Man, if only the new Monuments album had guitars mixed like this, and if only the new VOLA album had all around bassiness mixed like this. You guys have put forth a work of production that I've been sorely missing with my other favorite bands' new releases. Anyway, fantastic song, my dudes! Can't wait to hear more! =)
Bro Vola's "Smartfriend" was bassy as hell. Im excited for their new album. Their's going to be a lot of variety on it.
@@JoHarm96 Moments like 1:21 in Alien Shivers are primarily the type of thing I'm referring to. Moving into that chorus sounds so weak. Just an odd choice for the mix. It's like they pushed the bass slider all the way down. The music itself is fantastic, though, of course.
Re the bass in the Alien Shivers that kinda makes sense from a mixing perspective though. When you want your guitars to sound wide backing the bass off usually helps as loud bass affects your guitars stereo image, plus pulling the bass back allows the vocals to be front and centre. It is noticeable as you say and probably extreme but there is a reason for it, at least I suspect that’s why!
I agree with Vola, really confused why some heavier songs lacked bass. The record is still fucking amazing. Def in my top 20 (listened to about 236 albums that came out this year, I am a bit of a maniac hahahah)
IDK I'm glad the new Monuments had a little more gain....I get sick of mid-gain tones a lot of the time. That being said, this album has a pretty great sounding tone.
