Wow. Tad overproduced. Cece is vastly undervalued. Wish someone could have recorded the raw keyboard sessions that led to this monstrosity.
I really like Eric Kupper's productions/remixes generally but I agree.
If you're going to cover classic disco/soul as 'Somebody Else's Guy' you need to do something different with it rather than just housing it up with higher tempo and a kick drum.
I agree that a more raw mix was needed. Would have loved to see what Kerri Chandler circa 1997 would have done with this. Probably would have had a Mix the Vibe (Kaoz on King Street) vibe.

The original Jocelyn Brown version is definitely better. This is a bit souless in comparison and I really like Eric Kupper's productions and remixes. It's extremely rare that house covers are better and I love House/US Garage music.
I think it needed someone like Kerri Chandler to remix this and make it more raw.
