Usually I have moments where I pick every little spot on my face all at once and then it looks horrible. I haven't picked my face like that in a while until today. This video really helped.
I do that all the time ! It's been a while since you wrote that command, have you stopped? And I think if I dont pick on every little thing , my face will judt clog up completly !! Am I the only one ? I really need to stop
i do the same thing.. ive realized the more i pick the more i leave my skin opened to dirt n grim the more it will flare then the more i pick. its a terrible cycle but if i have a zit i feel like its gross n needs popped... but then it looks terrible all red n even more swollen from picking. i hate it!!!
Omg this sounds great. I usually pick when I'm literally right about to get in the shower and then my fave is usually bleeding by the time I actually get in.
I always wear a rubber band on my wrist and when I start to touch my face or start pick at a bump I'll snap the rubber band. It's been really helpful for me.
I have had problems with popping my pimples for several years now, my acne isn't severe but I pick at pimples that aren't even there if that makes sense. I have tried to stop and am hoping I will be able to
When I zone out at school or eating tv/RUclips I pick my acne.... I used to have such clear skin but this fucking habit is to angering... I've tried but I can't stop. I guess all I do not is when I realize I'm picking I stop immediately but the damage is already done :(
Things i do: set timer for myself to wash my face and brush my teeth, because if i have plenty of time i will start picking. Next to my mirror i have a picture of a woman with really nice acne free skin and next to that i have a woman with terrible scarring. I started sewing, drawing and painting just so when i watch netflix i won't touch my face. I am still working on it but it has gotten better.
I feel that i would only have a couple of pimples if it wasn't for picking it just causes them to multiply and its so hard to stop especially when know a white heads gonna go away quicker. I just don't know how to leave them more than a few days.
Sometimes I get soooo angry because one of the main reasons I pick my pimples now is because when I was younger my mom would pick at them and I became intrigued by the way the puss looked and how it felt (I know gross). I'm already 13 and I feel like if my mom had never picked at my pimples I would never be interested in doing the same thing to myself 😒 I also pick at my acne if I'm bored or zoned out and I'm still trying to get over the habit.
I also have a harmless condition that makes me have some whiteheads and just some bumps on my arms (apparently it's not eczema) and I sometimes pick at those too, even though I used to pick at certain spots so much that my skin was VERY dark in the area and it looked like I had a disease basically 😂 it's pretty much gone now but I always try to remember how I stopped picking at my arms because it was so long ago and I need that same motivation for my face. I also feel that the condition I have disables me in a way because I almost never wear tank tops and wear sweaters a lot because I'm so self-conscious about it. If anyone could give me any advice on not feeling so bad about it I would be SO greatful. Thanks.
i feel you. i have the bumps on my arms too. it's called keratosis pilaris, it's actually just a skin type. i try really hard not to pick at it so i pick at my face, back or legs instead. i pick when i'm more stressed.... like right now. i have so many papers to write. i literally have a bandaid on my face right now because i keep squeezing the same spot hoping something will come out. :( i wish it was socially acceptable to wear bandaids on your face. i feel like that would help me with the picking. anywho! good luck on your journey to healthier skin!
I have the same issue you do, anytime I'm stressed or angry or upset the first thing I do is pick at my face and now I have terrible scaring! I've been trying to stop but I've been having a really hard time with it and I don't know why :/
krystal mullen Same. When that happens I would find another way of getting all that anger out of myself. I would draw or color or write about it. Writing about it really helped me. Now I have acne journal hahahha. Like i write how i know picking skin won't help and I'll create even more problems or i write about the thing im stressed about. And every time i want to pick my skin i read it again. It helped me but it's just an idea. Have a nice day.
HAUNTING SISTERS 2k16 Actually it does the opposite. Putting moisturizer on your face hydrates the skin and prevents the face from producing sebum (A oil your skin produces to hydrate your skin). If you moisturize your skin will not produce it.
