    I also chose the wind for many of the same reasons, but in my hurry to buy a new car, I didn't wait for the availability of a wind with tech package. As much as I love my car, I regret not being more patient.

    This is the Comprehensive list of what an additional $3500 gets in a GT-Line AWD verses a Wind AWD with Tech pkg:
    Augmented Reality Head Up Display (HUD)
    20-inch Alloy Wheels, Black Finish
    Ambient LED Accent Interior Lighting (Endless color options through the infotainment display)
    Wide Power Sunroof
    Highway Driving Assist 2 (includes lane change assist)
    Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist w/ Side and Oncoming Lane Change
    Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist w/ Driver Steering and Auto Evasive Steering Assist
    Smart Cruise Control w/ Machine Learning (Adapts to driver behaviors)
    Homelink Rearview Mirror
    Optional Suede Seating (not available on Wind)
    Flat Bottom Steering Wheel
    Alloy Pedals
    Door Sill Scuff Cover Plates
    For me, it was absolutely worth the additional $3,500 dollars for added safety tech and conveniences. Nowadays, just adding on a traditional power sunroofs "à la carte" style costs around $1500. Larger wheels, the ambient lighting, the alcantara style fabric seats, and advanced HUD are also big ticket items. Then factor in everything else and the GTline AWD tends to be the best "bang for your buck" trim line.
    Of course, two things have to be considered when determining which trim level is "right" for a prospective buyer. First (the obvious), everyone has different budgets in place for a vehicle purchase. And secondly, something outside a customer's control, is availability. A buyer may want a GTline AWD but nothing is available in his or her region. So, they settle on a lower trim line.
    But it does come down to what a buyer thinks is of value to them. For me, all 13 options above have value, and I use/enjoy them quite frequently.

    Great video as always Jeff. Very well done.
    So I started with Wind AWD with tech, and was very happy with it. The only problem with it was my wife’s arthritic hands made opening the door difficult without the pop up handles.
    So I ended up trading it on GT-Line RWD. I am not a young man and I tend to drive in economy mode most of the time, so while I’ll miss that power available if I want it, the RWD decision was pretty easy considering it’s the only car in a 5 state area I could find. It’s plenty fast for me in sports mode.
    But I can honestly say both trims are outstanding and I don’t think one could go wrong going either direction. They are remarkable throughout the lineup.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  2 года назад +2

      Glad it's helpful! With the range, it's around 10-20 miles depending on how you drive. The faster you go, the more of an impact there will be. For 2023, Kia split out the EPA range. I think I recall now it's rated at 282 miles combined for the Wind AWD and 264 miles for the GT-Line AWD, with the only difference being the wheels/tires.

    Thanks for this video, Jeff. We were trolling and found it, watched it, and decided on the Wind AWD with Tech package (really needed that extra headroom and the AWD plus we rarely have opened any sunroof we've ever had on past vehicle...and ventilated seats? Critical in Scottsdale, AZ and offered on this mid-trim, so all boxes checked!!!). We just sat and waited for the best deal and bought a '23 in Runway Red on 12/26 and got a KILLER deal on it, my wife and I were both astounded. A similar '24 would have cost us easily $8k+ more, even with all of the incentives for that model year (and they offered a lot more for our trade if we bought the '23, too!) and we didn't care about the dimple in the charging door or the light inside that seem to be the biggest difference in model years; plus, we keep our vehicles for a while, too, so not too worried about depreciation. Seems the car we bought had been 'lost' in the back of the lot and by the time the dealership pulled it out and prepped it at the end of the 3rd quarter, sales started to soften. Came back to subscribe to your channel and ask a question: Any reason to check with the dealer regarding your list of TSB's or do you think they would be up on those that are applicable without me asking. Specifically, I noticed your VSC number SC273 regarding VCU logic, as our '23 shows built in 2/23? Thanks, again, for your video, which helped us decide! Wife happy, all is good!

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  11 месяцев назад

      Awesome, enjoy the car! Regarding the TSBs, they would not be done automatically. Only service actions or recalls are done automatically. If you want any done you'll need to specifically request them and say you have whatever issue it's supposed to fix.

