You can have a racquet with strings that are a few years old and they can still be fine. I got my dad's old racquet that was strung over 3 years ago tested by a professional stringer and his were at like 49. My hybrid that was strung by a retired tennis coach about 3 weeks ago had dropped to 24 from 55....He said that you should expect the tension to drop a little but never that much unless it was done incorrectly. I guess the weekly restringing is for people that notice a big difference in 2 lb difference and play tournaments.

For poly-string, hard hitter, playing single, you should restring it after 20-30 hours of playtime if the string is not broken yet.
For super hard hitter, the string would break after 2-10 hours of playtime.
Playing double, the string would last twice as longer time.
For median hitter, playing single, 30-50 hours of playtime.

Change your string when it sounds like sharapova.

I simply change them when they break. I guess that's enough for my level

please recommend a string. i play from the baselineish area alot of the time with power and a small bit of spin and sometimes slice/drop shots. im looking for a string with good power and one that i wont have to get restrung every couple weeks/goes dead and one that doesnt lose its tension. i dont care how much it costs but not natural gut as durability is not good. thanks

impossible to have power and durability, multifilament if you need power + string savers to extend life is best bet, if you have fast strokes and can supply your own power then poly is good for durability but will lose tension rapidly and unexpectedly, best poly then would be a softer poly like vokl cyclone tour for power and the durability of poly. However you will lose tension faster than natural gut or a multi

No one knows what they're talking about! If I play say 3 times a week, they say change it 3 times a year which is every 4 months or 17 weeks, say I play 2 hours at a time which is 6 hours a week. That's about 100 hours in 4 months. WTH??

Wouldn't hitting balls into the net usually imply he'd want a string that is a little higher powered? Hyper G is very low powered.
