Hey everyone! This is my 300th video! It's amazing how far we've come in such a short time, and to celebrate this I'm doing a video that many of you have asked for.... A FULL COLLECTION VID! We're going to check out ALL the basses currently in my lair. Let's do this!

The lesson for me is to not spend too much on a bass because I’ll be damned if I could tell the difference between most of them
That is definitely a good observation, but I'm sure on most of them, they were EQ'd to what Lobster likes as far as tone.
I'm sure each one of these has a bunch of different sounds.
Plus, none of these bass's were junk throw aways either.
With that said...
Yeah, totally, you can take a cheap bass and make a small investment in pickups and have a great sounding bass...lol
Or just leave it 'as is' in most cases, because at this point, even a crummy bass sounds half decent.
Haaaaaaa
:-)
It's all about passion. In band-content you just need a P-Bass. But if you realise the (little) differencis you can't resist to buy more basses. 😀
@@shamrock3639this is the way
I have 5 low end basses, and I’m happy as a “clam” (see what I did there?😉) haha
Lobster has a pretty simple recording setup so there’s a lot of similarity in tone.
Man, that Bongo sitting unplayed is a crime. Sounds absolutely amazing, and it's stunning. Put it to use, Lob!
2 biggest takeaways for me:
1) Dingwalls don’t sound that different without distortion.
2) The relentless pickups! Wow! Ordering now!
The custom warmoth tele bass sounds AWESOME!
Thanks Joseph!

My only takeaway from this video is that P-basses are still amazing. :)
Lobster, congratulations on your 300th video. Thanks for sharing your great collection of basses.
Thanks Matt!
Fully entertaining. Love this channel. Thank you, Lobster, for not making this an excessive slap style video.
Congrats, Lobster! Your channel is only my second subscription in almost 15 years of YouTubin'-thanks for all the great content!
The way you happily laugh after showing each bass makes me believe that all I've got to do is go play some bass to get happier. Thanks dude!
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
"This is awesome!"
"I love this bass."
"One of my favorites."
"It's a Glarry..." XD
XD This gave me a chuckle. Thanks Henry!
It’s not the bass as much as it’s the bassist, you rule🤘🏽
That MM Cutlass stood its ground.
Congratulations on 300 shows!
Thank you Sumbi Sumbi!
Favorite is the Rick for sure. The pickup swap makes a huge difference.
Special mentions to the Big Al 5, the Bongo 5 BFR and the Warmoth telebass.
Congrats on the 300 vids! You sure are very productive for a segment that is definitely hard to be consistent with new content.
Thanks Flipper!
I just found out about you like a week ago and you're now my favorite bass guy on youtube. I love the lobster hand shake thing you do before transforming.
Thanks Vanna! Welcome :)
congrats man! never dropped the quality once for 300 times!
Congratulations on the 300 , I like how you make yourself laugh when you finish playing almost every Bass . It's obvious you are having fun , continuous best wishes moving forward.
Two questions: 1. how much money did you spend on your collection???? 2. What do You do for a living to afford this???
Cool vids by the way!!! ✌️✌️✌️
Great questions! A lot... hahaha, but it's an investment into building a brand, a business, and the channel :). I work in industrial cyber security, it's a good time!
@@LowEndLobster okay crash override wait i misspelled zero cool loljk
I probably just signed my death warrant with a cyber ninja
@@LowEndLobster I assume you are not married with that many basses?
Good example of "the tone is in the hands" because all of these sound similar enough to be interchangeable on a gig.
My gosh, I counted 53 bass guitars minus the ones you mentioned that were borrowed ! I own 6 and I often find I have too much strings to change LOL. Very enjoyable video, thanks for inviting us in your lobster cage.
I loved the sound of the Sire V5 fretless. If I had to choose a fretted amongst everything you own, I'd go with the AFR; been dreaming about that bass since the day I saw an ad in Bass Player in the 90s !
My 3 favorites based (bassed😁) on tone:
#1 - The Custom Strat Bass with the Lindy Fralin pickups
#2 - The walnut Rickenbacker
#3 - The Ibanez Roadster
Thank you for the love Blissful Ignorance 🙏🏼.
Bruce Wayne has the Batcave.
Lobster has The Bass Lair.