When I have like a spot that I feel like I'm going to pick on I put a small dot band-aid on it ... Like the small circular ones and it helps me to not pick at it
I pick when I'm procrastinating doing other things like homework or something and I always like yell at myself in my head during it and say you know you'll regret this in 5 minutes😂😂 when it's really bad, I'll usually take a picture the next day so when I see it it reminds me what's going to happen (a few days ago I literally picked and popped for 5 hours straight bc I'd just had jaw surgery leaving my face very numb and I couldn't sleep so yeah 5 hours straight, which gave me a few large bruises on my cheeks which later turned to scabs and basically it was a nightmare)
you are so right..i pick when I'm stressed on as u said zoned out it happens without me realizing it then i pay attention to what I'm doing but usually after the damage is done.. it also happens to me sometimes when I'm watching tv. but i have to say it's gotten less these days or months because i used to do that so many times during the day but now i guess it's better and u r so right about the make up i don't pick on my face when i have it on ..thanx for the video i hope u and me and anyone who does that would stop for good & hopefully soon.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, so from the psychological standpoint you’re right, there is definitely a psychological component at play. It’s Dermatrillomania. It’s an impulse control disorder which is related to OCD. (And, yes, I have a spot on my face I picked while watching this😳)
I started when i was really young, now I'm 30 and still do it and have a love/hate relationship with it. At the time it feels good, it relieves my tension and anxiety and it is satisfying to feel like you are cleaning your skin out but afterwards i regret it when i get red marks and sores that stand out when almost no one would have noticed before i picked. I find wearing gloves helps, having a stress ball to squeeze and having people know and keep me accountable. Thank you for sharing! It helps to know I'm not alone battling this. I believe we can all win this battle!
These tips are great! They really do work a lot--washing your face or doing your nails is a good one. So is avoiding mirrors. Another tip that I find helps is to let your family members help tell you when you're doing it and that you should stop.
Wow!! Everything you describe about yourself are the exact same things I do! I thought I was the only one who picked when stressed out or when zoned out. Thanks so much for your tips!!!
So I know that this is an old video but I can relate because I have trichotillomania (a hair pulling disorder) and then I shaved my head so now I've started picking my skin and even biting (dermatillomania/dermatillophasia). Advice I would give is more to deal with your stress and recognize things that trigger you. I personally knit a lot because I like the feeling. Good luck!
I love how you make a lot of acne videos because they are SOOO helpful. I have acne and it makes me feel good to watch your videos to get tips and know that I'm not the only one :) Your tips have really helped me, and I have felt really insecure because of my acne, but you have shown me how to stay brave and confident :D
What is strange for me is that I actually caught myself picking while watching this video on tips to stop picking. I have picked my entire life. I had a Dr tell me one time that I have OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Picking Disorder). I only hard the term that one time, so I'm not sure if its an actual thing. It does sound legit though.... lol. My anxiety plays such a huge role in my picking that I was put on medication for it. I have found though that it only helps slightly due to it being such a huge habit for me. One major tip that I have that I haven't listed is that I always try to keep something in my hands. Whether it is a pen, ball, hair tie. As long as I have something in my hand to keep it occupied, I don't pick. I also want to say that I came across this channel today for the first time, and I love it already!!
Amanda Adkins yes it is a real thing just not called OCPD. It’s called Excoriation disorder or dermatillomania I have this disorder which is from my OCD. It’s basically. Compulsive picking at a specific part of skin, for me it’s my face, back, neck, shoulders, knees, calves, and thighs. Keeping your hands doing something is a good way to help but for me it doesn’t work. I have to be completely distracted like drawing, taking care or my animals, dancing, writing, HB riding lessons, ext. mainly from my disorders I have but I would try (as lame as it sounds) a figit spinner. It worked for me for a while then just failed horribly. I hope your skin has gotten better!
This video helped me a lot! I have so many acne scars on my back and shoulders. Usually I pick before I go in the shower, so I find that just going straight into the shower helps me not pick. Thanks again!
There’s a diagnosis for this called Dermatilomania. It’s a form of OCD. These tips are very helpful! If you’re still struggling, definitely see a doctor as some medications can help with this.
Here's what helped me the most: 1- Leave messages on my mirrors. Set goals for yourself like don't pick for one week, and write something like "Just 1 week!" on a sticky note and tape it to the mirror. 2- Get family involved. If you usually pick in the bathroom, ask them to just knock on the door and check on you if you're in there for a while. 3- Having long nails. People would always tell me to cut my nails, but I preferred to keep them long. The longer my nails were, the more it felt like they were going to break when I picked, so it kept me from picking.
