agreed, you really know about tape recording all others are wrong or never had a good deck ,even average, if maintenace is done to a deck no hiss will be heard, and dolby C cuts sounds like cds do it the reason why vinyl will always be better, if you think not, buy a good turntable and you´ll see
i never used dolby and no hiss on my tapes , and i kept from all top end models from nakamichi this cassette deck 1, but any top end model from pioneer it´s far better than nakamichi and pioneer´s are flat recorders, sold them all for 10.000€ only have a regular 1000ZXL,maybe i´ll keep it, i have many of those black XLII-S, maybe hundreds, but never 100 minuts ones they damage the decks, but if i was forced to use a dolby i would use the S ,at gun point but nakamichi for the 1000 tracer had a module of NR not dolby but highcom like in some european brands like telefunken etc.
@@moko8237 This CD-1 is an excellent deck. It's a 3-head deck with azimuth adjustment. If you don't require those features, you're better off purchasing a well-maintained Nak cheaper model, like the Cassette Deck 2 or DR-3. They also sound great, and in my experience, they're incredibly dependable. The specifications of the TOTL versions are superior, although the variations in sound quality are not that great.
Dolby C was overall the best in well aligned good decks. It almost always imposed a characteristic couple of dB scoop in the upper mids response though.
Hola, tinc un dubte que em fa ballar el cap fa molt de temps. Es referent al balanç de la gravació. Mai ho he entes bé. Al meu parer, si la font estéreo está correctament "balancejada" , es a dir per un canal va una senyal i pel altre l'altra (amb les seves diferències de nivells "normals" en la gravació ...) pq ajustes el balanç al grabar la cinta en aquest cas una mica més en el canal dret ? Pot ser pq la pletina tingui algun desajust de canals intern en la gravació ..? Gràcies i perdona la parrafada. Salutacions. P.D.: hi ha un JVC NR50 a Eby per 750, creus que és un preu raonable ?

No recordo exactament el motiu del desequilibri entre els canals R/L, però estic gairebé segur que era degut a la font. En aquest cas era un vinil i, com sabràs, moltes vegades segons quins discos tenen certa discrepància entre canals. També pot influir la cinta; molt sovint em trobo amb cintes que tenen més sensibilitat per un canal que per l'altre y és necessari ajustar el 'balance' per aconseguir una gravació més equilibrada. En aquest cas no crec que sigui el motiu, perquè el vídeo mostra que els nivells R/L del 'vumeter' no canvien quan commuto entre 'source' i 'tape'. Pel que fa al JVC, no és fàcil trobar-los i s'aprofiten amb els preus... em sembla car, però això depèn de les ganes que tinguis de tenir-ne un. 😋 Salutacions des de Barcelona ;)
Can't remember but it must be because the left channel of the record sounded louder. Very good decks you've got! I've got quite a few TOTL models: CR-7, TC-K990ES, RS-B965... :)
@@HiFisquarepants I also always ran without Dolby in the 80s & 90s, this is why my preferred tape was the TDK SA-X as it had the lowest tape hiss. Without Dolby the impulse dynamics just felt more direct.

@@HiFisquarepants non prenderla come un accusa personale, io ho solo giudicato la registrazione, e chi ha orecchio per ascoltare puo notare la plausibile differenza, poi ovvio tutto è soggettivo, ma in questo caso è un fato controvertibile, forse andava regolato meglio il bias e il livello di registrazione in modo tale da far uscire il suono dall'effetto del dolbi che ovviamente taglia le alte frequenze ma ad un livello piu alto e con una registrazione che enfatizzi le alte frequenze il risultato potrebbe essere piu accettabile, la piastra che hai utilizzato e una buona macchina e puo dare risultati migliori soprattutto con nastri al cromo o metal come quello che hai usato tutto qua, cmq bel video interessante 💪
@@andrealoiacono2524 Ovviamente sono aperto a qualsiasi commento. Puoi ascoltare e parlare di qualsiasi cosa, ma tieni presente che si tratta solo di un'opinione e non di una verità oggettiva. Ho usato un nastro Chrome e un deck che sicuramente non è il massimo per i video (ho deck migliori). Ha solo Bias e nessun livello, ma l'ho comunque regolato per ottenere la migliore registrazione possibile. Ho eseguito dei test per regolare il Bias e rivedere i livelli Dolby prima della registrazione finale. L'analisi della curva di frequenza eseguita con Adobe Audition non ha mostrato una riduzione significativa delle alte frequenze rispetto al suono fonte, e non ho nemmeno percepito una differenza significativa. Quindi dire che la registrazione è terribile è un'esagerazione. Come ho già detto, la mia opzione preferita è "Dolby OFF"; Potrebbe avere qualche rumore di fondo, ma nel complesso mi sembra più naturale. Saluti!

I like better no Dolby... I feel B and C subtract a smidge of mid-highs.

Non vedo queste differenze. "Dolby OFF" è la mia opzione preferita, ma "Dolby C" e "Dolby B" riducono il fruscio senza eliminare le alte frequenze.
