    As a former owner of 3 different Unihertz phones, I need to mention that their software update policy used to be less than 12 months - the Jelly 2 got three updates, and that was it. The Jelly Star got even fewer I think. This may have changed but this leaves the phones dangerously vulnerable. I also had my Unihertz Jelly Star phone short circuit randomly (it wasn't even charging - I could just smell burning plastic) and it had got so hot that just by picking it up it burned my hand so badly I needed to go to hospital. Unihertz couldn't have cared any less. They confirmed after I sent it back that it had short circuited and did nothing except eventually offer a replacement or refund (they originally offered me $20 - yes, twenty). Beware.
    Lots of features are great if they actually maintain and support them - but Unihertz don't.
    They're made to sell, not made to last.

    • @Sovereign_Citruz
      @Sovereign_Citruz Year ago +66

      I own this as a daily driver, as I am a driver. The battery lasts 2 (literally 48 hours) whole days when I am using like 10+ delivery apps with all the "radios" GPS, WiFi with scanning , blue tooth. Adaptive brightness, navigating, and streaming RUclips or music, with the fan on Max for 6 hour increments ....and can still get about an hour or so of projection life when all that is done and it's at 20 percent 🤣🤣🤣🤣Etc.... just for the quick charger to have it to a .... 30-50% if I turn it off or leave it alone..... It charges and maintains a charge while projecting. as long as you aren't in a hot environment (bathroom with the heater (90°f+) and shower on akin to makeshift sauna) it doesn't overheat during projection.... And on normal usage days..... It can last approximately 7 literal full days of day and night, urban city (ATL) usage , and approx 14 literal days of remote or extremely rural (hermit style) living .... All of this is before I even touch the power saving mode 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤓🍊🌳. Follow my twitch @just_citruz ijs you made it this far 😁🥂 I also managed to break my first one during the first 2 months of owning it.... It slipped outta my pocket while unloading a delivery and fell (glass) screen first on a jagged rock style curb.... Literal shards and slivers of glass would flake off.... Get the *insert 3rd party warranty* as the Amazon one saved me. I also bought a heavy duty finger ring... (The first ones broke and I have to use "mounting adhesive tape" instead of the adhesive they come with) And a Paracord professional camera wrist strap as it is literally 2 lbs....

    I bought one around an year ago. The best phone I ever had. I dropped it about a hundred times and nothing. Also put a Sandisk 2TB MicroSD and stored a ton of movies on it to watch while camping. Only complain is that the charging brick died after 7-8 months. If you don't mind caring a brick in your pocket and having Mid-Range performance I recomend this phone. It has a lot of features you don't see on normal phones any more and about 4 days worth of battery for a heavy user.

Nothing serious, only about 50 cm deep and for about 10 min at most, but there is no damage what so ever to the phone or projector. I think it can withstand way more abuse than this when it comes to water due to the gasket but I never personally "tested it"

    • @ben_1
      @ben_1 Year ago +8

      Don't know, looks like the bezels are mostly because the protective casing, not extra space for the internal components like older phones. So leaving out space in the armour to accommodate a camera would not be ideal.

    I got one of these and was happy to see your teardown. As a purchaser of weird chinese phones I always get one with a huge battery.
    I use accubattery app and can report that the actual capacity in the wild is nearly 21000 mAh.
    This one replaced a blackview that I had to replace the charging board on twice.
    So far so good, its only been about four months. When i first used it, there was a software update so that is better than nothing.
    The real feature of the projector is the automatic keystone correction. When you lay it at an angle it will fix the image after a few seconds.
    Brought it to a theater before the real show started and projected on to the theater screen. It worked pretty well considering how small the lightsource is.
    My next goal is to get a 1tb sd card and load it up with content in case of the apocalypse (no cell or wifi).
    Interestingly when it was originally manufactured it had red and blue flashing lights with a siren mode which got nerfed upon distribution. Mine has the red and blue LED sections but i havent gotten them to light up.
    Overall its a super sweet pocket brick and worth every penny.
    When you consider buying the latest iPhone this thing is half the price for at least 10 times the value.

      @eps-nx8zgdefinitely true the screen would crack. But for the fan I use an air compressor to blow it out every once in a while. I should also say the intake and exhaust ports have the outside grill, another mesh grill inside, then a black mesh filter material so I doubt any dust getting in there is big enough to do damage to the fan
