 5 k in vas and vgs and then 1 k monthly do we get charged a fee plus management fee
@@d.j.z.j Either is fine. Just go with the one you like. The management fee is not charged out of pocket. It's automatically taken from the value/share price of the ETF itself. You'll be charged a brokerage fee everything you invest into a parcel of VAS or VGS.

Hey mate, if you already have Stake then it's fine. You can keep using them. They are also a good broker. However, if you feel a bit of FOMO with Moomoo (and their bonuses 😉), you could always sign up and see if you like it better than Stake.

Peach. Hi Bryan I just started investing. However, I got a letter asking my TFN from Vanguard or they will be deducting the tax at “maximum “. rate at the moment 😮
Is it okay to provide it? Or do I really have any other options?
This means I have to give my TFN to every stock company to invest. That doesn’t sound confidential at all 🧐
Hi, yes it’s standard practice to provide it. Otherwise, by law they may have to withhold the maximum amount. It’s like providing your TFN to a bank every time you open a new savings account.
@@BryanInvestthank you. That makes sense :)
Im planning to put in $400 each month on VAS and VGS this week. Should i do now or wait fkr thr market to go down ?
Very few people can successfully time the market. It’s an uphill battle.
Hi Bryan, what do you think of VHY ? I cant decide between VAS and VHY.
VAS contains most if not all of the companies VHY has + some growth companies that could be bit more risky. VHY is focused on high dividend paying companies so the ETF itself naturally pays a higher dividend but less ‘growth’ potential.
@@BryanInvest Thanks a lot for the reply Bryan.
What's the minimum number of shares needed to receive dividends? Say VAS is $100 per share and VGS is at $120 per share

@@blocinmotion 💯
Hey mate, the two people above me are correct. Don't look at short term prices. You'll drive yourself crazy doing that (coming from a guy who checked several times a day when he first started). The whole purpose of dollar cost averaging and investing long term is to not time the market but to get the average of the market. Having said that, I do buy a bit more on days when they are on discount. Again, it's a long term strategy. Stick to the plan.

VGS is up 147% over the last 10 years and 63% over the last 5. Not what I would call doing very little.
Personally I think MVW is better than VAS as it isn’t dominated by a handful of mining and financial institutions.
Fair enough! Mining and banks are what Aussies are famous for though.
Banking & mining companies are, have been and likely always will be Australia's strongest companies.
I tried to sign up using your link but I cant read japanese
Haha, it works fine for me. Are you connected to a Japanese VPN by any chance?
I started out with STW, IVV and NDQ... I think this is 'similar' to your 2 fund portfolio?
Your advisor must be really good, how I can get in touch with them as my porfolio isn't doing well.
Certainly, there are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Aileen Gertrude Tippy” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I needed this myself, I looked her up, and I have sent her an email. I hope she gets back to me soon.