I don't know if you are still struggling with picking or not but I used to and I really am in love with GlamGlow's Super mud mask. It literally dries and shows marks around pores which is really satisfying to see it cleaning out all that gunk. Also watching some of the nasty blackhead removals and cyst removal videos out there.
i suffered the same thing, physically and definitely psychologically! for the past year and a half ive dealt with lots of scars on my cheeks and just like you when im stressed i go right to the bathroom, lean over and pick anything that i can! i also pick the sides of my thumbs when im stressed to the point where they are bleeding non-stop. in the past year ive had 4 microdermabrasions done and they have helped alot! they are worth the money. thank you so much for the tips! best of luck to you:)
The thing about my picking is that it's not a blackhead (it's not black) or a pimple (it's not red) ...I don't know it's like the color of my skin and if I pick it too much it bleeds...I've gotten down to only two spots on my nose near my nostrils, but I've had these for like 2-3 years and I used to have them really bad al over my nose. I feel so accomplished after but also feel bad, because I know it's gonna grow back the next day, and I'm gonna pick it again👎 that's another thing it like "grows back" every time I pick it it grows right back like I hate it so much...but it's so liberating to pick it off😩😩😩😩😩 I've tried acne products but I defeat the purpose because I pick them with dirty hands, and I know that's bad but when I get to picking I can't stop😕
Krhodes02 those are not pimples. Those are sebaceous fillaments. They're actually supposed to be there and are totally normal. Everyone has them. Its just an accumulation of sebum in your pores, which is normal. They usually ally aren't visible but the more you pick at them the more you damage your pores and open them, which makes the filaments visible. So i know you think you're helping by squeezing them but you're actually permanently damaging your skin. I struggle with squeezing them too, but i find it helped me a lot to do it less and less when i found out that they were a normal part of my skin and that there was nothing wrong with me. Seriously. There's nothing wrong with you.
Okay so it's been about a year since I commented and my doctor gave me benzoyl peroxide for my pimples and let me just say it works like a charm. It pretty much works overnight. My skin isn't perfectly clear but there's definitely a huge difference. As for the habit of picking them, I still pick mine every once in a great while but I guess i just learned to stop doing it so frequently, I don't really know how to help with that one.
i picked my acne because of stress too! it got soo bad i would pick in my sleep! i was always really embarrassed of it too. its so reassuring that someone as beautiful (inside and out) as you was going through the samething as me! thanks! your so, so, SO amazing!!!
Anytime it takes me a long time to do homework I walk to the bathroom and start picking 😖 idek y I do that I just like the way it looks I guess (gross 🤢). I always start to cry afterwards and I even started crying during this Bc I also do the same thing. I always tell myself to stop but I do it anyway 😞. If only I hadn't started picking in the first place they wouldn't be as bad. I hate going in public or school Bc I'm like the only one who as pimples and they always stare at me 😥. I just with all of my pimples would go away 😕😞😭
Trust me, I used to do exactly the same thing while I was a teen (for yeaaars) but, one day, I kind of grew out of it. The main thing that helped me was getting a proper skin routine which means I then avoid touching my face. Picking can be very addictive. I used to leave my face burning and stinging after attacking it brutally. It leaves you feeling so crappy about yourself afterwards :( Try to spend one whole day only being kind and gentle with the skin on your face. Then try to turn that one day into 3 days, then 7 days, etc. I admit, I still have to squeeze any new nasty spots I get but generally I have abandoned my picking addiction by doing all of the above. You can do it! :)
@@emilycaro888 thank you :) i actually did grow out of it and my skin is at one of its best moments i found a skin care products that actually worked for me and thank godddd bc 3 years ago i was about to throw hands with my face
Im 14 and i have scarred my face really badly and my family tried to help me but i felt like no one really understood. now i realized that i did it when i was feeling upset. Recently i started wearing makeup and it has helped. When i stopped picking my face for the most part i started picking at other parts of my body. Everything you are saying here I can 100% relate to . This video is so helpful!
I am so happy to actually see and hear someone talk about this :) Thank you!!! You are incredibly brave ((hugs)) I have zoned out in the mirror at night after removing my contacts for YEARS...and although I have gotten better with it, I have on scarred area on my forehead that I have picked at for over 8 years and nothing can cover :( For me, anxiety meds help quite a bit, but it is still an everyday battle for me. If you can come up with anything that can cover a DARK raised scar :)
I did evreything you did(especially scratching my back:)))....it took like an year for me to make this work and to educate myself,if I may say that... it works....not 100% but 70% you stop picking....my dermatologist also told me to stop looking in the mirror! another thing that worked for me was plaing wit my hair, or scratching the skin on my head without getting other problems.......GOOD LUCK! Keep up the good work cassandra. I'm from Romania and I admire you!!!!
your an amazing young lady! what a blessing you are to young girls every where! God has given you a gift and im so glad you are running with it! you may never know just how many young ladies lives you have have changed or saved but putting your own fears aside! God Bless you!
I find it really helps when I disassociate "myself" from the image I see in the mirror. If I imagine I am putting makeup or skin care products on someone else's face (aka the face in the mirror), it helps me be more gentle, less critical and more accepting of what I see.