😆❤️❤️❤️🎵💕🎸
:) Thanks Willis!
Man it's hard to pick but I would have to go with the Musicman Cutless. You have a magnificent collection. :o)
Thanks Chance!
Why cut less when you can cut more
Nice video! Satisfied the curiosity👍Really liked the sound of the roadster.
Thanks Ty! Yeah the Roadster has fat tone for days
Thank you for all 300! Still my favorite RUclipsr. Also, I'd totally cut off a leg to get a Big Al 5.
Thank you Jiminy!
Congratulations! 🦞 300 is quite a number. 🎉 ....and what a collection!
It was hard to pick my favourite one, I had to narrow down the list as much as possible:
- Ibanez ATK
- FGN Mighty Power LTD
- Strat Bass
- Conklin Rocco Prestia
- Line 6 Variax
- Project Code Red
- DIY P-Bass
- The Spector on the wall
- The Rick on the wall
- The Ray on the wall
Thank you for mentioning the Strat Bass I helped make! 🙏🏼
Thank you B@ssiCS! You have great taste
Great video! Wally the Rickenbacker for the win! That thing sounded amazing. I was also partial to the sound of the DIY Fender P with the Dimarzio split pickups. In the looks department I'm diggng that FGN Mighty Jazz Dark Evolution. Press on!
Thank you!
The big Al just stands out for me from the 5s, and the cutlass from the 4s. The strat bass had a great bounce at the neck.
Great to see your channel thrive.
Omg that Sire fretless tone 😱
That Bongo 5 looks and sounds awesome, you're right, you need to play it more!
Congrats and thanks for 300 videos!
I've watched a lot of your videos and tbh your playing is effortless on the Ibanez EHB every time you bring it out. To me, that's the one that sounds like Lobster. It's clear how special that bass is to you and the channel.
+1 for the greenscreen review of the dean
I will make it happen :)
Congratulations on your 300 video success...im looking forward to video 400.
Mint-O-Ray! 💚 Congrats on the 300th video Lobster!
Thanks James!
My favorite is Wally!
Thank you for your video. It helped me remember that having a collection of anything, for me, is a waste of time and resources. I respect your view anyway, and keeps the factories busy. Thanks for the videos.
Glad you enjoyed it :).
Always the same excited feeling when looking at the Stingray classic. How does a wonderful thing like that even exist on this planet 🥴
Congratulations on your 300th bass video. You are my favorite bass You Tube guy! Where is the Sire U5? Wonderful to hear so many sound samples of your nice basses! Keep up the good work!!
Thank you! I sold the U5, I don't really play many short scales. I have like two in my stable. I enjoy testing them but I feel most comfy on 34-35 inch scale
Congratulations, Lobster. Even with dead strings, I love that EHB. Especially the B string.
That EBMM BONGO is probably the first one I ever saw that I actually liked. Wouldn’t mind having a 4 string version of that. The EBMM Sabre was also really nice.
Thanks B Mac!
How the hell has it been 300 already!? Congrats lobster! Loved this video :)
Thank you! Yeah it creeped up on me too haha
The custom build with the Status neck and Fralins sounded amazing! Obviously it's gonna sound different from where you're sitting, but through my monitors it sounded better than anything else I heard. Really impressive build!
Thank you for the love Cleveland Steamer 🙏🏼
That black n white Epiphone Jack Cassidy sounds really awesome 👍
Congrats on your 300th video Brother Lobster!! I know your channel is primarily focused on bass reviews and demos, but I'm curious as to your story and how you got started playing the bass and are you a giving bassist?. Maybe you could do a video on you sometime. I'm also curious as to how you got the Lobster nickname.
Anyway, great video and I really like a few of the basses you showcased in this here (I am picky 😁) and congrats again on the milestone!!! 🦞🦞🦞
Thanks Kevin! Check out Jonny Dibble's podcast! I was a co-host one week and talk about all that stuff :)
Love your channel! My fav is the custom Warmoth TeleBass. So simple with a single knob and beautiful wood grain. Really looking forward to your upcoming pickups comparison & reviews
Thanks Jeanette! I forgot how warm and old-school it sounded! It's actually a stacked vol/tone, inspired by Me'Shell's Reverend
Congrats on the continued success with the channel. I think my favorite sounding bass in this video was the Taylor/Status stratbass jobbie with the Fralins. As someone who isn't a fan of wood-finish basses, graphite necks or non-traditional bass pickup configs, I'm pretty surprised but man, that bass sounded great!
