Also, many don't seem to understand the concept of 'dressing for the occasion'. Showing up in random trashy outfits at work, or even funerals. Yep, I've seen it happen too many times.
I always go to my hair dresser, washed, dressed, makeup on, hair blow dried, and straight ironed (curly hair), so she can cut my hair evenly. What a beautiful nostalgic film... all those beauties of that day & their natural glowing smiles, lovely hairdos, and most of all - they all looked different & were all beautiful in their own way!!! Unlike the plastic monstrosities of today, everyone striving to have that uniform look of huge eyes & lips & teeny tiny noses, like an army of clones. I wonder - had they had the possibilities of plastic surgery that we do today, would they have done the same? Either way; there was no pressure on women imposed by social media, the ongoing struggle to be & look perfect, whatever that means. Everything has moved on so quickly, I think the world needs to slow down a bit & we as people need to go back to our roots and find our beauty within, not in the plastic surgeon’s office.
i'm binge watching all of these videos, and all I can say is that people had a different kind of "innocent" look like a pure kind of being, while nowadays we are all stressed, anxious, running from a place to another

I strongly suspect that the voices (and the closing car door) are modern and dubbed, and that this was originally filmed with a silent camera. Note the absence of street noise, for one thing. Sound cameras were relatively difficult to use, not like your smartphone video.

♥️I love and miss you dearly ♥️
Nice! No pajama wearing Walmart types.
You're right...Bleggggghhhhhh!!!
You do such tasteful imagery and sound (except for the one with babies crying when the film doesn't have them crying). I love your work!
So beautifully dressed!
You must be congratulated on this wonderful project which profoundly alters our perspective on the otherness of the B&W era.
Everyone looked sooo happy, no stress at all
Going through the economic crisis, two World Wars and Hitler? Sure.
@@monikasadauskaite7368 Didn't affect women in the USA.
@@monikasadauskaite7368
My grandparents went through both world wars, my parents grew up in the depression, all the men in my family either fought in WW1, WW11 and Korea. It was called being resilient and accepting your lot in life and working through it each day with optimism and determination. Now a days we have safe places for the weak minded and for those who think the world has to revolve around them and owe them something. Long gone are the days where dug in and made your life better
These are wonderful movie clips. Thank your, glamourdaze.
I can't believe the 1930s is almost a century ago. When I think of 100 years ago, I still think of the long dresses, corsets and victorian style. The 20th century feels not that long ago to me.
I love these enhanced films. They make me connect and feel close to the people in the films. Good job!
So beautiful.. I love how they walk with such elegance. And the hair is so neat . I client came into my work yesterday and the first thing she said was . Sorry I haven’t brushed my hair I couldn’t be bothered 😕. I mean really it was at 9am
Wow, that’s just lazy.
Bread sticks very , I brushed my hair for her .
I see it as a sign of respect to the people that you meet on a day, as well as a sign of self respect, to look somewhat put together before leaving the house.
But I guess some people just don't care.
It seems weird to me to NOT do those thing, I mean, I will leave with salon styled hair for pete's sake. Wearing sweats, or looking unkempt otherwise seems silly, and like the other girl stated, lazy.
@@kirstenbakker839 I was at a wedding once where a guys date came in a cut off jean skirt, spaghetti strap tank top, and flip flops. Meanwhile, everyone else was dressed up, and done up nicely. I felt bad for her, maybe she didn't know any better? I'm hoping that was the case.
I like that people actually put effort into their style back then.
No Walmarts, no Kmarts, no fast food restaurants, no food chains, just ppl strolling along downtown leisurely walking with family and friends.
This footage is pure gold for me ! Nice job !!!
@0:16 My instant reaction was, "wait those girls can't be more than 16, and they're dressed like grannies", but then I realized, maybe the grannies I know dress like that because they are still dressing like when they were teenagers. That's why as we get older we don't like the new fashions, because we still think the one we experienced first was the best.
