      That was a mechanically injected diesel. 12v to the fuel shutoff solenoid and that’s it. No ECU. I’ve pulled mechanical injection diesels out of barns after having sat for 15 years and they still run on the old diesel in the tank. Top gear’s test was entertaining, but hardly profound.
      And btw, that was a Hilux, which we don’t get. The Taco isn’t even close to the hilux in terms of capability.

      Mekhi Harris what about 2020 Nissan Titan or Nissan warrior do they have trouble I’m thinking of getting a new truck but don’t know not ford nor ram nor gmc or Chevy only good Toyota right what about others

    • @Khi.252
      @Khi.252 4 года назад

      John Mcclane Nissan motors are fairly reliable, but from what I know the Titan does not have a CVT, and a 9 Speed auto instead. That would most likely last longer than a CVT. Titan is not a bad truck by any means, but some people don’t classify it as a real “truck” because it wasn’t made by Ford, Ram, or Chevrolet.

      Don’t push it. From what I read that’s an interference engine, don’t destroy your engine because you neglected to maintenance. Change it when it’s due, but granted if you drive mostly highway you can get away with pushing it a little bit

    • @pH7screwtube

      Yeah...... The engine has a timing belt. Not sure why he keeps saying chain. And you should always change the water pump and belt at the same time.

      my northern manual tranny v8 gmc is at 354k, 3 alternators, two a/c pumps, frame welded, gaskets. Brake drums worn (all 23 pounds each) right through...the back diff cover burrowed a hole through the steel, just by the ring gear spinning that many miles. Funny enough, the frame work is from overloading... Any claim to high miles on an automatic is another sign of hoax. At 500k, you are warding off nuclear reactions. My dad had an 87 pickup which was similar to the hilux top gear used and it was so problematic that he bought another 4 years later. Then that one ate through 3 radiators several batteries, and half of the time wouldnt start. But my aunt worked for toyota so he always had the family discount. We had the 91 for 12 years, and then we bought a new yukon in 2004, and now its also 12 years old it has held up much better. Although, my one gripe is the incredibly shitty speakers GM put in tho vehicles if they didnt come with a bose setup. Theyre really bad. My isuzu trooper is 15 years old and that doesnt have any problems either. Older nissans are reliable, like bulletproof, hondas have their problems in the automatic transmission department but i dig their accords

      I had a '94 that went to over 300,000 which SHOULD have been totaled after an interstate disaster, and then was beaten like hell by a guy who didn't respect it for a LONG time. Car was still reliable as hell and built like a tank. Figuring it wasn't worth anything I just gave it to my nephew who hit ditches with it and had to get it pulled out, etc. Still went strong. Then his dad got it and drove the oil out of it (leaking valve cover gasket) and finally killed the engine. RIP.

    Decided to change the engine oil my self and I accidentally drain all the transmission oil out of my brand new 2008 thundra than filled up the engine with 6 quarts of oil. Total 12 quarts of engine oil. Old oil plus new oil. I drove 400 miles and started to smell something burning and smoking. It was the transmission with no oil in it. Filled it up with transmission oil. Drove it 200,000 miles and still driving it today with no problems. Still original transmission and original engine. If I hadn't done it myself I wouldn't of believed it myself. I will never ever buy any other truck. I'm sold on Toyota for life.

    Good luck finding a timing chain when you tear it apart. The 4.7 uses a timing belt. it's also supposed to be changed every 90k according to the manual. So either Toyota wants you to buy unneeded belts or he got very lucky that one of the 3 didn't break in the 250k mile span between changes.

    My 2009 Rav4 V6 Limited has 208,000 miles on it. Still runs great. The only repairs I've had were one wheel bearing needed to be changed. I tried, I couldn't get the bolts off, so i had to take it to the family mechanic. I changed the radiator when a rock hit it, but that's not really a mechanical issue. I actually have a hole in my condenser right now, but it's winter, so there's no rush. I'll do that as soon as it gets warmer, but that's it other than maintenance.

      I'm sure you had to buy the truck brand new and be the only owner. Nobody drives their truck this much unless its basically being used as a UPS vehicle like this one was. The 117 oil changes got me. Only changing the oil every 9000 miles and it made it to 1 million. Probably used synthetic oil but didn't say. If they used the same oil every time, the oil company should have jumped at the chance to promote their product too.

      He was joking. (I hope) Only analog odometers turn back to zero because they physically spin. They're numbered 0 - 9 so, naturally, when it spins past 9 it just turns back to zero. But since this odometer is digital, it doesn't go back to 0. But it does stop at 999,999 - I assume this is because the display doesn't have a 7th digit to display - so it can only handle six numbers across as no manufacture expects one million miles. I'm told the owner used the Trip Odometer to keep track of the miles after he hit the the mileage shown.