Thanks CZ Guy!
Thank you CZ Guy. I appreciate the love.
That sire v7 sounds so good! The first bass that threw me off was the ibanez bean bass! Epiphone Jack Casady was neat. Cool showcase, I did watch this starting at 6:45 am :). Love the content...
I wonder how that dean does look with a green screen. Could be funny to review it with that effect going on.
Thank you Warren! I have a non channel related video project requiring a green screen, so I think I still might do this ahaha
Good job, here's to 300 more quality videos! Love the GN shirt too, maybe there will be a gaming computer video for us fellow nerds in the future?
Thanks Collin! I got to meet Steve at PAX East a few years ago, super nice and down to earth dude. That's a great idea!... though I don't know when I'm going to build again, recently upgraded to a RTX 3080 and R5 5600X CPU! Actually, maybe next time I upgrade my workstation/editing rig (RTX 2060 and R9 3900X)
I want the green screen episode and you’ll rave about how it just becomes a part of you. Don’t forget the green turtleneck outfit. Strings, neck, your hands and face, background and whatever expresses yourself in place of the unified bass and player.
I was actually gearing myself up to film it hahahaha. It will happen!
I would LOVE to get more info on the Strat Bass. The neck tone sounded sooo think and woolly and I would love to hear some of the tone combos. Keep the quality videos coming!
Thanks Boogie! Ask and ye shall receive! - ruclips.net/video/ZCdgGltfsAU/видео.html
I know string aging comes down to personal preference, but daaamn that V7 sounded amazing! Great to see and hear the full collection, what a time to be jealous.
And people tell me 18 is a lot. Im tryna be like you! Haha also, can we talk about your discipline for the most part on playing the SAME RIFF on like 30 basses without going too crazy to show each basses true character in comparison with others. Love your channel dude ♥️♥️
Thank you! I know some folks want different riffs, others want the same riff. I went with the same because... well I don't think I could create over 50 random riffs on the spot that would do the basses justice hahaha
Lobster, that BFR Fretless bass is a champ.
Thank you! It is a gem
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for keeping with the same riff too - makes hearing the differences so much easier. That champagne sparkle stingray special really is wonderful!
I stay with you from beginning to end and hope I don't offend you but the Mexico Fender Getty Lee for me was by far the best sounding. Bottom end top end and growl was just awesome. I heading to Mexico! 😁
Thanks Larry! Glad you enjoyed it :) Arriba!
Lobman, Congratulations on the milestone mate ! An excellent channel with great content and presented very well. Thanks to you and a few others like Dale, Mr Dibbles and Thakid for reviving my passion for the instrument!!
Trick question: Your house is about to go up in flames….. the missus is already out safe with the cat….. you’ve got just enough time to throw a bass under each arm on the way out the door before she goes up…..
Which 2 basses out of that awesome collection there do you grab?
Congratulations on your 300th video Lobster. You are an inspiration to us all! That Sparkle Champange Music Man Bass was the one I liked the most.
Thanks John!
The black stingray classic, G&L 1k and the ric have to be my favorites!
So many tones and models, I can't pick 1 favorite! Congrats, your channel is one of the best on RUclips! Cheers! And Regards from BRazil!
Thank you Roger!
The FGN DarkEvolution is my fav. might just be the looks! lol! Hey I'm a Yamaha TRBX lover, you have to try one. I hear the Yamaha BB's are excellent as well but I've never tried one myself. Cheers and congratulations on your channel !!
Thank you! The TRBX is definitely on my list
Played a BB34 the other day and it’s an excellent PJ. Frankly fell in love with it, too bad I’m poor!
The Ibanez Bean bass (8:51) and the StratBass (18:05) were not my cup of tea in the looks department but they sounded surprisingly good. Awesome collection.
Thank you!
Awesome collection man. That Geddy Mexi Jazz is my fav.
Had no idea you were from Massachusetts! I’ll definitely check out 3rd floor guitars for a custom wiring setup on my Sire V7! Much love!
