- Hi guys! Last week I spent the day in one of my favorite neighborhoods here in Seoul - Mangwon! It's got such a sweet neighborhood feel with lots of mom and pop shops, artists' studios, cafes, and a market. I wish I lived closer to this area but I still make a point to visit as much as I can. It's really close to Hongdae and Hapjeong so I hope that if you're visiting, you can take some time to pop over and explore!

I've been experiencing the same phenomena, especially also because I know Cari to be the most active under the comment section shortly after the release.

South Korea is like a designers paradise. Design and aesthetics are emphasized everywhere you go. Also, because of the super competitive nature of almost everyone, the standards keeps going up all the time.
Whenever I’m outside with my phone I think to myself “would cari film this?”
I have been able to capture so many little moments thanks to that thought, so thank you cari for helping me notice the little beauties of life! 🧡

I found this channel like so many others completely by accident. I’d been researching rents in Korea for an essay I wanted to right about housing costs in East Asia when I found the vlog from the Airbnb in Daegu.
In the year since I’ve traveled around the world, never thinking I would end up in Seoul but enjoying little glimpses of it and of Cari’s life on this channel.
Tomorrow I’m moving into my apartment in Mangwon-dong. These vlogs filled me with longing to see these places and now that I will finally be there I don’t really know how to feel. The sense of discovery and home finding that used to come with every new place I traveled to is to gone. Battered from my body from a six week long bout with COVID-19.
I hope I find it again.

sad that it won't be for a long while 'til i get to visit seoul again cause of... well just the state of the world, but these exploration vlogs are really nice to watch while my city is still under quarantine
but remember that seoul isnt going anywhere!! if anything it just gives you time to plan more hehe^^

Soul oozes sophistication, vintage, hipster, peace, art, creativity, quirky, harmony, festivity. It's super cool that you can walk down a street and see stylish cafes next to a unique pottery shop, beside a thrift clothing store, next to a vintage jewellery shop or quaint art gallery and then on your way home get some organic veggies from the quality corner shop.
Korea is soo beautiful honestly.. They pay attention to details (especially when it comes to cafes and small boutique stores). Wish I could go visit it again..

Cari, I always come back to your videos 'cause I dearly miss my time living in Korea and you help bring all those memories alive. I used to also roam the city hiking, going from museums to museums and wandering in the bukchon areas for hidden gems and daily poetry... Well, today's is especially a dear one. My house was in Mangwon, one street away from the market. Thank you for the happy-sad reminder.

Stayed in Mangwon when I was in Seoul by chance, such a hidden gem, this video actually made me cry because I didn't think I would see all of these little places I'd been too again, brought me so so much joy, thank you

I used to live in Mangwon, for a few months last year. It was my favorite place that I have ever lived - such a beautiful and lively neighborhood. Around 10:30-10:50 you were right outside my old house, so weird and nice to see it on your vlog. If you see this comment and go again, I'd really recommend Bokdeokbang, next to the bingsu place by the market. It usually has a queue but the food is incredible and paired with makgeolli and the owner is really nice. I also recommend the vintage store nag.won, on the street with Lao Piak and the film dispenser - best vintage at the best prices I've ever seen.

Mangwon holds a special spot in my heart I love strolling pretty much all around that neighborhood whenever I visit Korea..I love its local market as well as the many hidden gems you'll encounter walking along different alleys

I was in Hongdae 2 years ago preparing my portfolio to get into artschool back in the Netherlands. I got in but I wish I knew about Mangwon. I stayed a whole freaking month in Hongdae so I don't get how I didn't know! It would have inspired and motivated me loads because I was on low energy haha. Thank you Cari for always showing us around your favourite places! I don't get to go to Korea for a long time so at least I get some kind of recharge from your videos :))

Tip for Mangwon - because lots of the small places are not always open, they usually have an instagram where they will post everyday if they are open or not.