If you’re struggling with acne then go to HEREPA com for a permanent way to quickly get rid of zits and scars. Visit HEREPA com and check it out! Why does the zany effect support the earth? How does the shocking middle locate the expansion? The accidental limit compares the son
Annabella Rosales try maybe switching foundation brands to a more organic/hypoallergenic , using less foundation And product on your face, a stronger facial cleanser. Routine make up brush washing (I’m horrible at washing my brushes lol, I always procrastinate ) Trying these things might help? Also trying the other tips in the video
God bless you for being so open and brave to share you stories and tips! i just came across your videos today for the first time and they are all so helpful! I can so relate to this video, I been trying to stop. I can't even remember when I started picking. But your so right! Its a battle. SO thank you!!! Its encouraging to know that you have been able to over come many obstacles and be the great confident, young lady that you are! Keep it up!
I use those little zit sticker things you can buy at the store that is supposed to help get rid of the zit. It is basically a little clear circle that sticks to your face and you put it on your zit. Having those on really prevented me from picking my zits.
This is also great advice for dandruff control. I know that if I don't scratch or pick at my scalp it will heal, but its like a bad nervous habit. Thanks for the advice :] getting my nails done and keeping your hands occupied really helped me.
Thank you so much for this video. I pick all the time, especially if there are bumps on my face. They just drive me crazy! I do all the stuff that you mentioned, and I found that what you said has actually helped me at times. Another thing to help me stop picking is to have something in my mouth like gum. When I focus on that, it helps get my mind off picking at my face.
Just found your videos, I saw you on Today show.. You are a beautiful young lady .. Your personality is fabulous very confident. Im 42 years old and have cystic acne and you are the first person that shows how to really cover it Thank You VERY much ...
Thank you so much for this video. I'm picking on acne on my back for more then a year. I'm so embarrassed of my back. I never show it and I always wear shirts that are completely covering my scars and acnes. I'm trying to stop but it's very hard, and I completely understand what you're going through. You gave me some great tips in this video and I'm really thankful for it. Stay awesome, love you!
I only pick because I HATE whiteheads, for me they're just so disgusting. I don't want to go to school with a giant blob of white goo on my face, and my makeup doesn't cover it up. I don't have much acne because I use products from doctors but I still get pimples like whiteheads, should I leave them be or is it ok to pick?
Having fake nails is a great great tip. I have a bit of a habit of picking at scabs (weird I know) and the thickness of the fake nails stops me from being able to do it. LOVE THIS.
Thank you for this video. I do not like fake nails, but Instead of short natural nails, I have found that I pick a lot less when I let them grow a bit; it makes picking harder. I have failed in my attempts to *permanently* stop picking but this video was a good inspiration to get back on track. Now I'll go wash my face and put toner on.
This has been a huge problem for me for a few years now and I'm just starting to stop. The thought of having scars on my face and how my skin will look in another 50 years is finally starting to kick in! I watch a lot of your videos and just saw this one today...I think it will help me a lot. Sometimes if I have a scab from acne, I put pure vitamin E oil on it. Not only does it help with healing and moisturizing, but it is also slightly sticky so I don't like to touch it!
I definitely have this problem and while it's calming while I'm doing it I always regret it later. It's weird. I only pick when I'm in front of a mirror so I just stay away from the mirror and force myself to leave the bathroom quickly. Also, I absolutely love your earrings.
I pick a lot and I don't even have acne...my skin is horrible after picking. I thought I was the only one with this problem, but I feel a little supported right now :) thank you
11 years ago and im crying rn because everything she listed was something that I am going through right now. Thank you so much. I know you probably wont see this but It really meant a lot to me to know that people have gone through this in the past and even now. I thought I was all alone for this. Thank you.
what really works for me which is something you also mentioned is always having makeup on and being around people when I have it on. The second I get home and am alone with my face I wash it and put on some serum and moisturizer so I dont want to touch my face! The less you pick, the less you have the need to pick. Its like an addiction and once you stop you dont want to start again. Thanks for the video! :)
Great tips..I removed the light in the bathroom and open the mirror vanity so I don't see myself.. I've also covered the mirror with a garbage bag taped over it..I wear Band-Aids at night to cover my blemishes
Well, it would stand to reason that someone who has experienced the torment of this type of acne coupled with PICKING would be so compassionate and willing to share with others! THANK YOU! I too am a picker! I was told once it was cystic acne, but more recently I was told it's just because I PICK! But if it wasn't there, I'd have nothing TO pick! I used to sell Avon so I have a pair of night gloves (for moisturizing). I wear them when I sleep to avoid NIGHT picking! It's still hard to stop.