GREAT AWESOME VIDEO !! Nothing like the memories! Betcha there's a story in each bass!
Thanks man! I'm approaching 500 vids and might do the same style thing to celebrate
Ever since seeing Amos Williams play one of those AFR5 and learning about their history it's been living in my head rent-free
300 years ago,
I thought I might get some sleep. I stretched myself out on an antique bed and my spirit did a midnight creep; you know I’ll never sleep no more … I’m about as evil as a boogie bass man can be!
😂😂 did you ever wake up in the morning, with a lobster bass behind your eyes? 😉
Just having fun with ya, man!🥳
Amazing collection. Great RUclipsr and all around great guy. Congratulations on 300 videos. 🥳 I love that D. Taylor strat bass. I’d like to see a review/find out if I could have one built. Also how do you like that lusithand preamp? I’ve been thinking about getting one and pairing it with herrick multi coil pickups for my ray 34 HH. Something worth mentioning is even with all the different electronics and pickup configurations there was a similar sound, you. This video serves as evidence that tone is in the hands. Again congratulations on 300 videos. I’ve been following since around your 10th video and it’s great to see how your channel has grown. Which parallels the growth of my own bass collection. 🤣
I can help you with that. I will post the review that Lobster did of it below. If you are still interested in a build. Let me know and we can start talking business.

Sunday morning treat!
Glad you liked it :)
Hello Lobster ! that's great to see all your basses , but , when you playing a Musicman HH , try another pickups configuration please , ..neck pickup ?
Hey Bassgeek! I have a full in depth video on my BFR HH where I go through all the combos - ruclips.net/video/MI6HEw7GWxU/видео.html Enjoy!
Congratulations 🎉 on 300 videos Lobster 🦞 🎆⭐️💯🎶
My favourite was the G&L L1000 🔥🇦🇺👏🏻🏆
Wow - 300 videos! After listening to, and watching all those basses of yours - my auditory cortex, and occipital lobe are on strike and refuse to process. Good thing I have a ghost writer typing this. As far as the basses go - you had me at the Sire D5.
Thanks Chris! Yeah the D5 has some serious mojo. I'm stoked to put flats on er!
Congratulations Lobster on #300! That is an amazing collection. Every one of those fretless basses sound great. Is there some secret sauce that all fretless basses have or do you just have above average sounding ones? The Jack Cassidy and G&L 1000 are allstars. The biggest suprised to me was the Dean bass. Maybe it had something to do with my retinas being burned out but I thought it sounded great. Definately review worthy.
Raised my eyebrow when you introduced the Musicman Big Al 5 - never heard of this model before. Awesome!
Amazing Lobster, what a great collection of basses. Congratulations on your 300th video.👍 Great channel.
Thank you Phil!
Just want to echo all the other congratulatory comments. Very proud of you and appreciative. There were so many basses. I'm not sure which one I like best. The champagne BFR would probably be in the top selection though.
Thanks Rick!
@@LowEndLobster I appreciate you man and the channel.
Hey! The ol' Ibanez Roadster 924! I have the 824. Passive. What a bass! Mine's an '81. Black. Rock solid.
Nice! They're beastly basses
I know a few things for sure.
1 You’ve worked your ass off 300 videos in a year and a half!!
2. You need more basses!!!!
3. Something happened when you picked op the Rickenbacker, there’s a deep connection there. (As there should be)
4. If I had a soul, I’d offer it for the Roadstar (I know...an Ibanez.....) but I love that bass
And
5. You are fecken AWESOME!!!!
Thank you Tommy! Wouldn't have gotten here without the support of awesome folks like yourself :) you rock!
@@LowEndLobster cheers. And I’ll be here to the end. Btw. I noticed about a week ago that I wasn’t subscribed.,.I thought “he finally had enough of my nonsense and kicked me out”. So I had to re subscribe. Anyway have a great week. Go out and buy a bass....
Just watching this again. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE the Dean Green Screen
Hello Lobster ! the MusicMan BFR Fretless is Awesome !
That Squier Affinity 5 will surprise you. I modded one using Fender American 5 Pick Ups and Fender Hardware and it sounded so good I sold my USA Fender Jazz 5 and kept the Squier. A dozen years later, I still have it.