    I have the Wind RWD in Runway Red, an amazing and beautiful EV. I bought it primarily because of availability. I would not have purchased the Light with the smaller battery and low range. But, I would have seriously looked at all versions of the Wind or GT-line, but at some point would have limited my choice by cost or dealer markup. And, with regards to color, my preferences were red, white or blue. I would not have purchased a black or gray or silver one, even at MSRP. I did pay a “small “ markup but it included both a 120 and a 240 ChargePoint chargers and a few other items that I was okay with. Plus, since I got $4k more on my trade than I paid for it 2 years ago, I was pleased with my purchase. Really enjoy your “to-the-point “ videos! Thanks

    Great video, very much to the point! I am facing the same decision, and have one additional advantage to add for the Wind: I vastly prefer the exterior styling. The GT line modifications seem like an afterthought, and it appears that the original design is better conserved in the wind trim. in particular with brighter colors, i like the rugged look of the black wheel arches amd the actual metal strips at the front lip and sides.

    Basically most of the things that made me want an ev6 in the 1st place gets removed with the wind trim. Although sunroofs aren't really important to me, i used to have a sunroof on a previous car and i hardly opened it for fear that a passing bird would do a number on my interior. Also, I'm not crazy about floating sunroofs as it kills the aesthetic of the car so that's another reason why I wouldn't open it, so it's not a deal breaker for me. The rest of the bells and whistles of the gt line is what made me go for that instead, provided i could find one at retail price that is.

    In the Australian market, we currently only have 3 models to choose from (4 once the GT arrives). Air RWD, GT-line RWD, and GT-line AWD.
    The Air is roughly equivalent to the US Wind without tech pack. GT-line RWD is similar to US GT-line, but with buttons instead of capacitive controls. GT-line AWD adds the second motor and the sunroof. The only options on any model is colour.
    I picked the GT-line RWD for the cooled seats, safety features, and tech. I avoided the AWD because I didn't want the sunroof, and while the extra performance is attractive, I wasn't willing to pay an extra $10k for performance I'll rarely use. Especially since the RWD is already quicker than most new cars in Aus.
    Unfortunately, even though I placed my order only a week after it went on sale, the lead time was already a year or more. Hopefully I'll have it in Feb.

    We also bought an AWD Wind w/ Tech Package. For me the 20-inch wheels are the biggest downside to the GT-Line: they almost certainly reduce range compared to 19-inch wheels. I'm very glad we got the Tech Package because the EV6's rearward visibility is pretty bad. We didn't consider a RWD model primarily because only AWD models come with a heat pump. We live in Colorado and already owned a BMW i3 and a Nissan Leaf, both without heat pumps, and have had huge (30%+) range decrease in the winter.

    Thanks for clearing up the difference. But I'm curious: Why is everybody--well, not everybody, but a majority of people--opting for the AWD? Obviously, this vehicle is not made for off-road duty, and AWD is only an advantage if you live in a place where it seriously snows. If you DON'T live in a place that seriously snows, then the extra range of a RWD is the way to go.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  Год назад

      Happy to help! For me, AWD is definitely the way to go. There are a few advantages. The AWD goes 0-60 about 2 seconds faster and is much more fun. It also provides better traction in all conditions, not just snow. When the road is wet, it's very easy to break traction with RWD, such as pulling out from one road to another. And the range is very comparable to the RWD, especially using Eco mode. Real world range at 70 mph is less than 20 miles different.

    Going to Kia dealer this week. They have 2023 Kia EV6 Wind AwD, how can I tell if the Tech Package is included. Also does Kia provide the equipment to charge the EV6 in my garage? Do they install the charging equipment?

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  9 месяцев назад +1

      Nice! The tech package for the Wind has the cameras in the mirrors. That's the easiest way to tell. And the 360 camera. No they don't provide a charger. I think you might be able to get one through Kia, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'd get an electrician to install it or install a 14-50 outlet for a charger.

    On the Wind model, how do u unlock the doors from the outside. I see an indent on the door handle. It looks like a button. Can u use that to unlock or do u need to use the key fob?

    • @TechnicallyJeff

      You can push on that portion of the handle if you have the keyfob close, like in a pocket or purse.

    You get so much more with the GT line that it doesn’t justify getting any lower trim.
    Those rims, ambient lighting, sunroof and hud alone will sell the GT line in a second. For what??? $3400? That’s nothing.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  Год назад

      Definitely to each their own. I wanted headroom since I'm tall so didn't care for the sunroof. Don't care too much about ambient lighting or those wheels (I changed my wheels). I would like the HUD and automatic door handles though.