I need to thank you so much for this video. You are a beautiful woman (Even without your makeup!) and that alone makes me feel better that I'm not alone in my battle against picking. I've been fighting it since I hit puberty about 10-11 years ago. One thing that has helped me in recent days is substituting my picking habit for another habit or routine thats healthier. I have never taken good care of my teeth, so what I have done is whenever I catch myself picking, I instead pick up a toothbrush.
Tip: keep a small journal by writing the times that you pick and the general condition of your skin. For example; 12.45 - picked on my nose and the pimple got bigger/turned red etc. I read from a psychiatrist that it helps keeping a track of when you pick and how much you do, and you can find it easier to stop if you're aware of the conditions that make you pick more.
I AM THE SAME EXACT WAY! Omg I didn't know if this was an actual disorder or just a bad habit. Either way, you're absolutely right. What I'VE DONE TO PREVENT PICKING is think about how much I'll regret right after. I almost works like a craving for a bad food, If you could just hold back for about 5 minutes, that crave/need to pick will go away. I know it's hard to stop but WE CAN DO IT. Thank you for this video.
I could relate to so many of the tricks you mentioned. AVOIDING MIRRORS is very helpful. Sometimes i just cover my mirror in the bathroom with a shirt just so i don't get tempted. I remember one time i went to a summer retreat and obviously i was with other people so i didn't touch my face like pop anything for 3 days and when i went back home i realized how much better my skin looked since i didn't pop anything.
Here’s a tip: get a rock with holes in it like a lava rock (where I live you can find them by just going outside and looking but if you don’t have them where you are, you can purchase them somewhere.) and take some puffy paint or fabric paint. Put the paint in the rock and then you can pick it out and it will simulate picking without actually picking your face.
Hi, Cassandra--thank you for sharing. Great video. Another thing that helps: if you feel like picking, slather a mask on your face. You'll stop instantly. My favorites are the old-school ones by Queen Helene, especially the Mud Pack Masque and the Mint Julep Masque. They feel great and are very healthy for the skin!
I have this very problem. i stop picking for a little while and my ance clears up but i start again. I really hope this helps me. these are some great tips. You are an amazing and confident person.
I never knew there were people out there that had what i call a "picking addiction". I have tried for years to stop and I hope someday soon i can conquer the stupid urge to do it all the time. thanks for your videos :)
Omg, you are JUST like me. Picking is a stress relief. I managed to not pick my face much (I don't really have acne, but I do get a few acne zits when I pick) but now I pick/scratch my back. And I have acne on my back. It looks awful. I've been trying to stop but I haven't found a solution yet - except, like you, when I'm around people instead of alone in my room, in front of my wall-size mirror. I'm thinking I should buy a stress ball or something. It feels great to know I'm not alone. :)
i always sit at my desk when I'm on my laptop, so i will usually play with a ball of blue tack it does help but gets quite boring. i also noticed that when my hands are dirty i don't pick so get your hands dirty (with paint maybe). when you said that when you paint your nails while watching tv stops you from picking your nails, that is so true, it also means that for pretty much the rest of the day you won't want to mess up your nails so you will keep it away from your face or back.
I ave the worst problem with picking. I pop my acne and then I pick at the scabs. It scars terribly and hurts. I do it when I'm bored or when I'm reading and watching videos. Thanks for the tips! I'm happy to know I'm not the only one!
I hope this helps me. I pop every time I see a mirror. It doesn't really matter, I will get up and go to the bathroom mirror just to pop a pimple. And it is like re-leaving stress. I don't know why, but it really is a stress re-leaver and I can never find a way to stop. I pick at my face whenever I watch T.V. I have over all tried to stop watching T.V. But I never do my nails. But I get bad acne all over. But thank you for keeping updates with acne it's amazing what you do .
I've seen some comments about the actual skin picking disorder (dermatillomania or CSP), and just wanted to clarify something; someone suffering CSP will rarely pick their face, and if they do they won't be able to stop on their own. I suffer from CSP (so my arms, legs and shoulders fall victim) as well as just the "addiction" to picking my acne. Confusing the two issues can get complicated.
I am trying my best to stop piking pimples and I really found the writing on the mirror interesting and I am willing to try it as I have a huge mirror in my room that I really can not avoid. :3 wish me luck
I think i pick because of my anxiety since i always get anxious. I sometimes use aloe vera on my face if its really bad. Thanks for the tips hope this will help
Thanks, these tips really helped me to stop picking and my face is a lot better. I always picked when I was stressed, just like you. But I just had acne on my forhead so I started to wear always a beanie so I couldn`t pick again or I used a lot of handcream which made it impossible to pick.