C’est vraiment impressionnant ! C’est magnifique et très émouvant à la fois car les personnes que nous voyons ne sont plus . Cela donne le vertige . Merci encore 👌
Beautiful smiles 💖
The two women at 1:25 were my favorites...their clothes, demeanor, their confident walk; really lovely.
i'm binge watching all of these videos, and all I can say is that people had a different kind of "innocent" look like a pure kind of being, while nowadays we are all stressed, anxious, running from a place to another
So memorizing. ✨
Oh My God! Thanks so much for this MAGICAL images...True Paints of that GLORIOUS time! Pre-war...and they time when was True, the REAL NATURAL FEMALE BEAUTY! 🌹
Love this -- these women were gorgeous and so classy-looking and seemed happy. None of them overweight, tattooed, masked, or glued to a screen thing.
Beautiful people!
KCK
The incongruity of seeing a female celebrity in a beautiful and feminine evening gown and tats up an arm or on her back or chest disturbs me. Some women will have a small tat discreetly placed, but some go all out.
I love this. Thanks for sharing.
I love how people used to dress up more, they have outfits for different occasion ❤️
These videos are a time capsule. Love it!
I wish this was the beauty standard
I wish I grew up in that era. People actually cared what they looked like before they left the house. Another thing I just thought of is that everyone in this video is probably no longer with us.
My favorite part was hearing their voices (especially the 'oh my lord!' and 'smile')!
I strongly suspect that the voices (and the closing car door) are modern and dubbed, and that this was originally filmed with a silent camera. Note the absence of street noise, for one thing. Sound cameras were relatively difficult to use, not like your smartphone video.
FYI: Marilyn Monroe was just 12 years and James Dean was 7 years old at that time.
I was -9
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 Really??
So you were born 1929? You're now 92. You still have a good eyesight and strength to browse the internet!
Then: People smiling at cameras
Today: Stop filming me, I'll sue you!
"You're violating my personal space".
What a lovely and beautiful video ❤️
Love how they all had to have theirs furs. My grandmother was so proud if hers.
Glad we do not hurt animals as much for them and people look foolish if they wear furs today.
@@Jerknoir-a-saurus The fur looked much better on the beautiful animals than they did on these women. Fur makes one look bulky and shapeless. How would you like to be forced to live in a cramped, filthy cage and later be dragged out, bashed in the head, skinned alive etc just so some vain person could wear your skin? Would that be classy?
@@Jerknoir-a-saurus And yet here you are replying. i am for sure no Karen. I am a person who has compassion for the helpless be they human or animal, too bad you lack that trait.
@@kina18 Well said 👍... I’m no Karen either but I do love animals & HATE cruelty to them for the sake of vanity & MONEY !!!
@@lydialily846 Thank you and thank you for caring about animals!
What beautiful smiles, and I love the trousers on the women - radical!
The beginning of the end of elegance!
I have always heard the key to happiness is to keep your world small...these people lived in an incredibly small world. The furthest they traveled was probably 50 miles by train and lived in small towns (most people) where everyone knew everyone and they didn’t have mass media showing off the lavish lives of the wealthy creating wants and needs they were happy with what they had and didn’t really know any different and were part of a community...don’t forget though while this was being filmed millions of people were starving to death in Eastern Europe,Russia and China.
Oh my god! That was really really cool!
Classy and look how fit and healthy people were back then.
Incredible. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
My mother was glamorous in the 1940’s.
Love how their smiles just appear! Its beautiful
No plastic in sight, just beautiful 💓🌹
Какие элегантные и стильные классические автомобили 30-40х годов, и какие открытые и приветливые лица застенчивых и красивых девушек...хочется перенестись туда и остаться...эта простота и красота одновременно - то, чего сегодня так не хватает...
In these old films, late 1890s to 1960s everyone is always dressed up, in modern times we are slouchy and trashy, and myself included.
That was so swell the way you used the music and sound to bring all of those luvly people of 1938 back to life!
my imagination wants me to tell you "thank you very much" 🙇♀️💕
The woman's They dress beautifully, their beauty is natural, now not everything is artificial
Amazing, brought back to life so tastefully! thank you !
L’élégance absolue...
Whoever recorded it... God bless your soul.
Class!! Ladies dressed with self-respect and confidence.
Seeing such an old video enhanced like this really makes that time seem real. Obviously it was real but removing the barrier of much lower quality film and putting it in color just brings it to life. Wow
