- The Three Rules of Discipline and Eight Points for Attention is a military doctrine that was issued in 1928 by Mao Zedong and his associates for the Chinese Red Army, who were then fighting against the Kuomintang.

No matter what profession you are engaged in, you must first learn how to be an excellent individual and then learn professional skills....
Incidentally, these rules are STILL strictly followed (as far as they are relevant to the work at hand) in ANY kind of Party work out in the countryside and in other contexts - I know of no surer way to face Party discipline (up to and including expulsion) than by violating them.