Thanks for this vid! I love how you're so real about this. Mostly I think I only pick when I have a painful lesion that I feel like needs to have the contents removed so it will stop hurting and begin to heal. I try to remind myself that if it isn't ready to pop it needs to be left alone and it might go away on its own, Stress can definitely make it worse though, especially if my skin is irritated already. I'm going to try keeping my hands busy. Btw, you are sooo beautiful!
Thanks for sharing, I've been picking for 10 years and everything you said in this video was everything I did. I even went to my back to keep my hands out my face but I'm trying to overcome this bad habit so I can get my confidence back. So here's to a new beginning!!! I got this
you're gorgeous! i'm pretty sure that what you're describing is an impulse control disorder called dermatillomania. it's surprisingly common but it doesn't get much exposure; i've had it since middle school and i could only recently put a name to it myself! it's in the OCD spectrum, so it's hard to stop for legitimate reasons. these are awesome tips, thank you!
I have the exact same issue, my research points to me probably having OCD so because it's been such a big problem for me for so many years I'll schedule an appointment and go that route. Hopefully it helps.
One trick that has helped is wearing clean mittens, in particularly at night since it is also psychological and stress-related for me. In the winter time my room used to be so cold I would wear clean knee-high tube socks lol. It worked, though, and prevented me from doing it in my sleep.
This is so true, I would always and still do pick on pimples without nobody seeing me or when I'm zoned-out, I was afraid of even my family to look at me picking. These tips seem reallyy helpful! I'm going to try them out :)
I know exactly what you mean about how picking relieves stress! I feel the same exact way, and I also pick when I zone out. But I am lucky if my friends or family see me starting to pick they'll slap my hand and tell me to stop but on my bad days when I am really stressed out I just cant help picking.
It's called dermatillomania
Me too! I was doing so well resisting that terrible bad habit when I absentmindedly did it today T-T
i do the same thing.. ive realized the more i pick the more i leave my skin opened to dirt n grim the more it will flare then the more i pick. its a terrible cycle but if i have a zit i feel like its gross n needs popped... but then it looks terrible all red n even more swollen from picking. i hate it!!!
One thing I'm starting to do is to put a timer in the bathroom and set it so I only have 10min to shower so I don't have time to touch my skin.
good idea!
Omg this sounds great. I usually pick when I'm literally right about to get in the shower and then my fave is usually bleeding by the time I actually get in.
wait good idea omg thank you
Thats rlly smart
3DHipster I do the same thing but 5 min
I always wear a rubber band on my wrist and when I start to touch my face or start pick at a bump I'll snap the rubber band. It's been really helpful for me.
elizabeth davis GREAT IDEA
elizabeth davis that’s a really good idea!
imma so gonna try it
elizabeth davis smart as fuck
elizabeth davis I started doing this too because my brother did it and told me it helped him and it did help
I have had problems with popping my pimples for several years now, my acne isn't severe but I pick at pimples that aren't even there if that makes sense. I have tried to stop and am hoping I will be able to
I'm the same way its frustrating
I’m the exact same . It’s really frustrating 😬😖
same-it’s nice while doing it but i feel so mad at myself afterwards
I do it without realising it sometimes, it’s so annoying
When I zone out at school or eating tv/RUclips I pick my acne.... I used to have such clear skin but this fucking habit is to angering... I've tried but I can't stop. I guess all I do not is when I realize I'm picking I stop immediately but the damage is already done :(
Error4-07-99 I'm experiencing the exact same thing:( my face looks terrible now.
i do the exact same thing sometimes i don't even think about it when i do it and then a pimple is just bleeding
Same
exactly and stopping midway while popping the pimple is so frustrating:( i hope the urge goes away one day for both of us!
same
Things i do: set timer for myself to wash my face and brush my teeth, because if i have plenty of time i will start picking.
I just don't know how to leave them more than a few days.
same lol
I like equals one day without picking my acne
You got a like from me! XOXO and let us know how it goes for you dear
i wish it was socially acceptable to wear bandaids on your face. i feel like that would help me with the picking.
anywho! good luck on your journey to healthier skin!
Ava Gonzalez omg same here 😭
Ava Gonzalez that is the exact same with me
Yes sameee my made my skin so bad and i was only 8 or 9
I have the same issue you do, anytime I'm stressed or angry or upset the first thing I do is pick at my face and now I have terrible scaring!
