Honestly, I feel like this story would’ve been decent if it turned out that the father made the VHS tape to “toughen up” his son. There could’ve been some hints earlier on as to why his father was so hard on him (maybe he was battling his own demons?) and perhaps a little exposition like his father used to work in an animation studio that went bankrupt or something. Generally I’d rewrite the story so that the father got fired from the aforementioned animation job, perhaps turning to alcoholism to cope, then made the VHS tape to basically ruin his son’s favourite show in order for him to “man up”. I’d keep the therapy thing, but also make it so that the discovery of the tape’s origins is what causes the main character’s parents to divorce, with the mother sticking up for her son. And ofc the whole thing about the tape still being out there and claiming someone’s life should be removed completely. Since this story was posted on Reddit, I feel like a good rewrite should still be written in the style of a Reddit post, perhaps as an answer to an askreddit thread titled “What was the most evil thing your family member did?” or something like that. In short: no supernatural elements, no cursed vhs tapes, just a sad and distressing account of childhood trauma wrapped in the guise of a lost episode creepypasta *adds this to an ever-growing list of writing projects*

Now I am going on 20 and before I stopped talking to him he would still bitch at me about watching spongebob when I wasn't being mature(I didn't end up how he wanted me too) he wouldn't let me just be a kid and grow up and now that I am an adult he wants to keep treating me like a kid no matter how much he tells me about he is treating me like an adult. I truly hate parents who are like this
