i just ordered this and will get it in a couple of days. My neighbors are heavy smokers and it's quite dusty here in the area that i live in. Hey! So I own one of these and live in a small apartment. So when I cook, the smell travels through the house. It instantly picked up the poor air quality after cooking and ramped up the fans for like 3 minutes until it stopped. It did eliminate the smell

honestly there is not much difference between any of the models besides covering a larger area. The 4 and 4 pro just has a few more extra features which personally i feel you wouldn't require for a home setting.
I believe so. have been doing it once every 2 months with no issues though it is still safer to change your filter at least once a year or when prompted if you want the proper protection against airborne pollutants. Vacuuming the dust that collects on the outer layer only helps make it easier for your air purifier to function but it does not properly remove the trap particles in the inner layers of the filter which the vacuum is not capable of doing. @@7prudent
@@7prudent air purifiers in general are not very effective against mold in the air. It can trap mold from the air in the filter but it does not remove the mold spores which does not solve the problem completely. If mold is a concern, you should get a dehumidifier as well. Moisture and a humid environment are what make the mold thrive. To fully protect yourself, invest in an air purifier and a dehumidifier. However, if your room has air-conditioning, you can use that to be the dehumidifier although it may not be the best energy cost-wise. If you're not encountering any issues with mold presently, occasionally using your air conditioning should help to prevent it somewhat.

The lite one claims to be effective against h1n1 viruses however, I do not know why it should also not be the case for the compact one. The only differences so far that I have noticed are, the lite one covers a bigger space and it also has temperature and humidity sensors (which shows the air temperature and humidity levels in the room on its LED screen). I am also new to the purifiers so that's all I know so far. I will also get one of them =)
For everyone who asked, Xiaomi support team said it is ozone free and does not produce ions, since that was our biggest concern for our parrots. We emailed them and this is what they said in response.

I have an issue with this product. The air quality indicator keeps switching from "very good" to "good", causing constant mode changes when set to automatic. I've cleaned the sensor and checked if it was related to a pollution issue using another device, but no luck. Am I the only one experiencing this problem?
Unfortunately, the sensor included in the Xiaomi 4 Compact isn't as accurate as those found in some professional air quality monitors. However, it will still alert you when the air quality in your space is low.
You shouldn't wash the filter; you have to clean the pre-filter from time to time and replace the whole filter once the filter replacement indicator lights up. The Xiaomi 4 Compact filter isn't washable!
Has anyone have issue with the Xiaomi app connecting to the purifier? I have a At&t fiber router and I can never get it to connect to it. Even after turning off the 5ghz bandwidth and using only the 2.4ghz bandwidth. What am I doing wrong?

It's not recommended to use an air purifier in high-humidity areas. However, placing a Xiaomi Humidifier in another corner of the room wouldn't make such a large difference in humidity, so I believe using those two devices together would be fine.
Bought this cause I have pollen allergy and it didnt help much. It also lid green when I turned it on which indicates that the air was already clean. So unless you live in a big city with a lot of polution I wouldnt recommend buying one of these.
@@RITechNews I live in Denmark and it didn’t work for me at all. I left it running at full speed for an hour and then left it at sleep mode the entire night. When I woke up I still had itchy eyes, I proceeded to let it run throughout the day but I would still get itchy eyes every now and then like I used to have before I bought it, therefore I decided to return it. Note that throughout the time I had the machine, I put clean sheets on and had my window open for max 10-20 minutes at a time to avoid getting too much pollen in my room but it didn’t make a noticeable difference to me or my allergy. It’s not dusty in my room as I clean it daily because of my pollen allergy. I read somewhere that if you want one that truly helps with allergies you need one with a true Hepa filter, but they are quite expensive and big, so for now I guess eye drops will have to do for me. You can always buy it and return it if it doesn’t help you.
Carbon filter??? I just bought device and a spare filter but none of the two has any carbon in it, just some black metal mesh?!? So wtf is THAT XIAOMI???

I think outdoor quality is measured differently and based on different things.