This is the best comment section I've ever seen. I'm so happy to hear all these peoples stories and ideas. I find it very helpful.
put moisturiser on your face so it's too slippy to pick your acne
Aine Goodwin if you put a moisturizer on your face, will that cause acne though or no?
HAUNTING SISTERS 2k16 Actually it does the opposite. Putting moisturizer on your face hydrates the skin and prevents the face from producing sebum (A oil your skin produces to hydrate your skin). If you moisturize your skin will not produce it.
shook queen I thought that it clogged pores, causing acne breakouts
Or sunscreen!😎❤
@@kindnessmatters8142 dont put to much, and instead of that u can use sunscreen in the morning?
When I have like a spot that I feel like I'm going to pick on I put a small dot band-aid on it ... Like the small circular ones and it helps me to not pick at it
Great idea
MakeupLover50837 u r a friggen genius. Ur literally the next Einstein...
(Im like the only guy here watching this vid lol)
I pick my face when I'm nervousness I have so many scars now :'(
Sme now I look even uglier :( self esteem gone down down
Me too bro me too
I pick when I'm procrastinating doing other things like homework or something and I always like yell at myself in my head during it and say you know you'll regret this in 5 minutes😂😂 when it's really bad, I'll usually take a picture the next day so when I see it it reminds me what's going to happen (a few days ago I literally picked and popped for 5 hours straight bc I'd just had jaw surgery leaving my face very numb and I couldn't sleep so yeah 5 hours straight, which gave me a few large bruises on my cheeks which later turned to scabs and basically it was a nightmare)
you are so right..i pick when I'm stressed on as u said zoned out it happens without me realizing it then i pay attention to what I'm doing but usually after the damage is done.. it also happens to me sometimes when I'm watching tv. but i have to say it's gotten less these days or months because i used to do that so many times during the day but now i guess it's better and u r so right about the make up i don't pick on my face when i have it on ..thanx for the video i hope u and me and anyone who does that would stop for good & hopefully soon.
My dad always picked at bumps on my arms when I was little like in elementary school and now I do it when I get anxious
I was picking during this vid too
Amanda Adkins yes it is a real thing just not called OCPD.
So what should I do if my acne actually hurts me? I pick them because the pain goes away...
There’s a diagnosis for this called Dermatilomania. It’s a form of OCD. These tips are very helpful! If you’re still struggling, definitely see a doctor as some medications can help with this.
Here's what helped me the most:
1- Leave messages on my mirrors.
As soon as she said "I started picking at my back instead" I realized I was doing the exact same thing
i suffered the same thing, physically and definitely psychologically! for the past year and a half ive dealt with lots of scars on my cheeks and just like you when im stressed i go right to the bathroom, lean over and pick anything that i can! i also pick the sides of my thumbs when im stressed to the point where they are bleeding non-stop. in the past year ive had 4 microdermabrasions done and they have helped alot! they are worth the money. thank you so much for the tips! best of luck to you:)
Ify 😪
I pick my face sooo much! My face is extremely discoloured and I have huge pores from squeezing blackheads! It's really bad and I need to stop.
You've actually changed your life. Whole life!! You're so beautiful. Wish my acne would gone too
Anytime it takes me a long time to do homework I walk to the bathroom and start picking 😖 idek y I do that I just like the way it looks I guess (gross 🤢).
Your not the only one 😭
This video is so helpful!
she reminds me of Taylor Swift for some reason
Me too
Maybe the makeup
Exactly😂😂
I am so happy to actually see and hear someone talk about this :) Thank you!!! You are incredibly brave ((hugs)) I have zoned out in the mirror at night after removing my contacts for YEARS...and although I have gotten better with it, I have on scarred area on my forehead that I have picked at for over 8 years and nothing can cover :( For me, anxiety meds help quite a bit, but it is still an everyday battle for me. If you can come up with anything that can cover a DARK raised scar :)
My mom picks my face half the time and the other half I do when I'm in school or at home
Uhhh sameee
girlygirl if your mom is picking your face tell her to stop and why
I did evreything you did(especially scratching my back:)))....it took like an year for me to make this work and to educate myself,if I may say that... it works....not 100% but 70% you stop picking....my dermatologist also told me to stop looking in the mirror! another thing that worked for me was plaing wit my hair, or scratching the skin on my head without getting other problems.......GOOD LUCK! Keep up the good work cassandra. I'm from Romania and I admire you!!!!