On one hand I'm jealous of the collection, on the other hand I'm aware of the work it takes to acquire all of that and I'd probably be just as daunted by choice paralysis (I already get that with three).
It's hard for me to pick a favorite, but if I had to it'd be the Stingray classic. I remember when I first started playing bass and seeing some videos of those basses (even playing one in store before I had any money). That classic look and flame maple neck.... I wish I had the money at the time to buy one then because they are rather uncommon now and a bit pricey to me still.
Honorable mention to the D Taylor Strat bass for being one of the most intriguing basses to me. As well as the Ibanez AFR bass for being so darn cool.
Thank you for the love Justin C 🙏🏼
Congratulations!! Maybe it's just me,but they all sounded the same or very similar lol!!
Thanks!
That Jack Cassidy bass has a nice deep "ploink" to it reminiscent of an upright- I can see why you kept it the longest. Beautiful too.
Awesome collection!!!😊Especially that Epiphone embasy
Congratulations on your 300th video! Many more, please 😊
Thanks Mark! We got you covered :)
That Ibanez EHB and Rickenbacker were the two that made my eyes light up. Those JB pickups on that Rick, holy cow.
Congratulations!!! For me, this channel is the reason why I always hang around the youtube.
Hey-ho Lobster. What bass in your harem of the low would you say you pick up the most to play day to day on you non-video time? I really enjoy you and your video content. Whoooooo Buddy)))))
Lobster rules! I loved the Jack Cassidy signature the best of all. Instant 60s Brit Invasion vibes.
This video gave me major GAS. I now want to acquire a fretless (with frets drawn...) and a P exclusively for putting on high end flats... Darn!
Congratulations Low! You are and shall remain da Man! I dig that Sire fretless too! Those LaBella tape wounds are interesting. I have to try some. Keep on groovin! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I liked the Dingwall and the fretless Ray but at the top is the mighty Rickenbacker 4003! Nothin sounds quite like a Rickenbacker.
That pink E Ball with gold hardware.....oooooh! wow
Thanks Celeste :)
The Stingray Classic all the way!!
Wish they were still being made.
Thanks Bassix! Me too
Wow !
:)
Thank you Lobster for your channel, it's very interesting and informative. Congrats on your 300th video! Wow, lots of work there! You seem to be a very nice person and a very good bass player. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity about all those basses that you have. To be honest I mostly hear a lot of tone variations on the most popular basses like the Precision, the Jazz, the Music Man, the Rick, and the Gibson. Do you also gig around? Which would you call your main bass? Peace!
Lobster, you never made a dedicated video on the Sterling SB4!! We need it!!! Thank you!!
BRO!!!! Love all the basses (Specially the Stingrays, my favorites) and love the GROOVES!!!! KEEP GROOVING BROTHER!!!!
Thank you Norb! Stingrays for life!
@@LowEndLobster Amen to that!!! #stingray4life #stingraybros jajajajaja
My favs: Gibson Les Paul Junior DG, Rickenbacker, Fender P base MiM.
The Gibson has the sound I just love, almost like double bass (to my ears). The Rickenbacker is just a different fantastic animal and the Fender sound is just good classic bass sound.
300 fantastic videos! They are all about honest love for a beautiful instrument. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make them and 300 cheers to you Lobster!
Congrats on the 300th video. You've created quite the channel for your fellow navigators of the low frequencies. I love that FGN Mighty Power. Funny thing, I was just planning a build with dual P pickups in a jazz bass style body using those Relentless pickups. You've just validated this as a great idea!
That BTK 5 is pretty sweet, too!
Really dig the Strat bass!!! 🤌🏻🦞
Thanks man! 🙏🏼 it was a fun build!
Thanks Dorss!
Over 50?!? Someone has a habit lol. Really, that's a fantastic collection. I'm many shades of green with envy.
This was a fun video. Thanks for taking us through your collection. I loved seeing and hearing all the different basses. There were a lot of interesting looks and sounds. Very nice!
Awesome job! Your base playing has really come along way since those early videos, you sound great. I have some early Ibanez us and they are some of my favorite pieces. I’m only a quarter of the way through this video right now but I really like some of these tones.
Thank you Brandon!