The "zoned out" part is so true about me lol
After seeing your foundation video, I gotta say you're skin looks stunning in this, and even without makeup on I think you're really pretty c:
the camera quality was ahead of its time
your an amazing young lady! what a blessing you are to young girls every where! God has given you a gift and im so glad you are running with it! you may never know just how many young ladies lives you have have changed or saved but putting your own fears aside! God Bless you!
Cant do makeup or any creams cause it gives me more acne
wear gloves when you're alone and ask someone to knock at the door after five minutes (or whatever) in the bathroom :)
I find it really helps when I disassociate "myself" from the image I see in the mirror. If I imagine I am putting makeup or skin care products on someone else's face (aka the face in the mirror), it helps me be more gentle, less critical and more accepting of what I see.
Make-ups are the reason i got Pimples what do i do?

Annabella Rosales try maybe switching foundation brands to a more organic/hypoallergenic , using less foundation
And product on your face, a stronger facial cleanser. Routine make up brush washing (I’m horrible at washing my brushes lol, I always procrastinate )
Trying these things might help? Also trying the other tips in the video
God bless you for being so open and brave to share you stories and tips! i just came across your videos today for the first time and they are all so helpful! I can so relate to this video, I been trying to stop. I can't even remember when I started picking. But your so right! Its a battle. SO thank you!!! Its encouraging to know that you have been able to over come many obstacles and be the great confident, young lady that you are! Keep it up!
Her:picking was a stress relieve
Me:same. I can relate.it was also kind of a habit an obssession becuz i would be so self concious about my acne

@@faithinGod11 =P
I use those little zit sticker things you can buy at the store that is supposed to help get rid of the zit. It is basically a little clear circle that sticks to your face and you put it on your zit. Having those on really prevented me from picking my zits.
I only Pick on my back, so open back clothes are not my friend.... Cant help it
This is also great advice for dandruff control. I know that if I don't scratch or pick at my scalp it will heal, but its like a bad nervous habit. Thanks for the advice :] getting my nails done and keeping your hands occupied really helped me.
i was picking while watching this lol
Thank you so much for this video. I pick all the time, especially if there are bumps on my face. They just drive me crazy! I do all the stuff that you mentioned, and I found that what you said has actually helped me at times. Another thing to help me stop picking is to have something in my mouth like gum. When I focus on that, it helps get my mind off picking at my face.
*picks pimple* whoops......o well..
Just found your videos, I saw you on Today show.. You are a beautiful young lady .. Your personality is fabulous very confident. Im 42 years old and have cystic acne and you are the first person that shows how to really cover it Thank You VERY much ...
It's a form of OCD, here is an extremely informative link......

Girl omg same I pick my face for stress 😂😢
This video is a life saver ❤ All along, I thought I was alone in this endeavor. Must do all these. Now. Thanks, dear.
Paulina Hahne ME THOUGH IMG RELATE
Having fake nails is a great great tip. I have a bit of a habit of picking at scabs (weird I know) and the thickness of the fake nails stops me from being able to do it. LOVE THIS.
Thank you for this video. I do not like fake nails, but Instead of short natural nails, I have found that I pick a lot less when I let them grow a bit; it makes picking harder.
I have failed in my attempts to *permanently* stop picking but this video was a good inspiration to get back on track. Now I'll go wash my face and put toner on.
are you a dermatologist? if you aren't, then you're the best acne-advisor ever! EVER! you are helping me psychologically so much! thanks for uploading
I thought I was the only one with this problem, but I feel a little supported right now :) thank you
I have a jade bracelette, or I have a bead braclette and I play with it. It's cute on my wrist, and helps keep my face cuter too!
I love these practical tips, super easy ways to stop picking.
Did u stop the habit?
This video helped me out a lot. I stopped picking and even stop touching my face, My acne has started to get better.
acrylic nails have really helped me, as well as me getting my nose pierced
I have the exact same issue, my research points to me probably having OCD so because it's been such a big problem for me for so many years I'll schedule an appointment and go that route. Hopefully it helps.
One trick that has helped is wearing clean mittens, in particularly at night since it is also psychological and stress-related for me. In the winter time my room used to be so cold I would wear clean knee-high tube socks lol. It worked, though, and prevented me from doing it in my sleep.
jogging and working out helps me relax and makes my skin feel clearer
This is so true, I would always and still do pick on pimples without nobody seeing me or when I'm zoned-out, I was afraid of even my family to look at me picking. These tips seem reallyy helpful! I'm going to try them out :)
I know exactly what you mean about how picking relieves stress! I feel the same exact way, and I also pick when I zone out. But I am lucky if my friends or family see me starting to pick they'll slap my hand and tell me to stop but on my bad days when I am really stressed out I just cant help picking.
